    • A very luxurious hotel with a charming and friendly staff. The location is great for touring most of the city's main sites.
    • It is a beautiful museum hotel, just stunning and the staff was just lovely. Breakfast by the water was gorgeous and tasty!
    • Comfortable rooms, nice pool and gardens, and helpful staff. A special thanks to Martin who helped me with everything -- tickets, transportation, and any special request -- always with a smile on his face.

    Cons -

    • No complaints!
    • Given it's location, I can't think of anything that could be improved.
    • Unfortunately the water was not always warm when we wanted to take a shower. The location near Jew town is OK during the day but dead in the evenings and there’s very little in the way of restaurants near. It takes a 10min tuk tuk ride to get to restaurants in Ft kochi main area. Also the food at the restaurant is just OK .

Excellent location water front rooms. Very unique property . It’s like being in a museum with a lot of antique things. Restaurant was great with very good breakfast. Too many food items and very tasty. Didn’t have to have lunch after the heavy breakfast. Restaurant staffs and receptionist are very helpful and polite. Owner came to us during breakfast and enquired us regarding the stay. Very close to some tourist attractions like synagogue, palace and lot of shops around for perfumes and antiques. Will definitely stay again and would recommend to others .

Excellent staff. Beautiful artwork everywhere. This hotel was such a visual treat. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs. The bed was very comfortable and the amenities were thoughtful.

A Charming and Memorable Stay at Ginger House Museum HotelMy stay at Ginger House Museum Hotel in Kochi was a superb experience from start to finish. I had a beautiful room with a stunning view of the sea and backwaters, peaceful, scenic, and unforgettable. The restaurant, set against the same breathtaking backdrop, made every breakfast feel like a retreat in nature. The atmosphere was calm and pastoral, perfect for starting the day.The staff were exceptionally polite and warm. Martin, the hotel manager, always greeted me with a cheerful, welcoming smile, and the owner (whose name I regret forgetting) checked in on me daily, making sure I was comfortable and even keeping me company with genuine care.A special highlight was the antique shop inside the hotel, a true treasure trove filled with magnificent pieces, each with its own story. Wandering through it felt like stepping into a museum of art, culture, and history. It was a special stay in a unique place, full of charm and heartfelt hospitality.

Staying at Ginger House Museum Hotel was a truly special experience. The hotel is set right on the waterfront, offering a stunning view of the port and the fishermen returning to shore in the evening – a peaceful and authentic glimpse into local life. The restaurant, located just by the gulf, looks out over Willingdon Island and offers a beautiful setting for meals. The hotel itself is filled with rare and fascinating antiques, including an extraordinary 1,040-year-old boat that was once carried by 95 people to the shore – an impressive 32 meters in length. What made the experience truly memorable was the warmth and generosity of the owner and his family. Their hospitality made me feel completely at home, and I’m grateful for the personal and heartfelt connection.Highly recommended for those seeking a unique and soulful stay in Kochi.

The South Indian breakfast was exceptional. The location of the hotel was perfect--on the harbor, easy walking distance to the Paradesi Synagogue, the Mattancherry Palace, and many shops. A 5-10 minute 3-wheeler ride away were several excellent restaurants and the Fort Cochin Beach with a long promendade along the water.. Staff at the hotyel were very friendly. The entire hotel is a fascinating antique shop. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, with good a/c, splendid bathrooms. All around great!

Given it's location, I can't think of anything that could be improved.

Beautiful grand rooms. Antiquities everywhere. Staff were fantastic. Excellent breakfast

    7emmaPosted on: 2-10-2025

The Rooms were fantastic and George the manager was really helpful.

The pool is looking quite tired with tiles missing and very murky in colour. It would have been great to have some parasols next to the pool for shade and some comfier seating or some grass. Not that pleasant trying to relax on concrete. Felt quite steep in price compared to other hotels we have stayed at in India with nicer pools and grounds.

I loved everything about the place. Each room is unique and the staff were kind and friendly. The breakfast they served was very tasty, offering us 5-6 dishes instead of the regular buffet. I enjoyed the food here, it was simple and tasty. The place is also an antique shop, so each item in your room is purchasable including the doors! What an unique concept ?

It felt like a scam, room was ugly and stinky. Thankfully, they moved us to a hotel nearby.

The room we got had nothing to do with the pictures online (see pics below). It was a humid ground floor, with a stinky front-yard filled with trash. The good rooms are in main building, check before booking! They ended up moving us to a decent hotel nearby, but still we felt scammed given the amount of money we paid for a suite in this hotel.

My first stop was in Kerala, and this experience positively reflected on the rest of my days. Starting with the warm welcome, the friendliness of the staff, the communication from both the reception and the hotel owner, the quality and cleanliness of the food, the cleanliness of the hotel facilities, its beautiful location, their constant cooperation, and cheerful demeanor. The room was spacious and beautiful, and the hotel itself is a historic masterpiece. I didn’t want to leave.I would like to thank Mr. Maimoon, Mr. George, Mr. Mohammed Taysir, and all the staff without exception.

very uniquely funky accommodation, loaded with a plethora of highly aesthetic antique (or, at least, antique-looking) artifacts/artworks/curiosities/etc.excellent location in the heart of jew town. spacious/stylish rooms containing some of the same type of artful pieces that u can view in their massive more-than-20-room store/warehouse/showroom adjacent to the hotel ... called "heritage arts" & under same ownership.the food was quite tasty, very generous in amnt, sophisticated/varied & carefully prepared.definitely worth the splurge![note: rooms were advertised as accommodating only 2 adults ... but, by special request, there was no problem -- at reasonable added expense -- to add a 3rd very comfy adult-appropriate bed (not cot!) to our quite large & well-equipped room]

the swimming pool is quite unappealing & not something we were in any way tempted to enter. the shower's hot water -- while not cold -- could've been several degrees warmer (especially during the winter months)

The staff - extremely friendly and warm. The restaurant - serves absolutely amazing food. The property- its done tastefully and a very unique experience. The Owner - an extremely humble and a thorough gentleman. Hardworking and super attentive to the needs of each guest. He persinally meets and greets with the guests at breakfast and lunch, ensuring the dining and overall experience at the resort-hotel is a memorable one, which we think is very endearing and an adorable gesture. Anecdotes from our stay-Our room was not as i had expected. The photographs i saw were different to the room i was alloted, and there were too many mosquitoes and noise from the streets.Any other resort would have simply said- it is what it is.. but not here. As soon as i informed the property manager, he escalated the matter to the owner, who immediately came to meet us and ensured that every little detail /expectation was taken care of for us and the rest of our stay was a memorable one. I was pregnant and requested for coconut water, which they did not have on their menu, but as soon as the owner heard about it, he ensured that not only got a coconut water then but also it was there each morning, at breakfast without fail. On the 2nd day of our stay my husband was feeling unwell and the staff took brilliant care of him, to ensure he got alright. It was extremely commendable.

Everything was wonderful but yes, in the future i expect to see room options with photos of exactly what i should expect when booking a stay as each room is curated /designed differently, so knowing in advance might be better. Overall an excellent experience. Totally recommend stay and dining at Ginger house Museum Hotel.

The room was massive, and had the best light blockage of anywhere I’ve ever stayed. Also an amazingly comfortable bed. Full marks!

The restaurant / breakfast could have been a bit better, and the room doors were quite hard to open & close. Otherwise no real complaints!

Had a great stay with the accommodating folks at the Ginger House led by George the manager, who arranged for an auto rickshaw for me for one day and a car for the next and was easily able to facilitate for me to do some touring and just get to do that on the spot. Most of his recommendations were must-do events or sights (one friend told me I did more in a weekend than he did in 4 visits). The restaurant is solid too. I had lunch and breakfast there and it was very good. The facilities were clean and large and comfortable and it is well located in the Jew Town (yeah that’s the name) district in Kochi.

The rooms were so beautiful with ornate decorations throughout, really making you feel like you are in a new place. Staff were extremely accommodating. Highly recommend for the location next to lots of local shopping.
