Liked the overall feel of the place - pretty old world, like going down memory lane. Also like COUCHYN - the bar. Nice soft music and a cosy feel. Drinks were fine and reasonably priced. Food wasn't up to the mark. Had ordered some supposedly 'spicy' chicken dish, but the chicken had a cold storage feel to it.

Breakfast wasn't great. Very bland food. Seems like it's made to please the foreign tourists who can't have anything spicy. Lunch was very bad. The Karimeen Fry that this hotel is famous for was actually quite bland. Worse, it's price was atrocious - Rs.800!!! It was not like this before - but that was about 25 years ago!

The breakfast was very good! Both Western and Indian options were available along with a few hot entrees option. Loved the staff and the service here.

The bathrooms in the rooms were awful. Showers had mold and mildew. The water pressure was also low.

This was really a fantastic hotel. Real old world charm, fantastic staff plus the restaurant was amazing .We can now never stay anywhere else in Kochi!

Nice location close to metro station. Room attendant was great and kept the room very clean. Family rooms were a big reason I stayed there.

Property is outdated and needs proper refurbishment. The hallways had bad carpet smell which I did't like very much. Too many outsiders visit the property to take their lunch at the restaurant next to the lobby which makes the lobby area extremely crowded during lunch time.

Breakfast spread was decent, but timing was 7.30 to 10.30 but staff started closing the counter 10.10 and started sweeping once side of the property. Do not fell like having and came out hardily.

There is nothing suitable for solo travelers in the menu, who do not have apatite. price also very expensive. I had wasted 50% of the food because there is nothing I can order little as per apatite. Bar is also very expensive. It is not a five star hotel but rate are five star, food and beverages. Definitely this property is not suitable for solo travelers.

The best thing about Grand Hotel Kochi is its location in MG Road. All the major commercial centres are very close to this hotel including Marine Drive. The rooms are very big and very comfortable and the room service is excellent. The hotel is very clean and even though it is very old, everything is well maintained and updated. The Deluxe rooms have all the necessities like chairs, coffee table, chairs and mini table for eating etc. Rooms are very big and the bath room is well maintained. The food at the restaurant is very tasty. The breakfast is excellent but mainly Kerala delicacies. Overall it is an excellent hotel.

There is no separate coffee shop in the hotel. Also there is no swimming pool.

The rooms are clean and amenities. The breakfast buffet is really good and appreciate the live appam and poori counters on the day when I stayed.The staffs were really good and helpful- whether it be reception, restaurant or security guards outside while checking in and out. It is very near to south railway station and a lot of taxi and auto-rickshaw available for commute. Also Ola and Uber rides available.

The furniture inside the rooms are old and feels like I have gone to grandparents house, which is also a positive though.

Crowding in the lobby, lunch hours

I stayed at the Grand Hotel on MG Road for 3 nights and had okayish stay.What worked well:1. The rooms are spacious and the air-conditioning was effective.2. The hotel is budget-friendly, offering value for money on that front.3. Its location is a definite plus — centrally placed on MG Road, it’s convenient for shopping and accessing nearby eateries and city attractions.

Areas that could be improved:1. The elevators had a persistent musty smell, and the carpets in the corridor (at least on the second floor) gave off an unpleasant odor, possibly due to a spill or lack of deep cleaning. This did impact the overall experience.2. The room I stayed in offered no real view — the windows opened directly to the metro tracks, which might not bother everyone, but is worth noting for those expecting something more scenic.3. The Wi-Fi was extremely weak throughout my stay. I found myself relying on my mobile data, which was manageable for a leisure trip, but would be a significant inconvenience for business travelers.4. While the junior staff at the front desk were polite and helpful, some of the more senior team members came across as a bit indifferent. Their approach seemed more functional than customer-focused — reminiscent of older hospitality styles. In today’s competitive landscape, a warmer, more service-oriented attitude would make a meaningful difference in guest satisfaction and loyalty.Overall, the Grand Hotel still has a few strengths, especially its location and affordability, but some attention to guest experience and upkeep would go a long way in making it a place people would look forward to returning to.

Breakfast was below average . Bathrooms should be upgraded with a countertop to keep ur things . Floor is slippery which is dangerous . May be should use railing s . Bathrooms need renovation

Beautiful property, historic location with a famous restaurant. Amazing wooden rooms and furniture.

Every time they cleaned our bathroom, it’s smelled worse than before they cleaned it. Something must be wrong with their mops or something. Ventilation in the bathroom didn’t work. There were no towel racks except inside of the tiny shower, so the towels were never dry. The toilet flushed so strongly that it splashed dirty water all over the bathroom floor whenever you flush it. Beds were super uncomfortable. We asked to switch room, but the staff said all the beds were the same.

The breakfast was worst and doesn’t even worth the money paid. Definitely have to improve
