Pros +
- Great staff, amazing views, quaint town to just explore.
- Nicely designed rooms which were clean and comfortable. The view was also incredible!
- The view and the asteic
Cons -
- Room was a bit small if you've got anything more than a carry on bag. Bathroom is even smaller for anyone over 6' - recommend a mirror in the main room to fix this problem.
- The restaurant was closed Monday and Tuesday (both days we were there) but this wasn’t a big problem.
- The location with no way to get there but walk. O ly 1 taxi on the entire island AND restaurant was closed for dinner the night we were there and finding somewhere to dine became major event!

The view!Once you get into the right room: nice wood decoration. Ample space.
Ridiculously small room, up a dangerously steep hill. One has to hold a rope to climb to it.Totally unsafe for seniors. The bathroom was outside the bedroom. Also tiny.We had to ask for a different room and pay the difference. On top of it, they charged a cleaning fee (we had not use the room!). The new room was nice. The sofa was stained. Great view. The breakfast was scant and repetitive. The dinner was reasonable (but unavailable on Mondays). Once we asked for a new room they kept interrupting our dinner to ask for money, for key to the bad room. Etc.it was annoying and embarrassing.Did I mention that there is no lobby?
Minimal modern design, simple and clean.
The location is up to a hill and there is no car pick up service. No much food offering for dinner.
We had the traditional cottage and it was great. Very Japanese but with a western style bath outside looking ver the bay to the sunset. The other accom was very modern and nice. A short walk up a steep hill from the Ferry.
In winter not many of the restaurants in town were open. The food at My Lodge was very good.
The view from our room (the corner room) was absolutely incredible! It had a panoramic view of the shoreline! The beds were very comfortable and the room was very nice overall.
The breakfast was quite unlike other breakfasts we have had in Japan. It consisted of a bowl of tomato soup, a salad, raisin bread, a sausage, and coffee. It seemed like a strange combination of Western and Eastern breakfasts that didn't really work. We were open to either one, but this seemed like a hard combination. It was challenging to get from the ferry terminal to My Lodge. A large portion of the fifteen-minute walk was up a very steep hill. There were also no ramps or elevators and two steep stairwells one had to climb. This felt inaccessible to anyone with disabilities.
- Beautiful view on the bay from my room and from the restaurant - central and really quite- excellent breakfast - friendly and helpful staff
- floor was a little dusty and walls would need a refresh
The views! Comfortable rooms, modern sustainable construction, outstanding dinners
Nothing of consequence
Amazing view, clean modern facility and excellent food at the restaurant.
I’m a big American (6’-1”), as with most Japanese hotels the bathroom is small for my big body. This is part of traveling in Japan and I have no complaints but want other big people to know what to expect.
Amazing view, convenient location which was great to get bike rentals and start the day.
For our western taste, the breakfast was strange & we wouldn’t eat again.
Location, food, staff, cleanliness, great views, quiet location, Muji aesthetic,
Great room with food facilities
Had to walk from ferry to hotel which was hard and uphill with suitcases
Beautiful view, accommodating staff, and friendly cats! We absolutely loved our stay. However, if you have any difficulty walking or with stairs, this isn’t the place for you.
Beautiful room and lovely restaurant
Bed was slightly uncomfortable but ok for the price
View from our deck and windows. Awesome sunsets. We chose one of the 2 corner apartments in Building B. Comfy bed and pillows!
Quite a climb up a long hill to reach hotel. We’re fit seniors-small luggage so no huge problem - just be aware as also steep flight of steps to reach building B rooms.Staff friendly but felt they were inexperienced for facility/cost of the accomodation. Dont rate the breakfast option- dining room too small hot n stuffy and food mediocre. We recommend Sparkies Cafe by the port- open daily 8am( not Mondays).
The views from the room were gorgeous and tranquil. The dinner at the restaurant was also surprisingly tasty.
The beds were pretty hard… and I don’t mind a firm bed, but this was a bit too much for my taste.
Lovely staff and dinner and breakfast were delicious. The rooms were lovely and comfortable too, with a nice view.
It was difficult with stairs and luggage but the hotel staff were very, very helpful
We spent 3 weeks travelling around Japan and this was by far the largest room during our travels. The facilities were very comfortable and clean and it was so relaxing to have such a beautiful view outside the window. We were already aware that it can be difficult to find restaurants that are open on the island for dinner and one of the staff members was very helpful and made a reservation at New Olympia (a Japanese restaurant) on our behalf which we would recommend.
We opted for the breakfast the first morning during our stay and unfortunately found it to be very disappointing. The piece of bread provided was extremely dry and rest of the offering limited. - We also overheard other travellers discussing their disappointment on this particular morning so it is always good to have additional snacks from the supermarket when needed. Apart from this one minor point we would definitely recommend staying at My Lodge and really enjoyed our time on the island.
The view from our room was spectacular. Its a hike to get up to the hotel but well worth it. I would have liked an option for one big bed instead of two singles, but the room was very clean and tidy, and the balcony a nice treat.
Beds were small and very hard, but the view made up for it!
