Situated on a cliff giving it a nice view of the ocean

Air conditioning is so old it can not cool hotel thus humidity, heat, and musty smell are overwhelming. Impossible to get comfortable and when we brought it to the hotels attention within 30mins, they said it just is what it is and refused a refund.

The room was outdated , there are a lot of stairs to reach the sea , I wish there was an elevator or something, the food at the restaurant could be a bit more tasty

Very nice with phenomenal view of the bay and ocean. Room was larger than those in the big cities. The checkin staff including the shuttle driver were friendly and check in was expeditiously handled. The onsen bath was very nice. We opted for dinner at the hotel’s La Mier restaurant - very elegant and the service and food served were excellent. The restaurant has Al carte and set menu options to choose from. Prices are what you’d expect for fine dinning. Besides the excellent service and ambience of the restaurant, the presentation of the dishes was very well done. The morning breakfast was also very good with a wide range of food options.A very pleasant and relaxing place to stay!

The property may be nearing its time for a remodeling- carpets in the room showing its age.

The hotel is beautiful. It feels like a tropical paradise with views of the beach from the room, the swimming pool, palm trees everywhere. It is well managed and clean. My room was gigantic and well organized. Included a tv set, an electric kettle, a fridge, complimentary drinks. It was very comfortable.

The location is gorgeous, but not practical for exploring the town (on a sizable hill, away from Shimoda’s center). But I admit that there is a useful van which offers rides between the hotel and the train station. Also, the breakfast venue is way too small for so many hotel guests. At times you might need to wait to eat for an hour!

Staff were really friendly, we were always greeted and helped when needed. Onsen was great!

The room was spacious, the video from the balcony was incredible, and breakfast had a good selection of traditional + local foods, even though it was a little small for choice for the price. The shuttle bus from and to the train station was a lifesaver.

The room was old, the bathroom was dirty - the shower had dark, long hair stuck to the walls (we are blond) from previous guests, and there was mold in the cracks. The staff didn't quite understand much, even with a translator - my husband asked for a packed lunch to take on his dive - the staff refused because of the hot weather and they didn't want to take the risk, yet all the other people who went to dive from the hotel had the packed lunch box. When he complained, he was then offered a lunch box for the second day, which was miraculously now possible. In the end, the lunch box that he had been rejected on the first day was included in the bill. The outdoor pool is very nice, but it closes at 5 pm, which is extremely early. The wonderful "beach" is super small and a bit dirty. To get there, you have to walk a long way down a stone staircase + walk more, and in the evening, after 7 pm, it's pitch dark with no lights.

Breakfast selection was good. View was good. Facilities were clean.

Wish there were more dinner options. And more ready to eat food or easily prepared food at the hotel store. Would have been so great if there was a convenience store since the hotel is a bit isolated.

Views of the sea.

Extremely hard to get to. Really high prices. Everything at the hotel closing at 5pm.

The booking listed the room as "balcony with mountain view". Seeing the photos, I was nervous about this not being a good view. There is a sea. Actually, these are the best rooms. From the balcony you have a view of the sea. (Though from inside the room, you can mostly only see the mountain.) Moreover, the rooms with sea views have no balcony. So, if you are confused by which room. Go for the "balcony with mountain view" ones.The Onsen was delightful and had a great view. Go while it is light out!We also got the breakfast included. Usually, I avoid hotel breakfasts. Well, not in Japan, and not at this resort. The breakfast is well worth it, and there are also not really other nearby options.

Great breakfast! Nice View. Limited food option within hotel. Transportation to and from downtown can be cumbersome, so rent a car for freedom to move about the area freely.

Better shuttle bus or taxi system to and from downtown/train station. More flexible schedules.

Staff was super friendly from the beginning of our arrival until the end of our trip. Shuttle bus to the train station was a great service to have for our family to get dinner in the city.

Very nice stay and the staffs. I left my AirPods in the room while heading to Tokyo after checkout, and the staff help to deliver it back to me! Excellent service and highly recommend:)

I loved the view, room and fantastic breakfast buffet

I was there on the weekend and the only had fine dining for dinner. When we were checking out it was a buffet dinner which I am sure I would have enjoyed.

The breakfast was excellent…so much to choose from and food was good. The location is a bit inconvenient but the shuttle service was very helpful and the shuttle driver was the best! I think the hotel should offer an another shuttle service from hotel to town around 18:00 to 19:00 for people who wants to shuttle to town for dinner. The front desk and concierge was very helpful.
