Vientiane SP Hotel

Good location , close to a night market, with good variety of street food. The family managing the hotel were very helpful, with booking activities, and transport. Good breakfast. ?

AThe buffet breakfast is a highlight. Western and eastern choice, it’s very fresh, lots of ingredients, healthy and not so healthy all catered for. Don't get too hungover and miss this opportunity. Location v convenient, can walk to heaps of shops, restaurants, bars, massages, the Mekong.

There is road work in the streets nearby you need to be wary of this they sometimes block walkways etc (March 2025). the tv reception was not great for all channels. Also for some reason they never answered a call to reception, but staff otherwise v helpful.

All great, lovely building, very nice room, lovely people.

Just the shower wasn't very hot and the water flow was weak.

Breakfast on the front veranda were excellent providing a nice mix of Lao and western food.

The WiFi was really slow. It was hard to get anything done on my iPad because of this.

The included breakfast was tasty and generous.

The bathroom was filthy, previous guests hairs were everywhere. Room was dusty. ‘Clean glasses’ were dirty and covered in previous toothpaste residue. Staff were unfriendly.

The location was good and the lady on reception was very helpful.

The WiFi was not good. We also felt the hotel overall was not very clean, especially the reception/dinning area.

The property was based in a good location, the room is basic and bed was comfortable. The staff were nice.

The lobby of the hotel was very cluttered and felt more like a home stay with staff sleeping in sofas. The lobby smelt of mice. With the smell of mice we lacked confidence in the included breakfast so we just ate cereal.

Probably a bit too much junk on ground floor when could be a really nice cafe...and the sound carries in this old house...but this family run hotel has charm and they are lovely people. I love places like this and the location is the best district..cafe culture land

Good location, breakfast was OK, room was basic but comfortable.

No elevator. Only soap was in wall dispenser, no other toiletries. No coffee or tea in room

I was very satisfied with my stay. Although the room equipment was older, everything was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was also tasty. The approach of the staff was very accommodating. I recommend!

The departure

I had bedbugs from the bunk beds. I did not feel comfortable at all and the people there smelled like wild animals. Their body odour was so bad, I even thought about sleeping with a mask on. The guests do not seem to value personal hygiene at all. Keep that in mind if you book it.

Homely hotel. They made a real efford off the breakfast, hostess dressed up in the morning in beautiful Lao clothes. Bed was very comfortable !

Shower head was broken, no air conditioning on the ground floor. No elevator (we stayed on the 4th floor).

Small ish quiet hotel not far from the mix. Shower was hot and bed was comfy by Lao standards. Breakfast and coffee available, many foods available nearby.

Outdated, small rooms

The location of the hotel is a real plus as it's close to the night market and food options, which makes walking even in hot conditions possible, but it is also location in a little side alley and is therefore super quiet. Breakfast is served on the little terrace and the food even though it's not heated (I mainly took breakfast right at 7am when it was served and it was delicious, when I came around 8am on Saturday it was lukewarm... still tasty but not quite as good as before). I had an working aircon and a fan in my room, which cooled it down nicely. It's a family business, so you see the whole family involved, which is nicer than the larger chains and gives it a bit of a family feel. The rooms are clear and you are asked if you want it cleaned or not, which I really like as I don't think a daily clean is always needed. As I was staying for work and only came to sleep, it was exactly what I needed, convenient, quiet, affordable and walkable to restaurants and bars.

It's an authentic experience in the sense that everything is a little improvised and dated; as it's family run you do see cleaning cupboards open and teenagers in the lobby from time to time - they are super friendly and seeing the young daughter leaving for school in the morning gave a sense of normal life. Everything is well kept and clean but if you're looking for a western experience, this might not be for you. Be aware that the shower is only cold (for most of Lao this is the case) and it's not in a separate cubicle so you tend to flood your bathroom when showering (dries quickly in the heat but might still be good to know)

The.owner/manager helped me arrange onward travel which had been difficult. The central location was excellent.
