Food was ok. But the breakfast spread is very less compare to other 5 star hotels. Some staff are good.

Below are the specific issues we faced:Non-functional Fountain in the Swimming Pool AreaOne of the major attractions of your hotel—the poolside fountain—was non-functional. Upon inquiry, the reception informed us it had not been working for two years due to maintenance issues. However, I personally visited The Retreat in December 2023, and the fountain was fully operational then. This contradiction is both confusing and misleading. A scenic pool view is a big factor for guests choosing your hotel, especially when we are paying a premium rate. Additionally, it sounds completely unrealistic that the waterfall has been under maintenance for 2 years.Absence of Birds and Aesthetic ExperienceOn our previous visits, the birds that gathered near the fountain added to the beauty and charm of the view. This time, due to the non-functional fountain, there was no such experience. It felt dull and lifeless.Unavailability of Poolside BedsWe were surprised to find there were no poolside resting beds available. We had to specifically ask for it, after which only a single bed was placed near the jacuzzi. This is highly regrettable for a hotel of your stature.Cold Water in Jacuzzi During the DayWhen we first arrived, we went to use the jacuzzi. Since it had just been turned on, the water wasn’t warm. The staff there said the water would heat up after a while, but even after almost two hours, the water remained lukewarm. It was not hot. Later at night, around 8 PM, when my wife and I used the jacuzzi again, the water was indeed warm. So why wasn’t the water hot in the afternoon when we used it earlier?I had asked my in-laws to use the jacuzzi in the afternoon, especially because they have back pain issues and warm water could have helped. But it was of no use—sitting in the jacuzzi during the day didn’t benefit them at all. **Rating: ★☆☆☆☆**The Retreat Hotel & Convention Centre is far from a 5-star experience. Hygiene and service were major letdowns. At the Chinese restaurant, I witnessed waiters preparing drinks by handling fruits like pineapple and watermelon with bare hands, dropping them on the bar counter, picking them up again—still with bare hands—and placing them on glasses without tongs or gloves. One even dipped his hand in a water bucket and wiped it on his uniform. I left my meal halfway—it was disturbing.The welcome drinks were left open in glasses near the reception, fully exposed. The food was no better: the fish was not fresh despite my request, the chips were soggy, and tea was sent to the room without even a cookie. During breakfast, I found a small stone in my omelet—staff brushed it off as "uncrushed black pepper" even though it hurt my tooth.We booked 3 rooms on the 4th floor, and the key cards kept failing. After shifting to another room, the door was so tight that even staff struggled to open it, but no solution was offered. The intercoms barely worked, making even internal communication a headache. The reception ended up calling our personal numbers instead.We were also denied access to complimentary high tea simply because we didn’t book directly—ridiculous for staying guests. I raised all of this to multiple managers, but got the usual fake smile and “we’ll look into it” with zero action.Definitely not worth the price or the star rating they advertise.

Over all view and the hotel was good ?

The room after taking shower turns foggy on the wooden flooring due to AC. Food is very expensive ? nothing additional as in we ordered Veg pulav it came without any Raita. Didn't expect the food like this.

I liked the room. The view was good. I think you should extend your beach timings. The purpose of visiting this place is going to the beach.

The reception staff need to up their services

The pool is extremely dirty. It was only for the crows and cranes. The food is over priced. Overall the property is also extremely far. The staff were cooperative and friendly. Over all it was below average.

Bad

We didn't like the over charging system and customer front desk services as they are charging more than offered in booking.com and they compelled us to cancel the booking time and again. We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights but they even didn't compromise on the offers which provided to other customers. The system of customer choosing is not acceptable at all through the professional manner.

The biggest disadvantage is stench so we did not stay

The smell of fish - very poor area, hard to get to central parts of Mumbai, and pushy reception staff who disturb at 6am for payments

Just stayed one night and hence cant say a lot. Nice spacious hotel large rooms. However the road which is under repair is horrible to travel to and out of the hotel

THE WORST PROPERTY I HAVE EVER STAYED OUT OF 30 COUNTRIES TRAVELLED. THE SMELL IS AWWWWFUL. IT SMELLS LIKE A FISH MONGERS. THE STAFF ARE NOT COMPASSIONATE ABOUT THIS HORRIFYING ODOUR AND ARE OBLIVIOUS TO THE FACT. IT IS NOT 5*. IT IS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. AND IT IS NOT VEGAN FRIENDLY.

EVERYTHING. IT SMELLS SO TERRIBLY. LOCATION IS AWFUL WITH HOURS WORTH OF TRAFIC ON THE ROUTE TO THUS TRANDED PROPERTY. TOTALLY EMPTY. NO ATMOSPHERE. UNHELPFUL STAFF. NO VEGAN FOOD. FALSE AMENITIES LISTED ON THE AD. DEFINITELY NOT A RETREAT HOTEL AND OFFENSIVE TO EVEN LABEL IT A 5*

The property is very huge beautiful space they should bring the vibes lights and energy…

The pool is huge, but the fountain is out of service due to ongoing work. The jacuzzi is also not in use. There's no music or dance floor active, lacks weekend vibes.

The stay was good and so were the rooms. the staff was polite and helpful.

We were surprised that our rooms did not have complimentary breakfast. Booking.com should have informed us of this. we would have looked at other options. we had booked 2 rooms.how can the room tariffs not have complimentary breakfast cost ? our email for confirmation of rooms did not mention that breakfast was not included.

Overall facility is good, Retreat area is very good, we all enjoyed the games there

The extreme bad smell of dry fish was very much intolerable Breakfast was not upto the mark ( very less options for the price paid for Hotel room, Taste not good specially Idli and cakes )Room not maintained that wellWhen asked for cutlery, it was informed that it's chargeable , usually in Marriott these are given free for guests Receptionist was not at all accomodative , had to speak with mangers to get room pool facing by paying Rs 500

Food was good but it's not value for money. Its expensive compared to what v paying or compare to other 4 stars

So less choices to eat, no cheese, few fruits. Not worth.

Front desk was only there for creating problems and saying they are sorry. I payed for 2 nights but could barely stayed 1 night and fleed. Hotel was smelly (dried fish smell coming from so called beach)

Location was gud, but rest everything was so bad and horrible. very bed dry fish small in all area, very poor cleaning and ununprofessional staff, just forcing to put gud reviews. not worth for the price. not recommend to other.
