    Pros +

    • This hotel is a great value for what you pay. It is very close to the bus terminal which can cheaply take you up to the more scenic areas where the more expensive hotels are located. It is also less than a minute's walk from Nikko Station.
    • We stayed here several nights and we loved it. The hotel is a bit dated but clean and comfortable. The location is excellent, literally across the street from the train station and a couple of blocks from the bus station. The staff was very friendly and so helpful in assisting us with the bus schedules (in English). Breakfast was great because they had curry for breakfast! Loved the public bath with the outdoor pool. There is a sitting area where you can have complimentary tea or coffee. We just felt so comfortable at this hotel. I would definitely come back.
    • Close to the station and outdoor onsen

    Cons -

    • The staff just barely speak enough English to check you in and out. I speak enough Japanese to make it easy, but don't expect to have any English interaction with the staff beyond basic check-in/out.
    • Nothing. I think if this hotel was "modernized", it would lose some of its charm and hominess.
    • TVs are old and internet wifi is weak. This should improve. Breakfast was not much, no meats, eggs are poached. Only breads, was not happy with the breakfast buffet.

The room is wide and onsen is good.

Breakfast can improve in terms of variety.

Great location and vibes. Across the train station and walking distance from shops.

Food and breakfast was a bit scarce.

    8AdriennePosted on: 12-3-2025

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was excellent. It was very nice to have the onsen in this hotel. The location directly opposite the JR Station was excellent.

The bed was one of the less comfortable ones we have had on this trip

The location is excellent. It is just across the street from the Nikko JR Station. The room is very spacious and comfortable.

The furnishing in the room is quite outdated especially the bathroom . The bathtub is very slippery.Breakfast is very simple with limited choices.

Onsen was nice, location is close to the station.Overall breakfast is really simple but generous.

The room seems outdated but clean.Front of the hotel needs remodelled, but inside the hotel was really nice.

    The location and public bath

The room was very old and smelled musty, and the bahroom had persistent, foul stench. The room like this is not worth for USD200 per night on weekday. Would never stay there again. The worst hotel I have ever stayed.

    7KathrynPosted on: 11-19-2025

The location was great, just down the street from the train station. The breakfast was good. The onset was wonderful after hiking through all the temples and shrines.

The restaurant in the hotel didn’t have any vegetarian options and it closed early.

Nice location very close to JR Nikko St. and Tobu Nikko St. The room was quite spacious but the bed was quite small and narrow, not comfortable to sleep. Breakfast was OK but limited choice of food. The best thing was Onsen particular outdoor onsen , very relaxing. The staff was nice and helpful. The room price was not cheap though.

The hotel location is great—right across from the train station. Very easy to travel.

The room was old and smelled musty as soon as we walked in. The service was nothing special. The worst part was the breakfast. There were very few choices and small amounts of food. The rice ran out, and they never refilled it. This hotel is too expensive for what you get.

    7AndersonPosted on: 10-18-2025

Good location and very easy to access, just a short walk from the train station. Staff were always cordial and helpful.

    Breakfast was limited

The Nikko Station hotel was in a great location, just a block from the Tobu Nikko station, where the train from Asakusa comes in, and also where the World Heritage shuttle bus picks up. The staff were really nice, although no one really spoke much English. My room was very large and the bed was large and comfortable. The AC worked great too, and I appreciated the refrigerator and kettle in the room. The breakfast was just OK.

The breakfast had very limited choices for westerners. Only hard boiled eggs and breads, and some yogurt. Everything else was fishy or curry. The juices were unusual combinations, no apple juice.

    7DavidPosted on: 9-18-2025

Helpful staff, convenient location near Nikko and Toby Nikko Stations

Both our room and room of others we were traveling with smelled musty. Breakfast was marginal- about what you’d expect at a mediocre airline lounge. Signs everywhere telling you not to take too much or waste food. Beds were small.

    7EwaPosted on: 8-23-2025

Location is very comfortable to walk. Hot spring spa. Staff has great command of English.

Facility needs a bit of cleaning. Carpets…

    7OliviaPosted on: 7-28-2025

We chose this hotel because it’s a stone’s throw away from the Tobu-Nikko train station and the bus station that takes one to all the attractions in/around Nikko. You can also choose to walk to the World Heritage Shrines and Temples, which are about a 40 min casual walk from the hotel. What is useful to note is that most, if not everything closes at 17h00 in Nikko except for a handful of restaurants. Thankfully, there’s a 24/7 Family Mart within walking distance.

It’s dated and although everything functions as it should, it’s rather worn. The beds aren’t comfortable but served its purpose and AC filter hasn’t been changed in awhile (the change filter notification was on).

    8VeronicaPosted on: 7-5-2025

Nikko is amazing, favorite place we visited. The hotel was old, but well maintained, the staff were very nice, the room was comfortable, and breakfast was simple but tasty.

The bed was very firm, and the shower area could have used a bit more cleaning.

    8SarahPosted on: 6-23-2025

Convenient to both train stations, very nice onsen, lounge and first floor breakfast area. I appreciated the table and chairs in the room with an outstanding view over the JR station from 1914. Room is large for Japan. Staff is fantastic. Conveniently located next to a bakery and a brewery and within a five-minute walk of the bus terminal.

Property is clearly older and needs a refresh; carpets were stained. Also, the buffet breakfast is very limited, and does not change from day to day.
