    Pros +

    • - It is very close to the station. Thus, going around is really not a problem.
    • The location was very nice. Close to the train station and right next to the gorge. The staff was helpful and walked with us to our cottage. The public onsen was nice, I like that the outside bath was a bit less hot. We also rented the private onsen for an hour which was the best part of our stay!
    • It is difficult to locate the hotel and the access to the room from the reception lobby is far and difficult to walk (particularly when carrying lugguge)

    Cons -

    • - The room that we booked is not very well lit. It is challenging to move around without being able to change the light setting. The room was very dim.- The path going to the cottages was not clean at all. - Some furnishings in the room needs to be upgraded.
    • The cottage was very outdated and dirty. The bathroom was smelly. The cottages were far away from the main building and the path to it was not great. Slippery, dirty, missing floor tiles. The location and the onsen saved our stay but I would look for a different accommodation if I were to return to this area.
    • It is difficult to locate the hotel by car. And the access to the room from the reception lobby is far and difficult to walk (particularly when carrying lugguge)

Awesome private onsenThe front desk staff were really helpful and spoke english. The bed was really comfortable

The room was really cold and I froze all nightThe room was really dated like 1955The fridge didnt work so we lost all our food

It had a very convenient location and the staff was very nice.

The rooms didn’t really match the picture and was kind of run down a little bit, and the first night we had to fight off 2 stink bugs.

The onsite onsens were nice, and the staff was friendly. The beds are super comfortable and not rock hard like other Japanese beds. Sheets and towels were clean. The ramen shop in the basement is lovely, the couple who run it are kind and make delicious food. Air conditioning is strong ??

The cottages are located a bit of a distance away from the main hotel, and are noticeably old. You will be walking up stairs, and walking outside at night. Quite a few bugs got into my room. Not great value for money.

They have staffs to guide you to your room and they're very accommodating .

If you're on the cottage, it could be a little far if you go out just to buy something and to go to onsen on the main building. But it's not really that bad

Can't beat the charm, friendly and attentive staff and location. This is perfect for a relaxing stay at an authentic Japanese inn with onsen. Choose between traditional Japanese room with futons or more western beds. The view over the river is first classThis is not a modern resort and the appreciation is in feeling like you are in another period of time. Exactly the break I needed from modern demands. WiFi included. Public baths are clean and well appointed. Loved the massage service. 7-Eleven is next door for ATM and snacks. Can't beat the value.

Futons and tables in traditional rooms were low... On the floor.

Absolutely loved our stay here. The Onsen was perfect, staff was extremely friendly and helped us with everything we needed, and the location was great. Its a large hotel with all the amenities that are needed right at your fingertips. Very authentic experience in a wonderful location.

The property is part of the Park Hotel in Kinugawa Onsen. It is a short walk from the train station. The rooms were massive for a Japanese hotel.

The cottages were quite dated in decor and upkeep. There was no air conditioning, just a ventilator. The rooms are in serious need of a refresh.

It’s close to the station and next to convenience store which was really helpful since there are barely any restaurant nearby open at night. We tried the private bath which was really relaxing, the cottage have great view of the river. There is a store inside the property for souvenirs, lots of interesting stuff.

It is old so the furniture can be rusty and the size of the bathroom was small but i expected that. We were hoping to try the restaurant within the property but it was reservations only.

Beautiful room. Comfortable bed. Foreigner-friendly staff.

    7EddyPosted on: 6-22-2025

View outside my room was breathtaking as requested, very quiet.

Rooms are quite dated and furniture and everything around is pretty old. Railing outside the window is rusty and chipped badly despite the view from the window being so amazing.

    7ZiadPosted on: 4-27-2025

The facility is really good, and in a good location. Very nice view from the room. And the common area is very good.

    Better pillows should be replaced.

    7NicolaPosted on: 4-17-2025

    View, spacious room, onsen

Needed a facelift. Some of the tiles were lifting up.

    8JonathanPosted on: 4-14-2025

room was nice. The view was good. the baths were good

long walk to the cottages. did not find an elevator, used stairs to move luggage.

    7HaniPosted on: 4-7-2025

I liked the location, the size of the room was good. However, there was no complimentary water bottles or coffee in the room.

    3MaggiePosted on: 3-17-2025

The price because it was relativly cheap. But when we arrived and saw how it looked, we knew why. And parking which belongs to the hotel.

It's very old, looked like it's from the 60s. Many things were broken and unrepaired. There was a mold in the room. Dirty windows and curtains. The window net was broken. The room smelled bad. Many tiles fell off the stairs. Heating was working but also smelled like "humid". We had 2 twin bed, they were big enough for 1 person. The walk from reception to the room was very long and we had to use stairs with our luggage. There was only one small lamp in the ceiling. I went to the onsen, it smelled bad, and there were mothers with their small children. There is nothing around the hotel, no restaurant, nothing to do in the evening. There was an additional charge at the reception because it's a hotel with onsen, which everybody has to pay. Would not recomend this hotel to anybody.

Superb view to the mountain river and great Onsen ( there is option for private onsen as well ) . Staff also very friendly

The heating in the room was a bit tricky: too much or nothing at all ..

    10DanielPosted on: 2-28-2025

Onsen was very nice. Hotel located centrally in Kinugasa, grounds and aesthetic were very well done.

Rooms could use a refresher, a bit dated but excellent value for the cost.
