    Pros +

    • Low price. It has room.for 3 with 3 separate beds.
    • The small onsen was a very nice touch as was the free breakfast, which had variety.
    • Walking distance to Nikko Station. Private hot tub, large room with sofa.

    Cons -

    • The opening- air space bathroom. It would work for summer but not for fall or winter time. Some mattresses are old. The room has odor.
    • It was outdated and could use some touch ups, the beds were hard, you could feel the springs.
    • No coffee in room.

The staff was super accommodating and helpful. The shuttle to and from town was excellent. I enjoyed the private and public onsens

    The room could be updated

Staff were very friendlyBreakfast was very nice and great Dinner options also.Room was comfy with a nice size onsen and shower onthe balcony. Lovely old Isuzu car as you walk into the building.

    7YakinikuPosted on: 11-11-2024

The room was small but had everything you need. This price is cheap even though there is a hot spring in the room.

There was a shower on the terrace, but it was cold in winter. It would have been better to have a shower in the room.

the counter staff are attentive and helpful. Walking to the hotel from the train station with luggage is quite an exercise due to the hotel at high ground. The good news is that one could actually use their sister hotel shuttle.. which is a real savior though I am not sure if you arrive in the morning (since check in is at 3pm), there is shuttle provided or not.

the room wifi signal is weak and we need to use our own data plan.

We felt very relaxed and comfortable at the hotel. The en suite open air onsen and the public onsen were both wonderful. Many reviews talked about the dated facilities but we however felt it gave old-timer charm. The only drawback is that the location is a bit out of the town. Having said that the newly opened cafeteria provided dinner options which suited us fine. We will stay there again.

Nearby food centre had a surprisingly good selection, small hot baths

    A bit remote from town

    7KUMARESANPosted on: 8-16-2024

Very convenient Location, Restaurant was also available which was so convenient for tourists. Breakfast provided was so good. Daily Cleaning service was a good idea. Parking area was so convenient

Excepted more interms of amenities. TV provided was not convenient for international travelers only Japanese channels was available. Towel was bit old. Corridor doesn’t smell good

Shower and soaking tub on the balcony is the move! Excellent water pressure and temperature. Nice empty fridge. Friendly staff. Hold your key for you. Serenity.

Mattress was thin and done! Carpet is not clean.

    Bed was too hard

    9CodyPosted on: 11-23-2023

The amenities and food and friendly staff

It was a bit far from the rest of the town. More frequent shuttle buses would have been appreciated

    9GregPosted on: 11-2-2023

The onsen on the verandah of the room was amazing at the end of a long day of walking. The hotel is a little unusual, by western standards, but the staff are great, the room comfortable and Nikko is amazing in autumn colours.

It is a little challenging to get from the hotel to the station where all the tours and buses leave from, but not impossible. The hotel has a shuttle the does three trips in during the morning and three out in the afternoon, there are local buses, though not regular, and a taxi costs less than 1000 yen.

    8JpPosted on: 10-26-2023

Female receptionist was very friendly and fluent in English. Onsen bath on the room balcony was nice. Free shuttle to the train station after checking out was appreciated. The private onsen was decent, although we wished the fence was lower as to see the garden.

The bed mattress was a little too firm. The generator outside the front was too loud making the balcony onsen non relaxing. All of the awnings on the front of the building were torn and ragged (unlike old photos on here).

    8DoosePosted on: 10-20-2023

Staff were great! The in room Onsen and outdoor facially were both really nice; used them both! They provided a shuttle to and from the station

It was very comfortable but could use a little updating. The walls may be a bit thin for some, I could hear someone snoring before I fell asleep

    2ClaraPosted on: 10-7-2023

The staff was very kind and helpful. The onsen tub on the balcony was fun, and just as was expected from the photos

The rooms smelled strongly of mold; I strongly do not recommend it to anyone with asthma / resparitoy issues/small kids. Also the shower was broken and taped together (which would have been fine for a cheap rate but this was over 100 usd a night).

    8BethPosted on: 5-18-2023

Onsen is the highlight, great budget option. The staff were also so helpful. They let us drop our bags off before check in and helped us with a shuttle back to the train station when we checked out at no extra cost. It's a little old but the onsen and staff make up for it.

It's a little bit away from the train station and up a big hill so plan ahead how you will get from the train station to the hotel if you don't have a car.

    10ErwinPosted on: 4-19-2023

The common onsen is great but having the private onsen on the balcony is amazing! It's also quite fun to take your morning shower in the balcony but it's probably because we were there in April
