    Pros +

    • Do check their official website to check what they can offer! The hotel is a surprise, a germ of Kinukawa onsen area. Affordable for solo travelers and definitely value more than what I paid. It is a bit dated but well-maintained. The room is clean and spacious. I was worried about the “smoking room” option but there was little smell in my room, so totally acceptable. A well decorated lobby with great sense of interior design. They do have a wonderful onsen (both outdoor and indoor) in the hotel and offer other private onsen options. Very friendly and patient staff. Had a very enjoyable 3-night stay there.
    • I enjoyed the very big room and it's traditional style. The onsen part is also very good. The staff didn't know a lot of english but they were super helpful and we were able to communicate.
    • Kindness of the host and the japanise style of the hotel

    Cons -

    • Although it’s very walkable from the station and convenient stores but it’s not a short walk with luggage. There are a few dial buses but do check the schedule.
    • The location of the onsen is a bit confusing for a non-japanese speaker as you need to wonder through a long hallway with little to no english info. The facilities are nice and confy. They have a manga room, very cool.
    • No breakfast

The place had a nice ambience. Well maintained. 7/11 is 7 min by walk. They have private hot bath.

    The toilet doesn't have bidet.

traditional Japanese onsen hotel.if you’re not looking for a luxurious hotel and onsen, and just trying to stay for a night in the area and walk around the onsen district, this hotel is suitable for you. for the amount of money I paid, it’s what I expected to get

    9NeauPosted on: 7-10-2023

    Big Room! And veeeery peaceful/calm

Onsen is incredible but far from room

    7VladimírPosted on: 5-31-2023

The room was nice, large, there was a table and chairs in it what is not so often in Japan.

The communication with the receptionist was a nightmare. He was not able to give any advise about trains - I had to walk in rain to the station to get them, he was not able to arrange a taxi for us (one member of the group had problem with walking) and in spite of the message on the reception that in his abscence there it is possible to reach him always on certain phone number, it was not true.To get to this hotel from Nikko was more difficult than we expected.

I’ve stayed here maybe 3 times now. The staff are always very kind and accommodating. The onsen has a beautiful view of the forest and the rooms are very comfortable and spacious.

I like everything though the fan in the shower room is a bit loud and I wasn’t sure how to turn it off.

The room was wonderful and gigantic ! The bed was very confortable and you can get also a yukata where there are all other amenities. The staff, also in they don't speak english, are very kind and helpful. They have also a relaxing room where you can read a lot of mangas. I hope, one day, to have the chance to come back again in this hotel !

It could be a better experience had the hotel had more communication in English. There is no restaurant at the hotel so need to eat before returning to hotel - long way from any restaurants. There is a bus that does the run of hotels at number 5 stop immediately right on exit of the station. On boarding tell driver the hotel and he will drop you off at the entrance - the bus will pickup from hotel also at schedule times displayed at front desk as shuttle bus but you have to ask front desk to book.Otherwise generally good value for money..Nice onsen area.Had very good WiFi even though it said no WiFi

The hotel rooms had no amenities like hot water jugs but had a fridge. They should have a microwave as well as no restaurant at the hotel. so amenities to reheat meals would have been welcomed. The rooms very very spacious but tired.

Great traditional japanese type of hotel! The staff doesn't speak English but they are extremely nice and helpful. The Onsen was a bit of a weird walk through empty rooms but once you get there, it is just the most peaceful area. The view from our room was also great. Loved our stay there.

A bit far from everything, but that's also the charm of it if you're looking for quiet. And the spring mattress on the floor was not the most comfortable.

    9PatPosted on: 3-27-2023

Hot spring was very nice. Can also go to sister hotel. But I didn't try because of weekend too many guest

Dont stay at this racist hotel

This hotel required a copy of my ID. While I don't mind them looking at my ID, there is no law requiring them photocopy the IDs. They said the 'police required them to copy' the ID and pointed me to a poster.I was worried about what they do to copies of my ID. Other hotels have not required me to show my ID in Japan whenever I fill in my Japanese address. Here is a website with an article written by a lawyer : https://www.fukuoka-now.com/en/can-hotels-take-a-photocopy-of-my-id/

Very spacious, would love to come here again! Lovely views of the mountain as well

Not their fault, but the train frequency is quite low, every 30 - 60 mins

    9AngPosted on: 12-19-2022

The overall stay is excellent, reception staff was excellent , they let us to have a get together dinner with our family members on the lounge , a good reading corner, a spacious room and best of all a good spa at the Sister Hotel Kinugawa P[aza

Room heater not hot feel cold during winter time

    6WenhuiPosted on: 12-14-2022

quite economic, and it is equipped with hot spring

the tobacco smell in the room is really unpleasant

    9JoannaPosted on: 12-1-2022

I can't believe the value of the price I paid. I ended up extending my trip. There is an outdoor and indoor onsen. The outdoor one was so incredible since it faces the trees. I really enjoyed the onsen. There is also a manga library, vending machines inside the hotel, and a lounge area. On top of that, the room is ginormous and my room was facing the beautiful autumn trees. The one futon was uncomfortable so I stacked 2-3 futons and it was finally comfortable. Staff was very friendly as well. It is about 10-15 minute walk to the train station. There is a seven eleven within 7-8 minutes. I didn't realize how close the hotel was to the suspension bridge. I will definitely be back.

Outdoor onsen could be cleaned up more often since it is outdoors so there are more bugs and leaves in it. I wish they would have let me checked in early for my "next reservation" (I extended my stay). Instead, I checked out at 10am and had to wait until 3pm to re-check back into a new room...Futons could be more comfortable, I had to use 3 futons to sleep better.

I can’t tell because I didn’t have breakfast at this facility.

The room was big enough for us to stay comfortably. The front staff was kind to tell us that there was a festival near this hotel. Thanks to their kindness, we had a good time at that night.

    8浩史Posted on: 5-12-2022

    The onsen was nice

You have to pay extra for the board games. The room doesn't have a bidet. The staff didn't explain that you can use other onsen facilities for free. They drive you out.
