    • Valuable chain resort hotel with old interior, normal food (but good cup cake) and strange service.Room: spacious at this price at this location, but it looks old and lack of maintenance. Private bathroom is that kind of modular hotel bathroom that it’s very small while the bedroom space is huge. No towel prepared.Private bathroom: small plastic-based old modular attached bathroom. I don’t like it as I can’t ? in a comfortable way. It’s clean though, looks aged.Onsen: boring with strange service. The onsen area is not huge considering the size of hotel and amount of guests. Shower uses button-activated tap which cuts water in a very short time (much shorter than other places) before I can actually wash something, so I have to continually tap it again and again, The open-air onsen (2 pools) is specifically boring as there is no view or special onsen water.Service: 10 minutes before onsen closes there are staffs wandering around the changing area telling you it’s going to close, which is uncomfortable. Hotel should train staffs in a better way. No onsen has staff ready to kick guests off before the onsen closes Ok?View: I saw no view. Super close to the mountain road though.Food: very normal taste hotel breakfast, but also cheap. Bakery is not bad, I love the salty caramel cup cake!
    • Breakfast was great! Best we’ve had out of the four hotels we stayed at that served breakfast on this trip. Dinner was great too!
    • The breakfast is excellent. There are variety of foods and they are excellent.

    Cons -

    • Old room, small private bathroom. Staff in onsen watched and pushed everyone to leave onsen before the close time
    • Location had a stop on a bus line, but everything was a pretty far walk.
    • The room is not clean as expected in the Japanese standard. They don’t make the futon bed for the guests. You need to make it by yourself. This is not the standard for Japanese style hotel/ryokan.

Hotel provides a nice breakfast with large variety of food. This is the largest breakfast I have seen. Food is exceptionally good. Pancake maker is a nice experience. Onsen also nice

Little far from the city. And toilets are not so clean. I wish there is another pan cake maker because waiting time is long.

It was our first night in Japan for this trip, we were impressed as the hotel is very family oriented : buffet dinner and breakfast, game room, onsen, swimming-pool, common area with free drinks before dinner... We loved the Japanese style room and wearing the yukatas around the hotel.

Some of the facilities feel a bit aging, like the swimming pool or the stairs.

Best ryokan I've had the fortune of staying in. The perfect mix of modern and traditional. Gorgeous onsens both inside and out. Comfy beds and futons. Kind, attentive, and very informative staff. Great facilities. So many ways to enjoy a night in. The night cap was such a lovely touch. The breakfast... WOW. I've never seen such a large, variable, and delicious selection. My only regret is not staying longer.

The resort is very pretty and well maintained.

The onsen/washroom was not tattoo friendly and restaurants were not easy to get to. Overall happy.

    9MagnoPosted on: 2-17-2025

The room was clean and the layout was spacious. Plenty of room for a family of 4.

It would have been nice to experience the onsen. I have too many tattoos to cover, so I was not allowed to enter. Maybe if there were times throughout the day that tattoos were allowed, this would be the perfect hotel.

    7MardanPosted on: 2-16-2025

The staff were great!Loved the free night cap from 9 to 11pm. Free snacks & and a variety of alcoholic drinks. Additionally, the hotel had a lot of recreational areas.

The beds, futons, and pillows were uncomfortable. This specific hotel is a bit dated and should prioritizing in renovating rooms. Pricy!

Great breakfast, nice hotel, big onsen (indoor and outdoor). Staff were friendly and helpful.

    10MitchellPosted on: 1-3-2025

social lounge service was great idea! we enjoyed to use the service. onsen was very clean and nice.

unfortunately it was very windy night so all night long we can hear strong wind. and a small earthquake happen. we know it's not hotel's fault at all but a bit scary.

The room is quite spacious and the staff is helpful The hotel is easy to find and has good parking

The property is catered to family with children so as a couple was not the best choice. The most disappointing part was that the property did not specified that the Onsen is not available to people with tattoos so we miss on that part of the experience. For those going if your plan is to head to mount Zao the property is a bit far and not very convenient. The rooms are big, but the central heating is hard to regulate so the room was way too hot and we had a hard time sleeping.Expect long cues if you check in at 3 pm like we didFor non Japanese guest I will not recommend it.

    9MehmetuysalPosted on: 12-28-2024

I have been to many hotels in Japan, but this was a first time (almost) all inclusive plan. Interestingly, we were not aware of it when we booked. Great value for the money.Buffet breakfast and dinner was fantastic. Having unlimited alcoholic drinks was a great surprise.During the afternoon / late night lounge times additional snacks snacks / drinks provided.

Hotel is a bit old, you can feel it in many aspects. however it is not annoying, it is kept quite clean. There can be more activities for kids, and existing game areas need some renovation/update maybe.

The staff was really kind, the rooms were spacious, the onsen incredibly nice! And the breakfast was delicious

The furnitures were a little bit old.

    7AdventuresPosted on: 9-18-2024

The buffet had a very wide selection of food and it certainly exceeded my expectations. There was also free drinks at the longue for guests and it's the first time I've come across a hotel that does that! The onsen was also very spacious and there are 4 baths in total (2 indoors and 2 outdoors) and a sauna too!

Although the hotel room was spacious, I thought it looked quite outdated for Mercure. We had 4 people in the room and the extra beds weren't very comfortable. The walls are also quite thin so you can sort of hear the people from next door (it wasn't loud; more like muffled sounds). Aside from that, it appears that there was a collection of dust on the lockers in the onsen, so I guess it wasn't cleaned properly.

Great public facilities: the onsen, the rest area with free snacks, and the variety of food on offered at breakfast.

Despite the nice public areas, the rooms itself left a lot to be desired. First of all, one person in my group had a terrible night as the carpet in the room were not cleaned property, and she had discomfort breathing all night. I also felt that the rooms were not so clean, particularly the carpet, and the curtains was very inadequate in blocking the light coming through. I was woken up at 04:40am as the light coming through the window was really bright (please see my attached photo). Secondly, I felt that the variety of the food on offered was generous, but the quality was not so. Lastly, the staffs I met couldn't communicate adequately in English.

    8OcteopusPosted on: 7-8-2024

Spacious room and very simple guide to the resort after checking in. The breakfast buffet also has a very wide variety of food that I feel is quite worth it for the price. They do also have a free evening lounge service where they provide a selection of liquor as well as salty snacks to go with them like crackers and the locally produced Zao cheese. For amusement you can even use the ping pong tables on the first floor, or play on the arcade machines next door.

At this point it's just nitpicking but being located 20 minutes on foot away from Togatta Onsen makes it difficult to eat anything else or even access a convenience store. There are, of course, shops across the road near the Resort to eat at. Dinner buffet is 8000yen per person, which makes it a hard sell for when you have a budget and this Resort is only one of the many stops you're going to be making.

What a beautiful hotel! As travellers from Australia, the staff were so accommodating with the language barrier, and were so warm and welcoming. The buffet was absolutely incredible, facilities perfect, games room for our 6 year old, even a shop! The candy station was also a big hit! Definitely would reccomend!

    - onsen was very good, had outdoors and indoors facilities- gave many free facial products- clean

    - location was isolated from town- very little food options: only one buffet area + a souvenir shop

    Pleasant

The unclear information and communication around the free shuttle service running from and back to sendai station led myself and 3 of my friends to each have to pay an additional $35 NZD for the same transport that was near empty anyway
