Toyoko Inn Iwaki Ekimae

The list below is common (as far as I know) for all Toyoko Inn hotel, whichever branch you go to.- Free breakfast buffet (all you can eat and drink) for you and one child (up to 12 years old) staying together in the same room.- No extra fee for having your child staying in the same room with you.- Nice complimentary story book for your child (in Japanese).- The room is so clean, the bathroom too. The lobby and the whole facility are clean.- Microwave for everyone to use at the 1st floor, so you can buy food from convenient store and heat it up, then eat at lobby (eating space provided) or at your room.- Free drinking water service.- Freely take the amenities you need at the lobby.- Parking facility for hotel guest with reasonable price.- Bathroom and toilet in each room, not shared (cheap hotel in Japan tend to have share bathroom and toilet).- Humidifier provided in your room during Winter.- Fabric freshener provided for you to spray on your jacket or any wardrobe you need to use for the next day.- Great cost performance and reasonably cheap price compare to other business hotel.What stands out from this particular branch in Iwaki are the friendly staffs, cleanliness, more beautiful room with colorful wallpapers.We always look for Toyoko Inn when we need a place just to sleep, and not to enjoy a resort stay or enjoying the hotel experience. Just take a nice bath and sleep after a long day of activities, and go out for another adventure the next day after breakfast. We checked in at around 21:00 and checked out at around 08:40.Please note that Toyoko Inn, including this one, is a business hotel, designed for people travelling alone for business, not for family holiday stay. So, the room is not spacious, but it is nicely design. The bed in our rooms, and we picked the bigger sized bed, is big enough for 2 people, especially an adult and a child (up to 12 years old may stay together in the same room).

- Limited eating space for breakfastThey don't have a restaurant, it is just a spot where they serve the breakfast buffet. And there are limited numbers of table and seat. In our experience staying at Toyoko Inn (any branch), come earlier for breakfast, as it is easier to get seated. Even if you still have pillow face on you, and maybe still wearing your pajama pants. As long as you look clean and decent, no one will say anything. When it is later than 08:30, there will be a long line of people waiting for their turn to get the seats. Especially during peak holiday season. The silver lining is that they provided bento box for you to take the food and eat it at your room, instead of waiting for seats. - Very limited option on Western style breakfastMy family love the free breakfast buffet, but we do wish they provide more Western style breakfast like eggs, cereals, pastries, etc. This branch only serve butter rolls (with butter, 2 types of jam). Yoghurt is also provided, but that's dessert. The Japanese style breakfast do offer a variety of side dishes, on the contrary. Would be a much better buffet if they serve more option for Western breakfast, but we are not disappointed either. - Bad coffeeThe coffee they serve at breakfast, definitely not our cup of coffee. Convenient stores serve better coffee than what they offer. I've been to 3 different Toyoko Inn across Japan, and the coffee definitely need improving. - Only 1 small elevatorI guess it is not a problem when it is not peak season. We used the stairs to go down for breakfast and check out since the elevator was always full by the time it reached our floor (3rd floor). Well, it was a good morning exercise, and thankfully only 3 floors. The hotel could do better, but it was not a bad experience either. Would we go back and stay there? Yes, we will. Really high cost performance among their peers.

It’s really clean and comfortable and right in the heart of the city. Short walk to everything- including the station, shops and restaurants.

It’s a business hotel so character is sacrificed for efficiency. I was on a road trip so had to leave just before breakfast was served. All the guests were queuing for breakfast just before - which you should be ready for if you plan to use the hotel. There’s parking - but for a fee. Not sure about a car, but even for my motorcycle, they asked. ¥200 to park it near the reception door.

I had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The location was convenient for exploring nearby attractions. While the dining options could be improved and the Wi-Fi was occasionally slow, overall, my experience was quite satisfactory. I'd happily return in the future.

I only have a communication problem as a barrier.

Breakfast was decent, bit of variety and also option for take away. Staff were very helpful and tried to cater to our needs as best as they could.

The bed was super hard, woke up a few times throughout the night because of how painful it was on my back. Pillow was hard too. Parking was a killer trying to getting in, but great coming out.

The location was very convenient, and free breakfast was included. Room was very clean. Staff were quite helpful.

The bed was very hard, and the pillow originally in the room very thin, making sleep very uncomfortable, though the pillow I received at the front desk was better. Not much in the way of sound proofing, so I was woken up fairly early to the sound of banging and thuds, and could also hear the busy street 7 floors below pretty clearly.

You get what you pay for. The balance is good. The lobby / breakfast area is light and the staff at any time is friendly
