Beach and the hotels are quite nice... Staff was friendly

The transport from the jetty to the hotel... Ripping off.. They charge per head, adult Rm 60, child Rm 40. We had 8 + 9 kids. Only 2 cabs provided. ( 9km) Food was good but so so expensive. Even though it's a nice place to relax... Extra costing is high ??.. As it was a spontaneous trip, couldn't plan well. A Plan well and must go place.

Room was spacious, modern and clean. Amazing location right on the beach. Pool was great to use as well. Staff were really friendly. The reception staff upgraded us on arrival, Sharif and the maintenance team helped out with any questions we had and the boat trip crew that took us snorkelling were great.

The on site restaurant was not the best for food and was higher prices than others in the area

Great location towards end of beach/town, close to turtle sanctuary and right in front of nice beach.Inside room well furnished and clean. From outside doesn't look great.Very quiet village/kampung, local life going on all around, a lot of nice local places to eat and try out local cuisine.Well equipped recreation facilities on the beach with lots to do.Scooter rental place at resort entrance worthwhile (great way to get around and to explore the road that crosses the island linking Juara to Tekek).

Unfriendly, unhappy, low energy reception staff greeting guests on arrival - doesn't make guests feel welcome, no smile, just a very unfriendly check in and check out process. Very disappointing experience.Made me wish I'd chosen the resort next door instead!Messy reception area with files and papers and staff snacks/food/drinks everywhere.Overall property poorly maintained.Swimming pool heavily over-chlorinated and run down.

Nothing. Terrible place. Pictures are deceiving. This is a backpackers lodge.

The resort isn’t a resort. All the pictures you see online must be from the time the property was built. Chairs broken, dirt all around. Our toilet was not flushing. Swimming pool wasn’t clean.

The food at the hotel restaurant was great and having lived in Malaysia we were taken back to some of our favourite dishes. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming throughout our stay.

Big rooms.

1. Overpriced food - Coconut Grove which is just next door offers much better value and food quality.2. We paid for one of their most expensive accommodations (ie the bungalow) and there is no room service, does not come with breakfast, no ability to call reception from the room, you have to go down every day to ask them to make up the room.3. The rooms were not as clean as you would expect. Eg the bathroom mirrors were spotted with toothpaste marks.

Location was perfect. Right on the beach. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Level of cleanliness was poor. Our bathroom was dirty. The taps, mirror and wall tiles had not been cleaned in a very long time. I asked house keeping to do this when he brought us fresh towels but it was not done. Also glass on balcony was very dirty and marked. This gave a very bad first impression. The resort appeared to be well staffed. I think a dirty hotel is totally unacceptable and a basic requirement.

After extensive research on all accommodation on Juara Beach The Barat came out on top. Were we expecting luxury? No. Were we expecting good pre communication and did we get it? Yes. and no, they missed us off the list for a 4 by 4 pick up from Tekek jetty. The size of the room was good. Air con worked well. Lounges with cushions at the beach but not the beach loungers. Rain shower. Always plenty of hot water. An efficient arse blaster! Great pool about 20 metres. Plenty of cold and hot water stations to refill your bottle. Hair-dryer. Kettle and fridge in room. No sand flies on Juara and not outside The Barat Resort. Despite the negatives listed above we were glad we chose it after reading other horror stories!

Curtains not thick enough. Beds rock hard. Lumpy pillows. Insects came in up the drain as in cockroaches. You do need to bring your own mozzie plug ins. 10 per cent service charge on all food even if you reach for the ice cream yourself from the freezer and walk over to reception to pay for it! Food most expensive on the beach. But, not outrageous for Western prices. TOWELS too much softener used, so did not absorb. Beach towels 100 per cent microfibre...ewwww. Nothing is gourmet on a Malaysian island remember. It's not a Western standard 4 star. Cleaning needs improvement. I left room 231 cleaner than I found it! Not joking. Scrubbed the sinks, cleaned the taps of water stains, wiped toothpaste marks off the walls, cleaned mirror stains and removed dust from behind the headboard area.

~ Hotel only provide first day drinking water. Drinking water for consecutive days to be taken from water dispenser, but CS did not tell us during check in. ～ Hotel did not control crowd nor noise level in night. There was a group of people making noise until 4am! ～ Advise : Do not buy those meal vouchers. Too many restrictions in order to spend it.～ Foods are pricy～ Shower water is yellowish

1. To get there, you’ll have to arrive at Tekek Jetty. Order 4x4 provided by hotel. It’s 30 mins ride - RM30/pax one way. Let hotel know your boarding jetty time from Mersing / Tanjung Gemuk and driver will wait for you upon arrival.2. The room is decent, clean and spacious. We booked the standard family chalet. AC is strong to cool whole room especially 1-4pm when it’s roasting hot outside. They provided so many towels and floor cloth too. Toiletries provided are shampoo and shower gel. Bring the rest yourself. Sunrise is 1-2 min walk from our room. Plenty of beach chairs, hammock, swing, bar w music at night. 3. Snorkelling trip is AWESOME. We did trip C which was the only one available. Request for Boboy and Razul if you can. They’re the best crew ever! Took care each and everyone of our safety so well while at the ocean - from young kids, beginner snorkeler to seasoned swimmer. They swam under water and pointed us turtle and nemo. They prepared plain bread to attract fishes. It’s the most beautiful thing ever. Snorkel around the rock in Batu Malang. Corals and fishes are beautiful. It’s quite a swim if there is wave. Recommend for seasoned swimmer only if there is wave.

AVOID THE SPA AT ALL COST!!!! We paid RM189 / pax for hot oil body massage. After paying, masseuse apologised and said there is only couple room left. They knew we are friends because they tried hard to convinced our 3rd friend for the massage but to no avail. Throughout the massage, both male and female masseuse was chatting with each other and picking up phone calls. To my HORROR, the curtain separating the room was OPEN. When requested few times to close the curtain, the female masseuse insisted it’s going to be hot as the AC comes from the other side. Male masseuse walked to my side to get oil too when I’m facing upward. I felt so violated throughout the whole massage!!!! Female masseuse massage was TERRIBLE. No strength at all!! She accidentally pulled my hair few times and didn’t notice until I mentioned it’s painful. Her nails scratched my hand and it’s blue black - see pic. When it’s ending, both of them stood at the other end of the room and continued chatting while I’m getting dressed.

It was a fantastic experience. The kids love the snorkelling and mostly the waterfall.The staff were very kind and supportive. I really recommande this resort.
