Matsue New Urban Hotel

Its location and the friendly staff.

The hot springs area is small and run down. Also, having to move between wings in the winter was uncomfortable.

We loved the view of the water from our room! The staff was extremely kind and attentive; for example, we came in from a walk and had gotten wet, so the staff handed us all hand towels to dry off with. They also held our bags for a few hours before and after our check in/out times so we could visit a few more sites/museums during our time in Matsue. Ms. Funaki made sure we felt very welcome by asking us where we were from and introducing us to some of the traditions of the area, such as shijimi clams!

The breakfast was incredible! The staff members were friendly and helpful and they spoke English. The room was a little small, but it was fine for one person. It felt cozy.

The bath area was dark and seemed a little creepy.

The room facing Lake Shinji was really good. It was also possible to eat or drink coffee while facing Lake Shinji. The bed was also comfortable and the staff were all very nice.

Everything was clean and in good condition. Breakfast were tasty and nice rooftop view made great start for every day of the stay.

Room was bit small for two people with big luggage. But managable…

Good location, comfortable beds. Amenity area where you can pick out whatever you need for free. BUT THE $14 BREAKFAST IS NOT A “GOOD” BREAKFAST; IT IS AN AMAZING BREAKFAST. WITH AN ARRAY OF LOCAL AND WESTERN FOOD. IT WAS A HIGHLIGHT OF EACH DAY WE WERE THERE!

With our economy room we really needed to live out of our suitcases. Next time we would spend a few more dollars on the deluxe room. But oh that breakfast!

far from JR station, but closed to historical attraction.

Very good location/ close to main city area as well as Lake Shinji. Comfortable and clean room.Room’s bathroom was more spacious than I expected

Electronic check-in with a machine rather than with staff/ real human - it was a bit complex & impersonal.

It was the first time I’ve ever stayed at a hotel like this before. Our room was quite small however it was so well organized, and aesthetically pleasing that it was quite a pleasure. The view was amazing. We could see Lake Shinji, which was beautiful. The best thing about staying at this hotel, however was the staff. I have never felt to personal connection with staff before at a hotel. However, the Matsue new Urban hotel is different. The lovely staff were as much a part of the wonderful experience we had staying here as the hotel itself.

A little far from station. The double room was tiny (business hotel single size).

Breakfast was great. It was easy to walk to the hotel from the train station. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Location was very good. Onsen in house was very good. Staff very nice and polite.

Parking was tight. Staff needs to jump out of back of counter snd help clients with there luggage especially with elderly folks.

We liked just about everything about the Matsue New Urban Hotel — great staff, large room with a view, washer/dryer in the room, comfortable beds, roomy lounge area, fantastic rooftop deck, variety of food choices at breakfast, walking distance to sights.

Can’t think of anything we did not like.

- located right at the lake- about 15 min walking to the castle and park- very friendly and engaging staff- their level of English was great, very helpful- paid parking available at the property- room felt renovated, especially the bathroom- lots of amenities in the room and at reception- conbini at ground floor

- confusing two buildings and the smaller one is the main one and the larger one with the reception is the annex somehow- the bed had a weird position, partially with your head under the window, bad feng shut- elevators could use a glow-up or a good clean

EVERYTHING! Extremely beautiful views! People at the front, in the parking, restaurants - all very friendly !!!

We had a triple room and it was very spacious with a sitting area ,the wet room looked out on the river, it was really comfortable. The only slight complaint we had was that the breakfast finished at 9.15 and the restaurant at 9, would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again

Good location near the lake and about a 15 minute walk to the castle and Hearn house.A large room by Japanese standards with 2 chairs. The breakfast was Japanese. Don't expect bacon and egg.

Very noisy toilet and cistern refill. Otherwise all good.
