We have two rooms, and one room smelled like cigarette smoke.

The staff was so friendly and willing to help create great stay. The breakfast buffet was awesome and the staff was very attentive and gave personalized attention. We felt very welcomed. The room was spacious and comfortable.

Beautiful old building- very secluded and away from crazy streets

They never responded to multiple requests for early check-in so we had to wait 7 hours to get our room. At 3am they started unloading the lifts and making lots of noise in the hallway. We were away by 530am so all in all not great. We also had an outdoor window that couldnt be closed allowing street noise and fumes in.

It is an excellent property evocative of a Madras from an earlier era. The service was excellent- a few names stand out, Dileep and Monica at the reception, Caleb the porter, Shankar from the restaurant and quite a few more names. They made us feel welcome and went out of their way to meet the requirements of a family with young children.

The mosquitoes at the pool- there must be a solution I am sure ?

The pool area is very nice and the Raintree restaurant is beautiful

The staff was nice and kind, but the organisation was not the best. We asked for help to book a restaurant, and they never got back to us. When we already had booked (and prepaid) their New Year gala dinner they kept calling our room to ask if we wanted to book …

Breakfast was getting bit monotonous, when the breakfast centre gets busy the staff did'nt know how to accomodate the guests and were running like headless chicken!!

The upgrade to colonial suite was excellent, the rooms were very spacious and luxurious. the staff were very good and attentive to guests needs. Over all very good.

The variety of food were less compared to other five star hotels, the fish fry on 19th night in the veranda resturant had excessive salt, but other food was delicious.

Gorgeous property in Chennai! Very friendly, helpful and accommodating staff. The pool is heavenly. All the details in the room were perfect and so comfortable. Its location is close to many places of interest and it’s easy to get around the city from the property.

Portraits of British Guys in the elevator and other areas. These should be torn down and replaced with great Indian kings like Vikramadhitya and our mathematicians like Aryabhata and Brahmagupta.

South Indian menu at breakfast was great. Room on the second floor overlooking the pool was comfortable, spacious and clean. Check-in/ out process was smooth despite late night arrival.

Bathroom can definitely use some good renovation. The elevator also needs to be replaced as some buttons did not work and the doors were squeaky. Continental menu can be improved during breakfast.

The pool is open till late and the live grill next to it made it special

I recently stayed at the Taj Connemara for three nights and was thoroughly impressed. This charming Indian 5-star hotel, complete with an inviting outdoor pool, beautifully blends colonial heritage with modern comfort.The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful — from the front desk to the restaurant, everyone made me feel genuinely welcome and well taken care of.A surprising highlight was the laundry service: my freshly cleaned trousers were returned folded and wrapped like a gift from Harrods. It’s the kind of thoughtful detail that reflects the care and elegance that defines the entire hotel experience.Highly recommended for anyone seeking a refined yet personal stay in Chennai.

We love the dinner and breakfast buffet. Worth spending some relaxing time at the property.

The fan in the room and corners were so much dust, when my child turned on the fan, it was all over the room. We didn't bother as we were planning to leave in the morning and were too tired and lazy to call for cleaning. I mean, honestly, we were not expecting this from the property at TAJ.

Of all our Taj experiences, this has possibly been the best one (over Taj Mahal Mumbai and Taj Falaknama). The heritage aspects, the hospitality, the location, the beauty of the premises, the food - 15/10 for each one.

The pool area is very beautiful and relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of the streets. The food at the breakfast buffet was superb. Out bed was clean and comfortable too.

There is a lot of wear and tear throughout the property. Everything feels very dated like it's not changed since the 80's or 90's. The towels (pool and room) were quite old and thin, the pool bed cushions were a bit old and dirty, the bathroom smelt a bit and the drain didn't drain well. The air conditioning panel did not work properlty and the whole unit was noisy and you could tell the airconditioning ducts and pipes were old and dusty. Basically it is not maintained to the standard one would expect for this kind of hotel.However, it wasn't so bad we hated it! We still enjoyed it a lot but just had to manage our expectations. The staff were lovely.

The surrounding area didn’t suite me as I was not able to find proper shops except for few malls which was not that standard . I wanted a sim but could not find it anywhere and the staff was not helpful in finding one too

The welcome, the lobby, the music in the evenings and at breakfast, the finesse of the buffet starters and desserts, the pool, the very friendly staff.
