Castaway Resort Koh Lipe

The dive instructor, Tos, was so welcoming. Absolute legend! The property itself is beautiful and in an ideal location.

Restaurant/yoga are bit expensive. It can also get hot with no A/C, but we expected that since they focus on sustainability, which is actually nice since so many islands are getting destroyed by resorts :(

The beachfront location and proximity of the excellent restaurant are bonuses. The vibe is lovely and laid back.

The rustic appeal is a little harder to enjoy as the island continues to develop; properties further back can get very stuffy as there's no air-con and if you get a rainy week it can feel hard being cooped up inside.

Gorgeous facilities, friendly staff, lovely dive crew… honestly, perfection!

It’s the most dreamy resort of the island in my opinion, aesthetically speaking. Very rustic and secluded as you would expect it to be in really small island in paradise. Great staff, amazing stay.

I would’ve liked a bigger Thai menu instead of international one.

Cabins were well designed, clean and with lots of storage. Room cleaning, drinking water and fresh towels each day was great. Restaurant/Bar and chill out areas in front of the beach were great. The staff were amazing - always smiling and nothing was ever too much trouble.

Stated here many years ago - not as good as it was. Beach pretty much eroded away in front of resort. Staff not as friendly as they were.

No a/c - 1000 degrees in hut. Fans useless.

Sensational location with super attentive staff, as near to paradise as one can imagine.

My wife had quite a difficult time with mosquitoes.

The location is excellent and the food was very good ? the cocktails also were very good.

The mosquito net didn't keep the mosquitos out and the blinds didn't work properly.

The sounds at night and early morning (mostly birds) but it is part of experience! Breakfast could be better, the toiler is exposed in the 1st floor of bugalow but it was funny actually

LOVED castaway's cozy bungalow vibe. The staff was amazing, the restaurant was the best food I had on the island, and the massages were chef's kiss!

The bed was not comfortable, and even for a backpacker, the lack of AC was difficult to sleep in.

This was our second stay at Castaway -- we came previously around six years ago -- and we were very happy to be back in Koh Lipe! The resort is lovely, the staff are friendly and it's in a good location. The rooms are pretty basic, but you don't need much when you're exploring the gorgeous island all day! The resort was very helpful in helping us organize our travel to / from Koh Lipe which I really appreciated. Through them, we also booked additional activities such as massages & snorkeling. This, too, was very easy and organized. One of my favorite things at the resort was the yoga they offered each morning. The teacher was really kind, skilled & I liked how early it was (7am) which allowed me to start my day on a positive note. When we travel, we always opt to stay at Eco Resorts and were happy to see Castaway doesn't use plastic straws and offers a water refill station to use (albeit the water is quite warm!).

The biggest issue I had with Castaway was the fact that they use RAID when cleaning the rooms. When advertising as a Eco Resort, I was shocked that they used a product with so many chemicals ... not to mention the housekeeper sprayed it carelessly into the room where we had our toothbrushes & drinking glasses. To their credit, we promptly asked the front desk not to use RAID in our room anymore and they complied. It didn't feel that good knowing this was being used in the neighboring bungalows and likely everywhere else on the resort, though. When we specifically book an Eco Resort, we hope it's as organic as possible...not a front or an advertising gimmick.

The resort was great, staff super kind, great food (but also go outside and check the local restaurants!), the whole vibe was cool and very laid back :) We appreciated the mosquito nets over the beds! Yes, the water is not hot, but in that weather you absolutely cannot tell and you do not miss it! And no AC, but again - the fans do the job!

When entering the resort, it seems like you are entering a garbage dump. Why on earth?! Another detail - just make sure that the people you are sharing the hut with are close to you, cause there is no intimacy in the bathroom :)

The location is pretty unbeatable and the restaurant is as wonderful as it's always been (we've been coming here for 10 years+). The whole setup with the cabins in the sand is incredibly relaxing, along with hammocks and drinking water provided in the rooms.

It might just have been particularly hot this time around, or possibly because there are more cabins than when we first started visiting (great that Castaway has been able to expand) but the rooms did become uncomfortably hot overnight. I am fully supportive of the no-a/c approach but if you are someone who struggles with the heat, just be aware this may not be the right place for you.

The location is superb! The terrace at the beachfront is the icing on the cake! The staff are extremely friendly from the minute we arrive until we leave. The Scuba Diving director with his professionalism carefully reviewed each client's health condition before starting the course.Our scuba Diving Coach: Japanese~ Me and Thai~ Joe were both so helpful and professional! We appreciated their company it ticked my bucket list to see the underwater world. Our professional masseuses both provided great massage and pampered us carefully at the beachfront open-air spa.Highly recommended!

The hammock on the balcony and the bed should run into a deep clean. We diagnosed a skin infection after our first night stay and thankfully it felt better after visiting the doctor.

Great staff. Great value for money. Superb location , excellent dive centre and a great way to relax. We can’t wait to return!

We really enjoyed our stay at Castaway. The staff was very sweet and accommodating. Our room was clean and made up every day. It was warm during the night but of course we knew that and it was manageable. We deeply appreciate the efforts of the resort to minimise their impact on the environment. The only drawback was the location but mostly in front of the resort. To get there, you had to walk over an elevated concrete path which ran over something best described as a stinky wastewater bog. It made me gag multiple times every time. Not the fault of Castaway but maybe they could support efforts to clean up this area.

Amazing location right on the beach, the staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was exceptional- highly recommend the thai breakfast porridge. The bungalow we stayed in was perfect for our needs, peaceful, a really safe and beautiful vibe- it feels very remote, which is what we wanted. The lack of A/C really wasn't. problem because the fan was strong and it cooled off nicely at night. Next time in Koh Lipe, we will definitelt stay here again!
