Pros +
- Everything other than the breakfast. There were only a few guests to the staff presented a super-simple set of options. A more substantial breakfast would be welcomed. It's good for BUSINESS!
- The view from my room
- The bed was comfortable. That’s the only good thing about the property
Cons -
- See above...
- Upon our arrival there was no greeting by the staff. In fact the individual sitting behind the reception desk was too consumed with their cell phone that they had not even noticed that there were two guest wanting to check in at the Desk. This would be a common occurrence, as all of their employees are more focused on their phones than the customers that they are there to take care of.I requested an additional key as here in Vietnam. One of your room keys is used to turn on the power for the air conditioning. But since it's so hot, I requested an extra key so that we could leave the power on that way the room would be cool upon a return. The front desk said that they could not issue a third key that we have two and that's all we would get. Seems kind of odd since we're talking about a piece of plastic in the shape of a credit card that they just magnetized to my room lock. But that was not the first issue. This reservation included a prepaid breakfast at their buffet. Upon arriving at the buffet the first morning in the hotel, we found little to no food on the buffet almost as if it had been cleared out and they weren't replenishing. Keep in mind breakfast is from 6:30 AM Until 9 AM. I arrived with my fiancé for breakfast at the restaurant at 8 AM and there was little to no food remaining nor were they making additional food to replenish so that any guest that may come down in the last hour would have something to eat. Then there's the linens. In the rooms there were two towels and bathmat. But no wash cloths nor would they send any up because they don't have. The last thing which was the straw that broke camels back, was that I had selected our Seaview room, which gave me access to the infinity pool that looks out of ver the sea. Upon arrival we found that the pool is been closed for several weeks and they had no projected date in which it would be made available, nor had the hotel disclosed this was not available at check in.
- Was not happy about the fact that I had to handover my passport for the duration of my stay. I’ve travelled around in Vietnam and this is the only hotel that had this ludicrous policy. Another bizarre policy is that housekeeping services aren’t available after 5pm a 4 Star hotel, insane. The breakfast served was atrocious to say the least. The was even a worm in the dragon fruit. ROTTEN FOOD IS GIVEN TO PIGS! Not humans

Good position, clean room
No staff helps to bring luggage. I have 3 big bags and 1 children under 2 years old, but no one help to bring luggage to room.Children entertainment room at 2nd floor is dirty, no maintain regularly, only some toys. No conditioner. So poor.
nice view
Staff! from the moment at check in when we refused to allow them to keep our passports, the staff were not helpful. We have travelled Vietnam for over three weeks and not once where we requested to leave our passports. All accommodation took photos and returned to us. No safe in the room despite assurances there was. Breakfast sub standard, cereal stale. On leaving they informed us the ferry service did not run, despite us checking the previous day that it did operate. Refused to help. Just poor service for a tourism destination. We are now about to board our operating ferry.
Buffet breakfast is OK for week-ends, but on week days, they do not serve buffet, just à la carte with only 2 choices of food. They did not mention that on their website. False advertising! They said because there was not enough customers. Really bad!
Better breakfast
Cleaning Staff ....location...rooms .... VIEW
The front desk, pool and meal service staff were inattentive (too busy with their mobile phones and just didn't care about the guests they had no idea). For instance the pool attendant is never seen and is almost always asleep in his little booth and when he wasn't asleep he was smoking his head off in front of the pool rules which clearly asked all guests not to smoke, You would have thought that included the staff. But worst of all he was not aware anyone was at the pool nor did he engage with my Vietnamese wife and I in the 7 days we stayed there. Someone could have drowned or had a stroke and he would have been none the wiser. Other than that the hotel was clean the rooms were attended by excellent staff I kept in great condition and the location and views are outstanding. Nice place but rotten staff. In more than 40 years of travel and staying in hotels in the Vietnam and throughout Asia I have not come across any worse.Slack slack sack.
The delayed response by the staff. The AC in one of the bedrooms was faulty and we requested to be moved to another apartment. It took them one hour until 22:30 to send us to a new one.
Staff were friendly. Room service and security were great.
The breakfast was very ordinary. The restaurant was 2 star at best. The king size bed was actually two single beds combined.
nice hotel but a bit away from centre, however there are detail improvements to attract guests
1) strong smell in corridor, have to ask reception to rid off2) breakfast is sub standard, no buffet....very old and ineffective way to check in for breakfast required guests collecting vouchers at reception instead :(3) inadequate/No power point for kettle, have to use power point located at luggage bench
good location
Not good if you like a clean and high-quality services. Staff does not care about you and your family
Staff were hands on and proactive. The toilet in my room was dirty when I checked in but that was fixed with in a blink of an eye.
There wasn’t anything extra ordinary about the hotel. I have stayed in cheaper hotels with better facilities. There were cockroaches all over the room. These really made me uncomfortable. The balcony was not so dirty but not clean either. I wonder if window glasses and balcony glasses are ever cleaned. They were too dusty.
The pool is nice!
The overall experience wasn’t great for me when I stayed here. The morning buffet is mediocre at best, food is gone almost immediately after filling. There aren’t many choices for food. My family members forgot to bring the breakfast ticket, and the guy at the buffet treated us really poorly. He almost yelled at us and acted like we begging for food. They let the employees eat when the guests are still at the buffet. There is not enough food for all of the people staying there. Housekeeping is rude! They demanded reasons when we asked for more towels. The room isn’t so great, the water in the bathroom is leaking out
Clean bright and modern hotel
The breakfast wasn't very good, I had some fried rice which was completely cold, but to be fair to the staff, they rushed around and got some hot rice which was quite tasty.
The white bread was good - baguette.
Breakfast was a plate with one or 2 egg, 2 bits of bacon 2 slices of Tomato, and a bit of cucumber - one plate was more than big enough for the food. As mentioned above, bread OK. Rest of food poor. Hotel was partly closed - only very few guest - seemed to function as a bankruptcy. Guess us 3 + maybe a few other, first night probably only us 3.Information that there were no cleaning of clothes, but did make for me - after trying 2 days. Not for colleges, one was Vietnamese and has Vietnamese as mother tongue, and speaks excellent English - so no misunderstandings. Staff was very poorly trained, and had no information on what was happening - or should happen. Did try to do their best, persons were polite - but unable to do anything.
Nice sea and mountain views from our one-bedroom apartment, which we splurged for. The breakfast was edible. Staff was friendly and breakfast crew worked hard to seat the crush of guests and keep the buffet clean.
But the $91 price was too high for the accommodation. The construction is cheap, and the hotel next door has a giant white sign blazing through the night with enough light to fill your room. Serious visual pollution. Nearly all of the Mermaid hotel windows are grimy, clouded with mist and dust. Regular window washing is needed. Only three little elevators, so long waits in the morning. In our room, the bed was stiff, the couch cheap and the shower drains were blocked in both bathrooms. The pool has no bar, the breakfast has lukewarm coffee and fake, powder orange juice and stale sugar cereal; no omelette, just fried eggs. And, we asked for a late checkout of 1 pm instead of noon and the receptionist said it would cost 130,000 Dong per hour! Then at 1 pm she tried to charge us 240,000 Dong! Won’t be back.
Didnt stay there long but it was clean. Felt a little empty.

The staff were wonderful and very helpful.
Passable
Breakfast was very very poor, if they dont keep anything for expects then better keep the bookings only for local visitors.
