Nisarga Homestay

Cannot write about the property as we did not stay there. Terrible communication from one Ms. Pooja Ghosh. She said the room we booked was not available and offered another in Charana homestay promising a private room with double bed and private bathroom. The amount was paid and on the day of the checkin, we found that Charana homestay was closed and no longer functional. We ended up staying in someone's house which was not the ideal relaxed environment we were looking for as it involved staying with a family of 6. Some honesty would have been appreciated from the person that communicated so we could have gone for well informed alternate options. Would not opt for this stay or believe the information I get from Pooja Ghosh.

Like the homemade food served, awesome taste.

I have booked a 3 beds room, but I was provided with 2 beds and the room was not spacious. The amount paid was for 3 beds, and no deduction in price for the inconveniences caused. The homestay is not the same as shown in the picture.

They should post shops photo also. It would be helpful for customers to have idea, Customers can get Bisleri water n dry fruits for trekking n eatable at the remote mountain area.

Staff denied the stay after reaching. Please remove this resort from your website. I had to sleep in the car

A big No to the place. We went there by looking at the high ratings but shocked to see that it's totally not of what the ratings are indicating. Location:It's a pathetic location. The location is very hard to reach and it's not what we saw in the pictures while booking. If anyone is planning with family then I strongly don't recommend. The place is located in a hill which can be well reached with a 4X4 category of vehicle because it's totally a off road path, in monsoons it'll be even more risky.Homestay: Lacks even basic amenities which any hotel normally provides such as the room has no wash basin, rooms are very small, no wardrobe, hangers to keep the things, bed has a very low quality mattress etc etc. Once we go there have to solely depend on the property owner for any food or any other smallest requirements. Only JIO signal works. With a family having small kids it's a big risk. It's possible that you may get stuck for all your needs like imagine if any there is any medical urgency. Apart from this do carry good number of cash changes. Remember that any paytm/Google pay/ any online payment will NOT work if you have a service provider other than JIO. In my case the property owner did not even returned me the balance amount of 100rs for the charges we paid for our food and meals despite of following up several times after checking out. So overall a very poor stay and I never recommend to anyone.

At least be honest to show the actual location where the stay will be provided and not the one we see in the pictures while booking.

The property is ideally suited for trekkers intent on climbing the Kudremukha Peak. The family hosting is wonderful, extremely courteous, cheerful and accommodating. On weekdays, when bookings are to a minimum, you literally have the entire house to yourself; it's peaceful, quiet and cosy. They serve some delicious Malnad food, albeit it's Jain cuisine, in keeping with the family's belief system. The house is just off the State Highway, with a semi private bus station opposite the road; convenient to access from Chikmagalur via Kalasa, as well as in the opposite direction towards Mangalore via Karkala.

The private washroom of our quadruple room did not have a basin/sink. I personally found that odd, but it isn't much of a deal breaker if your stay is limited and the purpose of the visit is to trek. My experience with Booking.com while paying for this stay was unsavoury; despite paying the entire amount for the stay in advance, the deficit payment at the time of departure seemed much more than expected (taking into consideration the meals as well as the trek permits).It makes sense to directly coordinate with the family rather than book them via Booking.com. My opinion, is that this could save you some money.We were looked after by Niswarth Jain and his mother; I suggest booking a stay with them directly.

Location is good. It's nearby the trekking starting point. They also arranged for the guide and everything. Place was clean.
