Very expensive for Ayurveda treatment. I understand that when people book via between booking.com and official site, the price is too much different. I payed AU$80 per night x3 days……. Very disappointed. Also, I was bitten on my legs 10 spots by ticks when I took Ayurveda treatment. I thought it was mosquitos…… Yoga class was not very good. The instructor was aggressive to push our bodies. We don’t have flexible body like the instructor.

Perfect stay at the Karanukarala Ayurveda resort, especially the Ayurveda treatment was wonderful.In the beginning, the crew told me it was fully booked, but in the end, they managed to schedule it for me.The room was big, and really clean and the beds were very comfortable.I enjoyed my stay there, especially to relax (recommend the yoga and meditation classes).

Visited at the end of a tour around Sri Lanka. We had a really nice cabin with a really comfortable bed and excellent bathroom. Since we both need to eat gluten free, the manager and chef took really good care of us, serving us safe and very tasty food. The area is really quiet at night and the pool is nice as well. Much nicer than staying in negombo in my opinion.

In the adjacent road there are a few dogs that are a bit too protective of their homes, getting to the main road to visit a supermarket or atm can be scary for people who are afraid of dogs.However, this is something that is out of the hotels influence and therefore I cannot count it as a negative trait of the hotel.

Just a lovely resort, just along the river and on very green grounds! The staff were super friendly and helpful and kindly gave us an upgrade and the chalets were simply gorgeous and had very fancy toilets. We rented brand new bicycles from the hotel and cycled out to the little fishing villages of the surrounding beaches and out to see the tile factories. The resort offers different treatments and yoga sessions.

Would have liked the option of Sri Lankan breakfast as we don't care much for the very processed western options of eggs and white bread. Think perhaps they have a wider selection of breakfast when the hotel is full, it was sadly still very quiet after Covid when we got there.

Everything about Karunakarala was exactly what I needed and wanted - the cottages, the doctor, the treatments, the therapists, the yoga, the grounds, the magic of starting the day before dawn with a build up of strange bird calls with a great yoga master and as the sun rose the Buddhist monks across the river chanted. But above all was the staff, each being so kind and pleasant and there for you and ready to go far out of their way to help with any problems and difficulties.

There were some mosquitos, which I had stuff to protect myself with, but because of my utter relaxation, didn’t bother to apply.

It's a picturesque calm place with a lot of birds and chipmunks. Breakfasts were quit big and tasty. House was cute, with stable Wi-Fi connection for watching movies (but for videocalls sometimes it can have low speed)

There are two types of breakfast (Sri-lanka's and American), so it can be a problem for some people who prefer larger variety of food

the staff of the KAR were excellent, very kind and sophisticated, as well eager to please guests, especially a young Ayurveda Doctor Sharmila who personalized my diet and treatments, this is what I like the most, then the Ayurveda treatments they provided, which were rejuvenating and pleasant, then the food was excellent, very tasty and rejuvenating, too, I was offered cooking demonstration by the main resort chef, although a young guy, he was very skillful and superb cook.

I was sad and sorry that this beautiful resort was almost empty, due to covid19 situation worldwide, I missed some guests, but anyway my stay was excellent, I will for sure come again.

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. It's clean and comfortable to be there. A picturesque place, you can take beautiful photos or relax by the pool. There is a restaurant and a spa. Special thanks to Fernando, he helped with any questions. Very responsive and pleasant person. I advise you to visit this hotel if you are tired of the noise and want to enjoy the silence. And the caring staff will do everything to make your stay at the hotel pleasant.

Beautifully set on the river, the entire resort is quite cosy and beautiful. Food was good, treatments were good, room was quite lovely.

Some staff had very poor English. Not necessarily a dislike but strong emphasis on the resort rather than Ayurvedic. If you're interested in a holiday rather than strictly Ayurveda, this is the place.

Unfortunately, this hotel stay turned into a nightmare for me. In a hotel of this kind I would normally expect a certain standard. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Starting with the fact that most of the staff did not understand english. At check-in, I was assigned the wrong room with a bathroom that had not yet been cleaned. In the second room I also found a toilet that had not been cleaned, too. The hotel itself was completely empty with the exception of 3 guests. Construction work and an incinerator next to my room continued to severely hamper a relaxing stay. Visiting is strictly forbidden. Unfortunately, the complex cannot be left on foot as aggressive dogs run around in the street.Beaches are further away and not clean.
