Goldi Sands Hotel

A great hotel right on the beach with the best sunsets!! There are 2 beautiful pools. Very attentive staff. And our room was stunning with views of the beach. They decorated our bed beautifully to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Great selection for breakfast buffet. Fantastic location for the airport with a 25 minute taxi ride

The ocean view from the room was stunning and the beach is meters away. The lunch and dinner were cheap in comparison to other outlets, generously portioned, and very tasty. We walked around that area exploring other nearby hotel restaurants and this was the best - it was lively, bright, and even had live music for lunch.

The breakfast was very average.

Staff were very friendly at breakfast, clean rooms and location was great. We walked to lovely restaurants in the area. Hotel is on the beach, we spent most our time around the pool. 30mins drive to the airport, so close by.

Terrible Stay - Avoid at All Costs!

My recent stay at this hotel was a complete disaster. The absolute worst part was the staff's complete lack of helpfulness. They organized a ridiculously loud party right outside my room, which went on until 1 AM, despite being told it would end much earlier. When I called reception to ask about the noise, they were incredibly rude and dismissive.To add to the misery, the hotel allows locals to come in and harass guests, trying to sell products. They also allow taxi drivers to camp outside the hotel, harassing customers as they enter and leave. The main pool was under construction, and the smaller pool had no sunbeds, making it impossible to relax. The towels provided were old and had holes in them. As if that wasn't enough, the beach was filthy, covered in trash. This hotel clearly doesn't care about its guests or the environment. Save yourself the headache and book somewhere else

Incredibly Inconvenient and Disappointing Stay

My recent experience at this hotel was far from enjoyable, mainly due to unhelpful staff and several issues with the facilities. I originally booked a standard room for two nights for myself. My sister then decided to join me for a night before her departure, so I extended my stay by one night. We specifically requested to stay in the same standard room for all three nights to avoid the hassle of moving rooms after my sister left.The staff made an unnecessarily big deal out of this request. Instead of accommodating me, they insisted that I check out and then check back into a new room the following day. This caused a massive inconvenience and disrupted my stay. The "deluxe" room was incredibly outdated and certainly not worth the money. It was disappointing to say the least.Adding to the negative experience, the main pool was under construction, with construction workers all over the place. This made the hotel feel like a building site rather than a relaxing getaway. Overall, the unhelpful staff and the ongoing construction made for a very disappointing stay. I would not recommend this hotel.

Not the best to be honest but served as an overnight stay as we landed late in Colombo. Near to the airport. Within walking distance to Lords complex which is superb for dinner.

The property is very run down. Staff were not particularly friendly. I was very disappointed. Touters waiting to literally pounce on you if you go to the beach. I’m sure there are better hotels in the area.

We were placed in different ends of the hotel. Breakfast was not included. There was mould under the shelves

Found lot of mosquitoes in the room. Staff did not welcome well in the morning breakfast. Feel like they only serve to some targeted visitors and not all people. Airport pick up is great and driver is very helpful. Even it is expensive , he has a good service.

We were there on advice of my cousin without looking for other locations. The first impression and the entrance overlooking the beach was nice. The rooms are old and need to be refurnished. The beach and pool are nice and very relaxing. We didn’t eat there as the breakfast was of extremely low quality. Honestly for the price we paid we expected a 4 star restaurant service and not a 2 star pension one. The staff was very nice.

Price wise this hotel feels like a scam. We paid 50% more than the Shangri la! The food service and selection is worth a 2 star restaurant. This hotel would be acceptable at 45USD a night. Regrettable choice. We complained to the manager who was very nice and understanding.

Good hotel on the beach. Close to a variety of restaurants 1-2 kms. Short Tuk Tuk ride to Negombo attractions. Wide variety of breakfast food in buffet. Good pool with sun lounges. Friendly and helpful staff.

Tired old hotel with surly staff.

We arrived at 8 pm and our room wasn't ready and we had to wait an hour before we could get in. The hotel feels old and tired. The air conditioner didn't get cool enough although they did work on it and it was better the second night. On departure we discovered that we owed them for breakfast. It was my mistake but I asked them if as a courtesy for the one hour wait on arrival they could comp me the breakfast. They claimed they had upgraded our room to compensate us but we were staying in the old part of the hotel so that simply wasn't true. All in all it was an unpleasant experience.

Great location, close to the airport and other resorts for dining. We left our new iPad in the safe and the staff kept it for us to collect on our return at the end of our holiday. Very honest.

The decor is looking a little tired, and the bathroom could have been cleaner. Also, hotel guests reserve the chairs around the pool, while they go off and do other things. This is annoying as it prevents other people from relaxing around the pool.

The hotel is in a good location and the room are spacious.We had a beautiful view over the Indian Ocean from our room.The pool was often not too crowded and there is always someone there for assistance.

The sound proofing in the room is not great.We found mold in our room, we asked to change rooms and then everything was fine.

The staff were attentive and polite and lovely.

It looks very tired. It’s in desperate need of a lick of paint the external walls are mouldy, the umbrellas around the pool were very mouldy. The main pool is also quite dangerous, the tiles have razor sharp edges and we were all cut quite badly. I mentioned this to the pool attendant and suggested a sign telling guests to wear beach shoes but nothing was done. The lights in the pool were also broken and dangling down in the water. These weren’t fixed until I requested them to be fixed. There is a jacuzzi pool but it’s broken and doesn’t work (no plan to fix) and the water jets in the infinity pool only half work (no plan to fix). There is a pool bar but it was not in service. Why not? I’d have bought loads more if it had been.In the bedrooms the air cons leaked badly and we had to leave towels on the floor so as not to slip on all the water/coolant liquid. They sent up a maintenance person and claimed they had been fixed but they hadn’t been. There was no security latch on one of our room doors, again this was replaced but only after I asked for it to be done. Basic maintenance like this should be automatic for a high priced ‘Western’ style hotel.
