Pros +
- Everything was wonderful! The property is beautiful and beautifully maintained inside and out. The rooms were interesting, spacious and very comfortable with everything we needed on hand. The property itself is interesting with tasteful and appropriate decor and acknowledgements to its history. There are plenty of spaces to relax, depending on whether you are alone or any kind of group. Breakfast was simple but plentiful. The staff couldn't have been more helpful when we visited and took time to talk about the reason for our visit and local restaurants to try. And it looks like a beautiful wedding venue!
- The site is beautiful! The gardens were outstanding and so lovely in spring. Staff were helpful and friendly. Whole inn is pet friendly and the rooms overlooking the gardens were so convenient for taking my pup out for a walk. Breakfast had a good variety, was fresh, plentiful and delicious. Coffee machine was excellent, as was the room’s pod machine. Bed was very comfortable and all the facilities were clean and well presented. Overall a lovely stay, with a really social and friendly atmosphere.
- Beautiful old home with a very unique history . Our room was comfortable and quite large . Breakfasts were basic but plenty of food
Cons -
- Nothing!
- There was some cigarette smoke that drifted in from the veranda area, but only for a portion of the time.
- Nothing much

Beautiful historic building very large and comfortable
The size of the room.
We arrived and found other people in our room. We had to prove to them it was our room. There was no staff on duty, so this was very uncomfortable for us. The room is pet friendly but there were stains from other dogs on the carpet. For the price of this room, this should not happen. It is right on the railway line so it was very noisy.
A beautifully restored/renovated historic inn set in gorgeous gardens. The breakfast was good and the host very amenable. A special treat to be able to take our dog to such a place.
It wasn't a problem for us but it's worth noting that it was necessary to climb a steep narrow staircase to access our room and that the bathroom is particularly small.
The gardens were pleasant.
We stayed one night in Gate House 12 and paid $381.90, which included an $80 pet fee for our two dogs.Upon entering the room, we immediately noticed dirty towels left on a chair from the previous guests. When we opened the mini-bar fridge to store our dog food, we discovered it had been turned off and was covered in mould, giving off a strong unpleasant odour. We cleaned it ourselves with antibacterial wipes and notified the front desk. About an hour later, a staff member arrived. We showed her the fridge (which we had already turned on and cleaned), and she seemed surprised, explaining that the owner’s son had stayed in the room the night before and nothing had been mentioned. The next morning, the coffee machine wouldn’t work because an old capsule was jammed inside — it was clearly stuck for quite some time as it couldn’t be removed. The bedside lamps and table were dusty and could do with some polish.Overall, the room was acceptable but far from luxurious and certainly not worth nearly $400 for one night. One additional note for dog owners: watch your step in the hotel grounds — there was quite a bit of uncollected dog waste, and we had a couple of near misses. This obviously isn’t the hotel’s direct responsibility, but it would be helpful if they encouraged guests to clean up after their pets.
Wonderful facilities and great breakfast
The stairs were a bit steep. Access to the site is difficult with roadworks, but this is temporary.
Beautiful old property with grounds to suit. Staff friendly and helpful . Expectations should be tempered for room layout in an 1830’s building and proximity of a rail line. Overall a great experience thank you.
On approaching the property it was a bit of a wow moment. The building is lovely and has beautiful gardens.
The frequency of trains passing by the property created a bit of noise. There was also a lack of staffing at the property, in particular the entrance to the property was at the rear of the property but we had to make our way to the front of the property to reach reception. The breakfast is basic and self serve but again there was no one about whilst guests were in the breakfast area.I get that the building is old but there needs some maintenance on the room we stayed in, for example the rugs and carpet either need a good clean or replaced altogether. The room also appeared to have not been used in a while as all the furniture had a layer of dust.
never used the breakfast facilities
Very pour lighting. 2 blown bulbs. No bedside table on one side.Clean but in dire need of a refit
Super cute little Inn - a perfect quaint country getaway! And bonus dog friendly!
Not an issue for us but the stairs to our room were super steep so worth asking the question for those with mobility issues.
Beautiful property
To much light coming into the room from the windows in the door and the bed was to hard for us woke up very sore
Beautiful property that was a perfect stop on our way back to Victoria from Queensland.Although we arrived after hors, John called us to ensure we knew how to find the property, which was lovely! The venue was lovely with amazing gardens and we stayed in the loft which had everything we needed.
Beautiful historic building tastefully renovated and with reasonable room conversions Included continental breakfast was very easy to utilise and in delightful settingParking was convenient as wellRoom itself was well appointed and comfortable. Good bed and shower.
We should have taken a downstairs room as the upstairs rooms are not easy for people with any form of mobility constraintsTV was non-operative and very smallInsufficient power outlets for in room beverage devices Sound dampening for the frequent nearby train line would be nice
This wonderful historic building in glorious gardens was a highlight of our trip. The staff were wonderful and it was truly dog welcoming to our little poodle. The continental breakfast was amazing, a true German/Dutch breakfast…bread (toast), boiled eggs, ham, cheese as well as cereals, an array of berries and fruit, yogurts, selections of jams… the list is endless.A truly amazing stay.
A surprise around every corner. Beautiful grounds and picturesque gardens. A lovely place offering a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.Amazing history. Friendly and welcoming staff.
Unique, interesting, pretty grounds, big room
Hard bed, average breakfast
Big, clean comfortable
Lounge very uncomfortable. Staff bring out food after breakfast opening time.
We had great experience booking in. The room was what we expected. The Inn was wonderful to explore so many amazing rooms to hang out in.The staff are lovely and breakfast was a wonderful surprise.
