Pros +
- Breakfast was self serve but not much information about which food was free to eat and what was other peoples. No one around to ask. Bathrooms are great.
- Essential rooms and breakfast for a very good price. Smooth check-in check-out procedures and amazing property setting. bathrooms are spartan but nice and clean. Recomended.
- This place has so much character and history - if the walls could talk. Slightly haunted house vibes - but in a good way! I stayed in one of the little cottages out the back (which was great). Short walk to Main Street.
Cons -
- Very noisy on last night, April 19. Very loud group of young men who checked in on the same day acting like little kids running up and down the hall shouting till midnight. They should be banned from booking.com / The Priory. No one around to tell them to stop. The hall light outside our room was like a flood light which lit up our room all night.
- Pity the main part of the Priory was shut for Xmas hols, but understandable.
- shared bathrooms

location and the heritage of the building
shared bathrooms
The minors cabin was great, clean and well appointed with parking at the door. One street from the main street in a very historic and surprisingly welcoming town, I'm looking forward to my next visit.
The tv could be updated to a smart tv and while the bath is not hugely useful a plug giving the option to use the tub would be nice after a long hike ect
I was concerned that the bathrooms were too far from our room Angela was super friendly and accommodated our needs and moved us which was lovely
The building and gardens were stunning and gave a quiet regal feel that no other accommodation of that price has ever given me.
The way the original booking page was written lead me to believe the bathrooms were private to each room and not a shared utility.
The historic building was delightful, the garden was cool and lovely to be in. Loved the old style bathrooms. All the other guests were very quiet and polite.
Rooms were tiny, but this is reflected in the minimal cost and not unexpected.
Location was good. Property was quiet.
Bed was hard and uncomfortable, no fly screen on window - got bitten 5 times, bathroom was separate from room across corridor, no visible staff just a phone number to call.
The location was a 5 minute walk to the town centre. We could store our bikes on the porch.
The Miner's Cottage we were in looks directly into the car park and not greenery or garden as the photos suggest. Rubbish bin collection and cars driving in and out was noisy. I suggest you ask for a room in the main building, with a view, even if sharing a bathroom. We felt like we were in a parking lot.
Lovely old priory building with history.. quiet room. Loved the town
Nothing. Would have loved to see more of the building.
Convenience and location
It was great value. And great location. A once over with feather duster would have been ideal to get rid of some cobwebs in the bathroom. But otherwise lovely unique place
Excellent location one street off to the main shopping area.
The room was old and small
I loved the building and gardens
No fly screens, hence no air flow in bedroom. I appreciate the nuns may not have had window screens but they would have had mosquito nets!!!
Interesting building, the venue is clean, adequate for a short overnight stay.
No fly screens on the windows meant the room was warm and stuffy. Fans are available, noisy, option of an open window would have been nice. There was no milk left for breakfast, we had to head into town to eat.
Very comfortable bed. Great location. Rooms are small and dark with zero amenities. Shared bathrooms were clean. Did not partake of the provided breakfast. But it was$100 for the night.
We stayed in unit 1 in the adjoining 1870s Nun’s Cottage (adjoins the 1889s Priory - both pictured) which was extremely spacious and well equipped - it was self contained with a good kitchen and bathroom. A short walk to the centre of town in a very quiet area. It’s so special to visit historic Beechworth and stay in a genuine part of its early history. Excellent value for money. (We had self checkin so didn’t actually see anyone). No TV - so nice to escape the real world for a while.
Car parking was in the quiet street out the front of the cottage with a tall step which may make it a little difficult to transfer luggage for some - but distance was short. No tea towel provided.
the history of the place.
the shower was to small to stand in did not like it at all.and you could not get all the tv channel.
Lovely old buildings and history
It was a bit run down on the outside and aged with certain furnishings
Had no power in the a.m after 7 due to lightening strike
