Aztec Motel

The staff were very friendly, we had a mixup with our overseas funds, the lady at the desk trusted us to pay a few days in, rather than all up front. The hotel was very airy feeling and the cleanliness was great for the vast part.

I woke up with about 20 bed bug bites all over both arms & my back & face. As I'd never seen a bed bug or been bitten before I wasn't sure, until I found one under my pillow. The staff were apologetic and offered to change linens. We asked to move rooms.

The rooms were well provided, kitchen was great, unit was spacious, beds warm and comfy, pool was excellent, laundry facilities great, staff were excellent more than happy to help us if needed anything.

It would have been ok for 1 night but 4 with having to wash dishes in the bathroom wasn't good, only an outside table and chairs.

A lovely surprise by the owner with an upgrade to a larger two-bedroom room on arrival.Great location for a birthday celebration we attended nearby. Easy and beds comfy for our one night stay for family of 4 adults.Perfect for our needs.

Nothing significant.Carpet could do with upgrading due to old smell.Shower pressure was disappointing.

The staff were so amazing and welcoming. Even had a small Christmas gift for our toddler. Allen was so lovely and very helpful.

The hotel is well located within Palmerston North, close to a medical facility as well as restaurants and bars, some within walking distance. The hosts were very accommodating, including when we were initially going to arrive much later than the standard check-in time. There is an outdoor swimming pool, which is nicely set and would be a great feature in warmer weather, even though Palmerston North can be cold/rainy. Parking was complimentary and directly opposite the room, which was very convenient. Rooms were cleaned daily; while this may not be necessary for all guests, we appreciated the service and it was well done.

The walls are a bit thin, and we could hear neighbouring guests talking late into the night, which was not ideal. That said, we understand that people are on holiday and that this is part of staying in a hotel, so we did not expect perfection. There may be some practical ways to mitigate this, but overall it did not detract significantly from our stay.

The pool was great for the kids on a hot day,, the staff were friendly and the room was very clean. Parking right in front of our room - I will stay here again - great value & a positive experience overall.
