Distinction Palmerston North Hotel & Conference Centre

It is older building that has been modernized very well. Central city location with Cafes shops close. Very spacious rooms and reception.Good free carparking. Very good onsite restuarant - we purchased the specials which were great value for the qauality

TV in our room did not have sound on some channels - was still not fixed when we left.

Was a typical hotel, very predictable and no surprises.

Hotel has a musty smell and old lift with gates to room in a corridor behind a door did not have a feeling of safety. could not wait to check out soon enough. Heat pump switch was high up on the wall so could not switch it on either.

Bed was comfy.

Restaurant food was terrible, took my burger back up as it was inedible - wasnt offered a refund. Tasted old and reheated. And I am not a fussy guy! Also paid for breakfast and they bacon tasted like nothing Ive ever eaten, left it untouched. The whole place had super creepy vibes also.

Good location for restaurants and shops

The breakfast is very average but I think this is due being over the Christmas break

Breakfast was excellent. Check in staff member was totally bored and disinterested. Receptionist at breakfast gave the impression she had just got out of bed and didn't really want to be there. At time of checking out the man was very pleasant, obliging and reflected the image the hotel should be proud of.

Upon checking in it was a case of; here's your room number and here's your card, and now off you go!Anything else I needed to know generated blunt answers.

Good location

They should have told us when booking that no services over Xmas period whilst bar open for a few hours and you could get bar meal and breakfast the service was not as good as usual but it was not a destination. No services so you had to ask for stuff and clean your own room so a little let down. They should state on booking no services and you could choose to go there or not.

Lovely large room, warm and comfy bed. Appreciate the desk, as I did need to work and it was a better set up to stay, work and rest

Bent over backwards to accommodate my Mum who has mobility issues, even down to giving us access to the restaurant seating.

Not enough milk in the fridge.

The breakfast was lovely. I’d give 10 stars for the receptionist/staff member who catered to us, was so kind & lovely & made sure we had our breakfast even though we had to leave. He was the one working front desk 2pm Saturday, he’s amazing.

Yellow stains on blankets, cleanliness was abit poor but we were told there wasn’t enough cleaners which was understandable, still just didn’t feel comfortable having to use those blankets

I was in a very dated, old room. The bathroom wasn’t good, shower had a curtain which crossed across a quarter of the shower space, very annoying

Very poor

I've stayed a few times and every time there is a problem with the aircon. My room was colder than outside and it's winter in palmy so that is saying something and although I went downstairs twice to talk to reception (the room in my phone was broken) the girl on receiption could not seem to care less. Finally she came up to look at my aircon and saw there was actually an issue but I was overall just a huge inconvenience to her. Really this will be the last time I stay - there are so many other better places including motels in Palmerston North.

Good location for a Palmy conference

The only pillow type was very fluffy and quite firm, which made it uncomfortable when wanting a flatter pillow to sleep with. The staffing level wasn’t adequate to provide good service for a weekend where there were significantly more people there than normal. The room was quite dated (though clean) and considering the high price per night it wasn’t good value for money.

The rooms looked tired and in need of an update. Particularly the bathroom. The bed was comfortable but would have expected more from the 'superior' room option. Definitely not worth the money when I compare it to other places I have stayed in NZ.

Bathroom was clean but definitely needed updating. The shower was over the bath and there are no rails. The water pressure was so poor I was unable to wash my hair.

The location was very central to great cafe's and the overall CBD. The staff and service was also very efficient and friendly and helpful. The room itself was well presented and clean, and being on the 4th floor there were great views of the wider Manawatu area.

The immediate area around the hotel seemed like a rather abandoned rundown side of town, though oddly enough it is only half a block away from a very vibrant area which can offset. The room itself felt a bit stale, obviously clean and in good order but for the price we paid it would have been nice for it to be a bit more modern.

Website shows Shower cubicle in room but instead we got shower over bath which was not practical but since we were only staying one night did not detract much from the overall stay.Toilet bowl was on the low side which caused difficulty getting up.

Friendly service and good restaurant and well located

The queen bed in room 201 had a very noticeable horizontal crack on one side. If I had been sharing the bed with someone it would have been extremely uncomfortable, probably not possible to sleep on, but luckily I could move to the other side. That bed needs to be replaced. You shouldn't be charging people to sleep in a bed like that in a 5 star hotel
