    • Nothing. I guess some people may like the sea view but it also comes with the noise of the street which is between the house and water. The pictures are misleading. This review may never be posted but if it is, take my word and do not stay here.
    • This was my first time in Lamu and i loved this hotel, it was in the middle of lamu town and very convinient to walk about and see the town, it was also right at the sea front and close to the jetty so we were able to easily catch boats to the other islands. This place is very beautiful, the antique decor was breath taking and intentional. I would highly recommend!
    • Loved the interior, cultural aspects of Africa throughout the hotel.

    Cons -

    • Everything. It is moldy. Stinks. The place is simply a dump. I cancelled my stay due to unhealthy living condition. The staff and owner lied that I left to visit friends. Don’t book without seeing it as you’ll regret and lose money as I did.
    • I think the breakfast was great but the options were slightly limiting to either a swahili breakfast or an english breakfast. I'd have loved to be able to have both an omlette and a mahamri, i wish the hotel allowed us to choose a range of items for their breakfast and not just one type of meal.
    • The shower pressure wasn’t always optimal. The restaurant service unfortunately was very slow and not consistent in delivering food items to the table. Lovely waiters though.

The food was great. My daughter really enjoyed the fish fingers and ordered them everyday throughout our stay. We loved the group dinner they organized for our friends that consisted of a variety of authentic Swahili dishes.

The property is beachfront facing and close to all the attractions. The staff were friendly and made the stay comfortable. The property is beautiful and aesthetically pleasing if you are into a mix of modern and vintage. The restaurant also offers some good food if you are too lazy to dine outside.

The property is literally located in the main road. The noise from the neighbors and passersby could be heard in the property because the buildings are closely located to each other. As a light sleeper, I was easily woken up by outside conversations, clearly heard at night and early mornings.

Location was great. Restaurant friendly, and the food was tasty. I loved the old Lamu building style, and having a balcony overlooking the busy waterfront. The room was airy and cool with plenty of space. It was nice to have daybed on the veranda. The courtyard pool is very attractive and the vegetation lovely.

There were just a few things that could be improved. We needed a bottle opener in the room, to open the bottles of drinking water provided. There was no WiFi code in the bedroom, and we felt that the organisation of the transport to the airport left us a bit uncertain whether it would actually happen on time.

We havent been to lamu for years and didn't know where to go. I found L H.and the stay was totally superb. The location is fantastic and right on the middle of lamu town , on the sea front but also, once inside , you'd never know you where in a town. The inner courtyard and pools and rest areas are like a hidden gem. The staff were totally amazing and could not have done enough for you. Esther to make bit a few people was incredible. The food is beautiful as is the rooms. The decor of the hotel is very in keeping and incredible. Could not have wished for a better stay !

The pools were cooling and very beautiful. I enjoyed the lovely sun beds. The restaurant was great for breakfast, offering great options. The staff was really kind and professional

Location a bit far from Shella

The space, the welcoming and attention to details. The staff and the service.

    Quite some mosquitoes

Breakfast was good but they forgot the cutlery and toast when serving my English breakfast.

I have no complaints except that the locals kept us awake at night as they were just across our room.

Beautiful hotel and I think the nicest is Lamu town. Beautiful pool in a central courtyard. Restaurant was relaxed and plentiful servings with included breakfast. Staff very friendly and I appreciated the glass water bottles, and sustainable use of reusable shampoos in glass bottles.

Noisy because it is on the main road. Construction was happening and started up loudly and continue through the day. Lots of flies at breakfast but the fans helped.

The decor and design, the hotel was stunning with beautiful decor all over. It had a beautiful courtyard that our room overlooked. Perfect location in rhetorical heart of lamu with a stunning view of the water. The staff were all so kind and helpful. The barman made the best cocktails! Food was great, breakfast was an incredible feast, recommend the Swahili breakfast.

The hotel was great, hanging out by the pool was wonderful. Reminded me of the Road hotels in Morocco with the pool in the centre open with plants around. The meals were all very tasty and portion sizes just right. The view from our balcony was informative and immersive to watch. Our room was kept spotless and netting around bed much appreciated, that being said we had only one mosquito bite between the two of us. Many people came by on the tour to take photos of the pool, I think the hotel was part of the tour of Old Town. Shout out to Esther at the front desk, always friendly and took care of any needs we had.Wifi was excellent.

Lamu Old Town is a step back in time, and if you remember that you can forgive the small transgressions of one accustomed to modernity..

An oasis-like escape from the hustle and bustle of Lamu Town right outside its doors. Lovely and helpful staff. Well-kept and well designed facilities. Multiple pools to choose from for a daily swim.

The mosquito nets and ceiling fans couldn’t protect us from restless sleep on uncomfortably hot nights.

A remarkable property, full of history and character, and stylishly decorated. Our quiet room and private terrace at the back of the hotel overlooked charming rooftops, with dhows on the sea in the distance. The multiple pools, each set in its own secluded courtyard, are perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the island or the historic Old Town, and the waterside restaurant is totally delightful. Best of all, the team are so warm, welcoming and genuine - they really embody the spirit of Lamu and Kenya.

Design, pool, food was great and location. Also the local tour and rest of services were great.

The staff were really accommodating, couldn't do enough for you. Rooms were very authentic and clean. Food in the restaurant was very good.Thoroughly enjoyed our stay

My only reservation was that it was hot in the rooms as there is no air-conditioning but large fans in the rooms keep the room just about cool enough to sleep. We were there, however, in a very hot period.
