Pros +
- This location was perfect. You could walk to restaurants and local shops. I booked 3 rooms for my family and everyone was happy with their stay.
- The location is perfect, just a short walk to Kiyomizu-dera and Gion. The staff is kind and attentive.
- The bathtub in the room was so lovely to soak in at the end of a long day. The BED and the fluffy warm down blanket was SUCH a treat to sleep in. I slept like a baby every night.
Cons -
- I wish the breakfast was Japanese instead of continental, but it was good either way!
- The breakfast was really subpar. I skipped breakfast the next two days because I was looking for more of a traditional Japanese style breakfast than Western Continental breakfast. It was really not appetising to me at all sadly. Dining area is lovely though. Pity about the breakfast, even offering miso soup would have made up for it!
- Maybe have more than 1 lonely pillow in the bed at check in? I genuinely can't think of anything else, this place was great and I was able to get more pillows from the front desk.

The size of the rooms were very large, happy hour was fun and the breakfast was good.
The staff took care of me so well, from allowing an early check in due to heat warnings and going over a map of notable attractions in the area, to helping arrange luggage shipping at check out because they didn't want me to have to haul suitcases to Yamato transport myself. The art over the bed matching the door sign was a beautiful touch (this will make sense when you get there ?)

Lovely rooms, comfortable bed and friendly staff
Сleanliness in the room
We are forced to give our room keys to the receptionist every time we leave the hotel. The hotel is closed from 12 midnight to 5 am.Terrible breakfast (very little food).
Good location, good value, polite staff, tasty breakfast (set menu, western), clean and comfortable room
curfew at midnight, otherwise you "sleep outside ?" as the staff lady told me. small gap under the door, so it can be a little nosy at night
Great location, very helpful and professional staff. I will be back when in Kyoto
The midnight curfew
Nice and quiet place, staff are helpful. The room is quite large and easy to move around.
The hotel is in a quiet area but we cannot have breakfast in peace because of the constant deafening noise of dish cleaning from the kitchen !!
Friendly, helpful staff. Great breakfast. Room was big and the wood bath tub/shower was awesome. Located in a perfect part of town.
Nothing!
Location, lobby and eating area.
Rooms were very small
Location and cleanness
Breakfast doesn’t have options.
Friendly staff, great location, clean and pleasant room. You have to be back by midnight due to the room key system, but that was no problem for us.
Breakfast is nothing special, so it's probably better to eat somewhere else. But that is not a dealbreaker.
Staff was wonderful, the bathtub was very nice, good breakfast.
No smart tv in the room to stream shows.
It is a zen feeling kind of pretty interior that I like. The staff were very attentive serving our breakfasts. Breakfasts were simple but tasty.
My shared wall with my neighbor was thin. I can hear them. Soaking in the wooden bathtub was very much looking forward to, but the hot water was a little weak. It took about 30 minutes to fill up.
All clean and nice location, just next to the beautiful streets of Gion
You can't leave the hotel after midnight. If you wanna make photos at night you have to be back before 0 o'clock.
It was just amazing. The rooms are very nice with beautiful, traditional bathrooms. The bathtub is wooden, and when you fill it up, the whole room smells like a forest. They have a happy hour in which they offer red and white wine and prosecco free of charge. The hotel also has a curfew - you cannot enter and exit 12-5 am, which was not a problem for us. Bonus: there's a beer vending machine three steps away from the hotel entrance.
Maybe not enough space to hang clothes in the rooms, which is very common in Japan I find.
The location is nice - in the middle of the old part of KYOTO. Grocery stores are near, some good restaurants and izakayas are also not far away. The wooden bath in the room is also an interesting touch. The room size is fair
During the night, firefighters were called to the hotel due to a guest not using the microwave oven correctly. The wooden bath is an interesting cultural experience; however might be cleaner. Overall, the bath size is good. We had a room with a balcony, but the balcony was wet from the AC unit. Breakfast was minimal. It could be better.
Cute little room, great cedar tub, excellent breakfast!!
Pillow is too hard for my taste and if they could add a shower holder high up, so you could shower while standing that would be awesome!
