    Pros +

    • Cosiness and accurate design of the room and pretty separate bath. Soft towels and paper napkins; comfortable and cute cups, kettle and water dispenser downstairs. And good stable internet!Beautiful and informative map-scheme on the wall in the 1-st floor and the overall interior design. Smoking room! Very convenient location in the city center close to the metro station and not far from Kyoto University. Also it was easy to find the hotel on the street even after sunset.
    • The room was tiny, the washing machines don’t work properly, and they have no empathy for the guests’ needs. I won’t com
    • Staff friendly at check-in and checkout. Felt they are used to people not staying the duration.

    Cons -

    • It would be nice if there was an opportunity to use an iron, like a microwave and a washing machine. Also there were tea bags in the room, but if it would be possible to provide instant coffee in bags or to put a simple coffee machine downstairs, it would be absolutely excellent
    • The front desk staff was absent most of the time
    • Like a poorly appointed small dorm room. Not comfortable. Not a convenient location.

    Location

Tiny room, windows are looking at building next door, window barely opens so room is a dark cave no view, no light. Amenities are weak, no coffee, no cream, no body cream.

Location very nice;Bed and pillow are comfortable.

    Table too small

    7PriyaPosted on: 10-19-2025

The room was clean and there was a compact space for the little things. The room itself was just enough to fit in a double bed and then 2 ft of space to move around. Since we were there for just a night, it was functional and comfortable. We were able to leave our luggage after check-out and come back for it in the afternoon.

It was a bit of a walk to bus stops. Depending on where you wanted to go, it was around 10 to 15 mins walk.

Friendly staff there all the time. Very clean. No unnecessary extra stuff.

    Beds are very hard.

It was clean and comfortable, great value for the price. The location was very convenient- walking distance from a couple different train lines and areas with lots of bars, restaurants, and shopping (including Gion and Nishiki market).

The location was great in Gion, a short walk from Ponchoto street and lovely calming residential area and restaurants in Gion. Beds were comfortable.

The staff was nice but not very accommodating. We needed to use the toilet after check out and the receptionist would allow us to use the staff toliet in the hallway. They didn’t have an iron, they wouldn’t let us use their landline to call a Japanese number. They were asking us to pay 1000 yen for checking out 30 min after 10am. The room was on the ground floor and there was a constant sound of wind that wouldnt stop. It was driving us crazy. Nothing would help. The room was small and the bathroom was tiny! In hindsight it was nice to be able to ship our luggage there so staying in a hotel was nice, but I wouldve rather spent less money and stayed in a more comfortable and homey place. The hotel didn’t have a warm and cozy vibe, really just a place u sleep after a long day of activities. Skip it and find something more unique and authentic !

Great location close to metro station and walking distance to whole eastern part of Kioto

Room could be cleaner, there was dust both in the room and in the bathroom. We couldn’t open the window. Apart from that room is being cleaned only once 3 days

    7TranPosted on: 5-2-2025

The staffs, the cleanliness, big rooms, and location and also have washer and dryer

Laundry room smells bad and doesn’t have luggage delivery service

The room was okay and the was comfortable.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, and unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. Housekeeping only cleaned our room on the final day, which meant we had to deal with the same used towels, unemptied bins, and general mess for most of our stay. The biggest issue, however, was the air quality in the room. There was absolutely no ventilation — the window was locked shut, and there was no air circulation at all. The room quickly became stuffy and humid, especially since our towels never dried properly, adding to the unpleasant odor that lingered throughout our stay. When we asked the staff about opening the window for some fresh air, we were told it was hotel policy to keep them locked due to noise complaints from neighbors. Strangely enough, we later spoke to other guests who had been able to open their windows without any issues. There was of course the language barier and of course we did not get any better explanation except for "sorry". To top it off, after checking out and leaving our luggage at reception, we returned later and asked to use the toilet — only to be told there were no restroom facilities available for guests who had already checked out.Overall, the lack of cleanliness, poor ventilation, and basic guest services made our stay very uncomfortable. Definitely not what you'd expect from a hotel stay

Pretty comfortable beds Good Location to Subway train station and walking distance to Gion ,Temples, Restaurants and Markets No Key to lose Friendly helpful staff Easy check in procedure

Very small room as expected Opaque Glass door on bathroom was a bit uncomfortable for my adult daughter sharing the room Found some stuff from the previous guest in the room so I guess not fully cleaned properly

Nice styled rooms. As I saw in older comments they didn't have a receptionist. Now they had and they were very helpful also. Very good location for exploring kyoto central we stayed until late out and we could walk to our hotel with ease.

Check-in was easy, the room was clean and comfortable, and location was close to public transit. I would be happy to stay again!

Pleasant stay for five nights during a conference. Great location in quiet neighborhood.

Staff were extremely accomodating, the room we booked was having issues with the door lock. Ended up getting another room very quickly with no charge.

They speak ENGLISH.It is my first time writing a comment on Booking.com but I just have to tell you how much I liked the place.I stayed in Japan for 4 months but mostly in big cities --> hotels. It was my first time arriving somewhere distant and classic. They are many stories about Japan hospitality but I put them mostly in the fairy tails however, at this inn we were welcomed almost as if we were family members. The owners helped us to plan out next day recommending spots and routs, took care of our needs and helped us with our pains. What I found most amazing was the amount of local sourced and homemade products they used. Overall, I highly recommend the spot for an overnight / 2night stay. It offers comfortable rooms with great design and tasty food. They owners are a definition of Japanese hospitality and if you picture them in the setting of old Japanese town it is kind of a unique experience of Japan that due to tourism was lost in history.

    6ElisendaPosted on: 11-26-2024

It was close to the public transport. The room was clean and silent.

The room was too small for 3 people with luggage. The washing machine/dryer didn't dry our clothes which was a waste of money and time.
