Tomoya Residence Hotel Kyoto

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel very much. Great location right close to the shopping area and walking distance to Nijo castle and other attractions. Excellent value for money. Great staff.

Me and my wife came to the hotel during our honeymoon and it was one of the best hotels we stayed in. The place is spacious, clean and well positioned. The staff and management were amazing and helped us throughout our stay. The hotel manager also offered us a discounted upgrade for our honeymoon.

First of all the staff was incredibly attentive and hospitable. The hotel has everything you could want for a comfortable stay. The bed was huge, toilet was amazing along with washer and dryer which had instructions in english. And did I mention how clean the place was? It's in a nice quiet location which led to a wonderful night sleep. Breakfast was nice too! It was the best place we stayed at during our 3 week trip to japan.

There weren't any drawers to put your clothes in so we used the cupboards in the living room. Maybe thats what they were there for?

This was my favorite hotel I stayed at in Japan! As the name suggests, it's a "residence" style hotel - and I could totally live here! I stayed in a 1-bedroom unit, and everything was impeccably clean and comfy. My room was super spacious, with a large bathroom and even a full laundry room with washer AND dryer. Breakfast is delivered to your room each morning at a time you choose, and you can either do a Western or Japanese spread, which are both really good. The staff is SO nice, and the hotel is on a quiet residential street.

It's a 10-minute walk to the nearest metro stop, which could be a bit much if you have a lot of luggage. But you can easily call an Uber or taxi to the hotel if you need it.

Extremely well appointed, spacious rooms. Very comfortable stay. The front desk were very courteous and accommodating. We had a few early morning starts so they made sure we had breakfast in time, rooms were always immaculately cleaned and the most comfortable, modern and spacious hotel residence in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to Nishiki market. Would highly recommend this stay

Wish there were more vegan breakfast options although the hotel did try to accommodate as best as they could. The rest of my family has no complaints at all.

There is nespresso coffee, green and black tea, and water in the room. The staff are friendly and helpful. You do need to leave your key with the staff whenever you leave the room. Umbrellas are available. There is a small water and tea station in the lobby area. The place is lovely and peaceful. A fridge, water kettle and mircowave are also available in the room. High quality dishes are also offered. The coffee is quite good that is offered with breakfast.

The room is quite dark. While there is a patio, that is really the only natural light in the whole place, including the bedroom, which has a window, but it's opaque and doesn't let in much light. The couch is uncomfortably low to the ground. The American breakfast is large, but not particularly good-the potato hashbrown was hard and cold, the breads are similar to grocery store quality breads and the cheese is "american cheese". The fruit is good and so is the yogurt, though the serving is quite small. There is a washer and dryer, ready to go, but the dryer is excruciatingly slow, over an hour for a small load.

Absolutely wonderful stay. The room was huge, bedroom, lounge area, walk in wardrobe! The breakfast was served to the room and was amazing. Staff are really helpful. We did not have Netflix on the TV, so a member of staff came and installed a Firestick for us so we could watch it - nothing is too much trouble. In a lovely area of Kyoto, with not to much hussle and bustle, Would highly recommend.

Nothing at all

This is a serious establishment by all means! An incredible place in an incredibly convenient location. A rich, tasty, and all inclusive breakfast is delivered to your room at your convenience every morning. Everything refreshed everyday; pajamas, bathrobes, unlimited coffee/tea, and the most amazing lotions, soaps and shampoos. And the people run this establishment are some of the most extraordinarily kind people. If you are reading this review, book Tomoya Residence, there is no better place in Kyoto.

The bed were super comfortable, the breakfast was good, and the place was impeccable. Great location.

The booking says child included but then they charged us for the child’s bed; they explained that child the is assumed to sleep on the bed with the parents.

The location in a nice little traditional street was great. No too far from metro station and penty of places for eat close byThe staff was really friendly.

The size of room is very generous. Breakfast both western or Japanese style both great.

I would have more room key for more guests.

1. 10-15minute walk to the nearest train/bus station (we found ourselves taking the taxi more often)2. In terms of room configuration, I wish the toilet was beside the bedroom so it's easier to get to in the middle of the night.

Nothing, it was perfect!

The hotel provided a calm and clean place to rest between Kyoto outings. The accommodations were spacious and the staff incredibly kind. We mentioned to one staff member that it was our anniversary and the next day they gave us flowers with a note congratulating us. They went above and beyond in quality, performance, service, and hospitality.

There was nothing that I didn't like. It was a perfect place to stay in Kyoto.

Good size (room 205). Location was quiet, but still lots and lots of restaurants around.

The room 205 is very dark, you don’t realize the sun is shining. This is why we gave the hotel not 10 points
