    Pros +

    • It was a fantastic experience! The staff was very helpful and courteous. The hotel has a beautiful serene and traditional ambiance, and full of lots of thoughtful details. For example, You can help yourself to whatever you need for the night ( e.g. toiletries) at the lobby area. The room is ultra clean and the bed is comfortable. The location is very convenient, walking distance from Kyoto Station. We were worried about traffic and noise being close to the station but it's Japan so that's not an issue at all. The temple right outside of the hotel is a surprise highlight. It offers a night area to walk early and late at night for a leisure stroll. Ask for a room with the temple view! Last but not least, yes, it's worth it to come here for the hot spring. It's a great way to experience Japanese onsen in a clean, contained, and relaxing environment. The hotel provides a helpful guide for first timers. It was soothing and restorative after a long day of travel...We'll definitely come back!
    • Everything was clean, the breakfast was great and having a free public bath for me was gold. The free shuttle that takes you to a tourist site of choice was also convenient.I even got a special letter from the staff when I told them that I was traveling with my mom to celebrate my graduation. There was a Korean staff too so for Koreans, extra comfort. Thank you so much, I would definitely comeback if I could.
    • The location was great! The staff was excellent, the breakfast was delicious.

    Cons -

    • The space is tight (we run out of space for luggage) and the light is slightly more dim. Nevertheless, it was still a wonderful stay.
    • The rooms were a bit tight, but for a one night stay it was fine
    • I found the towels in this hotels and the other 4 hotels I was at small and very thin. I’m from the US and mid range hotels always give you large thick towels, but that’s not the case in Japan. Also the refrigerator in the room is extremely small, almost like a toy.

It was my second time staying here and it was lovely. The bath was my favorite part his time and breakfast was excellent.

Comfortable, spacious room with traditional touches and Toto toilet. Breakfast included an excellent selection of Japanese and Western options. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Great location near the central transportation hub and across from a beautiful Buddhist temple complex.

It’s central located and right across the street from a beautiful giant temple on a quiet street. Kyoto train station is only a 8 mins walk, where they have the JR line and many other subways. It’s a major train station. The rooms a very large by Japanese standards and the staff was amazingly friendly and extremely helpful. My wheelchair broke and I had a new one shipped to this hotel. They received it for me and helped me shipped my broken back to the store. Meanwhile they lent me a hotel wheelchair for free the 5 days stay and I was able to take it outside the hotel. The other 3 hotels I went to before this one only lend it to me while I was in the hotel. They helped me make restaurant reservations and get a taxi for me whenever I needed one. Everyone was super helpful and friendly from the guest services to the restaurant staff. They treated me like a VIP guest and on certain days they had a free bus taking you to sights nearby for free. Their breakfast on the first floor was good and very convenient and the free onsen was a plus. They allow guests with tattoos to use the spa and sauna for free which was another added bonus! I highly recommend this hotel! It’s a very small hotel and they try their best to give you a very personable service unlike very large hotels where you are just a number.

I found the towels in this hotels and the other 4 hotels I was at small and very thin. I’m from the US and mid range hotels always give you large thick towels, but that’s not the case in Japan. Also the refrigerator in the room is extremely small, almost like a toy.

Very pleasant staff and the most unforgettable temple view through the room window. The room was really spacious

    9JenniferPosted on: 12-29-2025

Great location close to Kyoto Station and right across from a temple. Service was exceptional, everyone was so nice and accommodating. The public bath on the first floor (larger size) was a huge plus - we didn’t expect there to be an outdoor bath, cool pool, AND sauna in addition to the traditional bath. Breakfast buffet was also good, lots of variety. Lovely stay overall!

The non-view rooms feel a bit outdated, but not too bad.

    7EmilyPosted on: 12-27-2025

Breakfast was good and staff were very nice. Beds were comfortable. I liked the onsite laundry machines, although it took 3 cycles to fully dry our clothes.

I didn’t like the smoking area inside the hotel. There was also smoke coming into our room from a separate area when we had the window open. The onsen baths could have been cleaner. There was a lot of lint floating in one of the baths.

    Good location, great staff.

The room is way too small, only one outlet by the bed. The place seems a little outdated. I was uncomfortable having breakfast on very sticky trays.

    9ElenaPosted on: 12-26-2025

The location was close enough to temples and markets. The bed was comfortable, the shower was lovely, and they had a wonderful onsen right on the property. Staff were very helpful and kind as well.

    9ChrisPosted on: 12-15-2025

Staff was helpful and friendly, good location near Kyoto station, onsen was very nice. The rooftop area to relax was a good bonus

    7WarrenPosted on: 11-28-2025

Staff was good and the room was clean.

The hotel layout was not good because we had to go through the hall to get to another building. The restaurant was terrible.

    10TheresaPosted on: 11-15-2025

Location was perfect- close to station. The temple across the street was a wonderful surprise.

    8TracyPosted on: 11-15-2025

Convenient location to train station, temple, shopping district and several other main attractions. Liked that there was also an onsen.

Our room seemed a little dingy, but it was comfortable. The main hot spring was nice, but days available alternated between genders.

    10CPosted on: 11-11-2025

Great customer service. The hotel was very comfortable in a very good location and the staff was very courteous and helpful.

    8LilyPosted on: 11-5-2025

Clean, great customer service, comfortable beds. Seven minutes walk to Kyoto Station. Local bus nearby. The staff are very kind and helpful. Nothing fancy but everything essential is provided. Loved that the room had a window so we could get fresh air.

There’s only enough space for small luggage.

    8ChristopherPosted on: 10-25-2025

The room was relatively spacious and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom and shower were well-equipped. Our room was quiet, no issues at all with noise from the street or neighboring rooms. It was a short walk between the hotel and the main train station. The area around the hotel was pretty quiet at night but there were restaurants within a few minutes' walk.

We didn't use the hotel's restaurant for breakfast as the price seemed a bit steep. There was a cafe a block away that we used instead. There was no coin-laundry facility in the hotel, so we walked to one in the area.

    10JenniferPosted on: 10-20-2025

quiet, comfortable room that was central to everything we were doing. onsens were great and took advantage of them almost daily. also the included breakfast was super convenient and all staff was incredibly accommodating. i was wearing a sanrio shirt when we checked in and the desk ladies quickly informed me there was a hello kitty museum exhibit opening within the next few days we were there!! was so excited togo and so grateful they let me know about it!! would absolutely stay again whenever we go back to kyoto
