    Pros +

    • Well appointed room. Fantastic staffing, attention to detail, interior design, spa facilities, concierge
    • The location and friendly staff.
    • The service was exemplary. The property was so nice. The restaurants were excellent. The spa and mineral baths were amazing. The lighting throughout the hotel was phenomenal.

    Cons -

    • The lack of storage space inside the basic room. If you have large suitcases from a long trip it won’t suffice.
    • Gym was limited. No gym mats which was odd given the standard of the rest of hotel. Had to lay on the floor with a towel
    • Nothing bad to say.

The hotel was AMAZING, the location, the rooms, the cleanliness, the people, the small city everything.A big thank you to everyone at the hotel. Kyoto is such a beautiful and very special place. We had an amazing time at the best country we have visited so far. The culture of Japanese people along with the delicious food is what we will have in our heart and memories forever!

Beautifully designed hotel, showcasing the work of artists and designers. Room, beds, linens are luxurious and spa is unbeatable.

Super friendly and helpful staff, very clean, excellent service, great rooms, very good food (also for vegetarians!). Massage was off the charts, and they offered great excursions that were quite exclusive (To-ji temple private tour highly recommended)

    Nothing bad to say.

Everything - onsen, room, restaurants, general atmosphere

    Beautiful facilities and amazing Onsen

Breakfast was very expensive and selections were limited. Also standard Japanese Whiskies were very expensive. On the first night the concierge sent us into the most touristy part of Kyoto and it was difficult to find a decent restaurant.

    10RachelPosted on: 6-9-2024

The property was outstanding. Would definitely stay here again. Great location. Less than 5 min walk to Nijo castle. The public onsen was absolutely lovely. Very luxurious and a fabulous facility to relax in after a busy day sight-seeing.

Immaculate cleanliness. Amazing breakfast options and quality. Service staff very friendly and professional. Hotel design and facilities top notch!

The garden is very nice. Rooms are new and fresh. Close to a wonderful castle. There is a small touch of traditional architecture.

We stayed in two connected rooms with two kids and on one of the nights I decided to sleep alone and sent the kids to sleep with mother. The hotel charged me for a rollup bed! Never happened before in any other hotel. And I have been to many...Most frequent answer from the staff was - no. We really couldn't understand what is wrong with them. Concierge didn't help with buying tickets for the train. Said I can do it online... It was cold on the terrace and we were sitting with kids. We asked to get a sit inside, but they said no again. It's not a luxury hotel treatment. More like a 4 star hotel.

I liked the stile, the cleanliness, the quiet

Quite pricy, breakfast offer is a limited, slow and crowded.

    10AmyPosted on: 4-20-2024

The property at the MITSUI alone was stunning. The architecture was beautiful and the gardens were perfectly kept. We received tea and hand towels upon arrival, daily gifts were delivered to our room (face mask, chocolates, and lip balm), and we even got to see its cherry blossom tree in full bloom during our stay. The public onsen was also the perfect space for a quiet day or night at the hotel. It’s the bottom floor so you feel like you are transported to another location. We left feeling rejuvenated from the long days of exploring and the loudness of other cities we visited.

Breakfast felt chaotic on some days. The earlier we went, the better. After 9am, it was always busy and it felt like the staff was overwhelmed and flustered. We understood since it was cherry blossom season but it was noticeable.

Everything. Design, quality of materials, service.

The hotel charges additional fees. The Italian restaurant is pricey and lacks flavor.

    10TristanPosted on: 4-18-2024

The property is beautiful, the rooms are modern with a Japanese flair. The breakfast is very good. The service is amazing. Both restaurants at the hotel are worth a try.

I came here to explore the design of Andre Fu with my family in a big group. The landscape was beautiful, it’s contemporary yet has mix of heritage look. We love the interior, the spaces of the lobby where the sliding glass open up to the garden with the view of Sakura. The valet parking and welcoming staffs are friendly.

I was surprised by the hotel's additional charge for my child's breakfast as it differs from my previous experiences. Clear communication on costs, especially for children, is important for guests. The unexpected extra charge for my child's breakfast was disappointing especially we pay for this rate. Furthermore, We can hear disturbing noise during midnight. They are Rubbish collector truck and drunken people along the street. We have 5 rooms not every room experienced it. Those who stay near the end of the hotel. Some room air conditioning is warm although it’s in spring so they have to open their windows and the noise got louder.

One of the best hotels we have stayed in. Very polite staff, great facilities and very clean.

    The design

Breakfast is very poor It was so disrespectful because they gone let you only one order in breakfast and the buffet is very poor.
