The room was clean. The beds were comfortable.
As we stayed during winter, there was no central heating, just with the AC.The room was small.
Nice comfortable guestroom and since close to the train station and bus stop well connected.
Breakfast offer and facility very basic.
It had very much all that you need for a pleasant stay there. The Excellence part in the name is not that applicable, but the bed was pretty solid, toilet was even better. VERY easy to get from and to Kyoto station. Definitely a pleasant experience during the five days that I spent there
Wi-Fi was very spotty at times. Expect to pay the tourist tax when checking in
Hotel Excellence is, as the name says, an excellent hotel, in that the rooms are clean and modern and comfortable, as are the facilities in general.
The rooms are a bit on the snug side, which is pretty typical in Japan unless you spring for a luxury hotel. The location in Enmachi is convenient to the JR line, but far from the subway line, which can mean a long hike for the most convenient route to points east if you don't want to pay to connect from JR to the private lines at Kyoto's central stations. And while there are some convenience stores, um, conveniently close by, the area lacks much in the way of F&B or residential charm. It is, on the contrary, largely characterless, which makes the hotel pretty much just a place to pass out after a long day of sightseeing and not much else. The hotel breakfast options won't give you much reason to stick around, either. You have a choice of toast, or toast. There's also toast.
Had a bad sewer smell in the hallway and room if you don’t leave the room vent and or window open that also let the road noise in.
When we arrived in the room was clean.
No cleaning was included. When we asked to leave our luggage for a couple of hours after check-out, they told us to leave it outside the building and mentioned they wouldn’t be responsible for it. Breakfast only included bread and coffee/tea. We asked for an extra pillow, but they wanted to charge us for it. The room was extremely small, and the staff spoke very little English, which made communication difficult.
There is free breakfast, the rooms are very clean, the beds are comfortable and the staff were helpful. The location feels very off the beaten track in Kyoto but it's right by the train station, which makes it very convenient. Go around the area and try out the local restaurants - you will find some absolute gems.
The rooms weren't spacious so you have to be economical with your bags but we were able to make it work. They do not offer luggage forwarding but we were able to get it done at the 7-Eleven nearby.
Super close to Enmachi station and the staff brings you fresh towels every morning! Also proximity to some amazing sentos.
The toilet door have a pretty big gap and are frosted glass so there isn’t that much privacy
Has everything you need and is very close to a station. It’s also next to some 24hr restaurants, convenient stores, drug store, barber shop, and a grocery store. It was clean and I slept very well. Excellent for the price.
Incredible value for money! Offered a lot of good perks like a basic breakfast, TV, towel service, a great bathroom. Close to train station and public transport.
It's an inexpensive business hotel. If you are a tourist, there is nothing local or special, but if you just need a clean, quiet, pleasant hotel with wifi, a fridge, a basic breakfast and a lobby this is perfect. It is near a train station and a few convenient stores.
I wanted access to the coffee/soup machine after hours and someone stopped me. I have stayed at other Hotel Excellence and that wasn't a problem. I could get a late night corn soup if needed.
Although it is in a quiet suburb, the hotel is in a great spot to explore Kyoto, as it is easily reachable from Kyoto Station. Arashimaya is also close in the other direction. There are direct buses to all the sights in the North-Western part of the town. The simple breakfast was a nice touch.
The room is rather small and the bed is narrow. Otherwise, it was a great experience.
I think one of the highest values of this hotel is location. It's pretty close to a train station, like 5 mins walk. The room is very good for one single person, but it can be kind of narrow for two people since getting in or out of bed can be troubled. The hotel has a vending machine at the very entrance. Though there are two convenience stores between the hotel and the nearest train station.
There are a few coin laundry rooms near the hotel. Please take mind that the hotel has no laundry room, and these coin laundry rooms are not 24-hour. The one that it is, it's like 14 mins walk away. When we stayed at the hotel, we tried to contact the receptionist at the reception, but they didn't answer, though it is hard to say how consistent this behavior is, since they were open to be contacted through the app.
I liked the location, it was close to Enmachi Station and many bus stops. There were good options for food, for example Coco Curry which i recommend! The laundromat was about a seven minute walk, and there was a marketplace about ten minutes. There were plenty of convenient shops, 711, Lawson, a pharmacy with good deals and cheap water!
The entrance is pretty steep, I was wondering how someone with a wheelchair or has trouble walking would fare but there is an alternative entrance on the other side of the building. Also the light at night is at motion sensor and it made it hard to see when I went to do laundry after a whole day if sightseeing.
It was amazingly clean. The bathroom was amazing. I have stayed with a friend but I'd definitely recommend for couples too.
The bed was a little small
Great location only 4 stops away from Kyoto station. Nice and super close walk to Emmachi Station, maybe ~4 min walk.
Cramped rooms, lobby is hidden down a staircase in the side of a building, the man who checked us in was a little gruff to me despite me speaking Japanese to him.
Spacious room with comfortable large twin beds. When we fell ill, the reception was cooperative by finding a hospital for us to visit.
