Front Desk Male who checked us in. Did not know Japanese can be so arragant and rude.Small rooms, broken coffee machine in the lobby.

Beautiful hotel with traditional style. Comfortable rooms, large for Kyoto. Good location near Shijo station. Staff were lovely and helpful, lots of offered amenities at the front desk including free coffee and hot chocolate, ice packs, and even a foot massager. The restaurant also had one of the best buffet breakfasts I've seen anywhere in Japan!

Rooms are a bit dark and could've used some more lighting. But that's a pretty minor thing.

Location is great, only two stops away from Kyoto station. Wonderful rooms that are very clean. Great amenities including matcha, tea bowl, and whisk.

Truly, I enjoyed every bit of my stay.

I really enjoyed the rooms, which had a real authentic Japanese feel. The tatami mat floors, the comfortable slippers, sliding shoji windows, the lowered bed, and the lighting all made me feel like I was in a Japanese home more than a hotel room. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping provided fresh towels and bottled water every day. The hotel was in a nice and quiet neighborhood, and it’s a short walk from Shijo Station with easy access to the subway and other JR trains.

The breakfast was fine, but I wished there were more “breakfast” options (even though I liked the sandwiches and salads okay).

The rooms had such a calming atmosphere and we loved that there was a full tea kit in the room.

We would have really liked it if there was a filtered water dispenser somewhere near the lobby so we could fill our reusable water bottle. It was nice that the hotel provided water, but we would have liked to be able to get more throughout the day.

Great location to walk around! Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. Shower filter and blowdryer were Refa brand. Will definitely stay here again!

Comfortable hotel with an understated aesthetic. Perfect location near public transit and walking distance to shopping and dining. Spotless.

Room is small and dark

Beautiful clean modern japanese rooms, I really liked the aesthetic of the room and hotel services are quite flexible. Conveniently located near main attractions and station - and was priced reasonably. I thought it was nice that they also provide a matcha tea whisk/set for you to use during your stay, which matcha is a must in purchasing/having in Kyoto.

If you have a big luggage it might be difficult to set it down. The space can feel a bit cramped if you had two people staying in the room I chose - not sure if this would be the same for the other rooms.

Easy access to laundry and water.There are cultural performances/activities daily, which make your stay so much more intimateThe room is amazing, large, comfortable.....and large! The hotel front desk is amazingly helpful with any detail you need.Location if perfect for walking to Nishiki market, shopping, Lantern District. 20-25min to Gion, but this is an enjoyable walk with so many stops to make on the way. Close enough to metro as well, and just steps from cozy izakayas.

Loved everything about it

The amenities were very nice, with daily towels handed at the door, as well as key items you can pick up downstairs right in front of the elevator. There's free coffee and hot chocolate as well, which was rather nice. The room had nice lighting and had really nice window control. Also had a mini-fridge, and had laundry room- though I didn't try. Nice that it was available though! It is about a 5-7 minute walk away from the busier, more expensive center of Kyoto, which was nice because you didn't have loads of foot traffic right outside the door.

There's no direct elevator to the rooms, you have to take the stairs or an elevator downstairs to the basement floor, and then walk to the other end and take the elevator to your floor. A little inconvenient but overall not too much of a pain. Location is also a bit aways away, as I had to take the train and then walk for another 6 minutes, but honestly, not even that inconvenient.

Everything was perfect for our stay. Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Facilities were very good, laundry room and complementary coffee was a big bonus.

The room I stayed in had a noticeable odor that the air purifier was unable to eliminate. The other room I booked did not have this issue, but it was not equipped with an air purifier. Overall cleanliness was below expectations. There was a strong smell of smoke in the common areas, and soundproofing was weak. The housekeeping policy was not clearly explained at check-in: staff do not enter guest rooms, and guests are required to place used towels and trash outside the door for replacement and collection. spotty and slow wifi.

Very quiet area but close to main streets, the room is beautiful. The room size is small but normal for Japan. The staff is very nice and helpful, free and nice activitiesin the lobby almost every day.

Room a bit small

The room was absolutely beautiful, comfortable and clean. The location is central, and it's not next to any particular spot but it makes getting around to all of the different areas simpler if you want to explore Kyoto. Staff was very helpful.
