Kyoto Gion U-BELL Hotel

The location was great - in the middle of Gion with access to a lot of shops and restaurants.

Be careful not to lose the hotel key card - they run 2200yen each!

It was a spacious room which was perfect for our long stay! The beds were comfortable and it was nice to have a couch. Plenty of windows to let the light in. Changed our towels out when requested and cleaned room on the 3rd day. It was in a great location, close to Gion district and shopping street. Not far from other major attractions and shopping areas

The location was incredible, right in the heart of Gion. Plenty nearby that was easily accessible on foot, and also well connected via public transport, both train and bus. We ate really well, and travelled all over the city in our couple of days.

Bathroom was small, but this is to be expected in Japan, and not a unique feature of this hotel.

The staff was lovely, the rooms are clean and it is at a great location.

Location is awesome!! Room was big compared to other hotels we’ve been in Japan, amenities were provided and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was super clean!

Everything was great

Room was largest I had in Japan. Staff were very helpful, especially in sorting out some confusion about luggage shipping that was partially my fault. Excellent location in Gion.

No daily housekeeping offered, only every 3 days. Since I stayed for 3 days, this meant I got no housekeeping. But they did replace towels and take trash daily.

I liked the location and the size.

I didnt like that there was water dripping from the airco. It started when raining, also the bathroom was very stanky and we couldn’t get rid of the scent. To noisy, people stayed next rooms where shouting in the hallway early in rhe morning which woke us up so many times.

-nice traditional neighbourhood, friendly staff, quiet area, combini store nearby, close to transport nodes

-mostly clean, but a few hairs on one of the beds and dust bunnies on the couch and a few other locations (considering the price we had to pay, had to mention this)-pillows made from straws (?) or feathers were slightly uncomfortable-no water or any beverages in the fridge or outside included in the price

The staff were very nice but they should be more knowledgeable about the area they are in. We rely on the front desk for general information on the area where hotel is located. I asked Mr Kim upon checkin, for his recommendations on the nearest ramen place and i was surprised with his reply: i am sorry but i don’t know. I am Korean.

Location is great, walking distance to many sites as well as food and shopping

Rooms are small, not a lot of amenities but that's to be expected and the price is great for the location.

Location was good and close to the main sites, though it was a bit seedy at night. The room was quite spacious and clean, quiet.

There was no breakfast included. The listing is inaccurate. They don't even have breafast. Additionally, the front desk staff was nice, but they barely spoke English. It was difficult to comminicate sometimes.

Great Stay and location. The room size was very nice for Japan. They offer decent toiletries and good variety. Staff was as nice as possible.

They did not offer Yamato or any option to send our luggage. Also, there wasn't someone at the front desk all the time (even during the day) and there were no amenities to relax a bit on the lobby or somewhere else. Rooms were good size for japan, but I think the TV could be a bit newer to use apps or allow streaming from my phone. Also, I think that the frequency of cleaning was too low, I think every second day would be perfect.

Spacious by Japanese standards. Great location near eateries shops and shrines/temples. Mart across the road. Quiet. Shower good. Bath if you want.

Perfect location, decent sized rooms!

Wifi didn’t work at all. Pillows were hard and only got 1 so had to ask for extra. Rooms only get made up every 4 days but towels were changed daily.

Absolutely fantastic location right in the heart of Gion. Unfortunately the beds were very hard and only provided one pillow which made sleep uncomfortable. Bathroom very small with a low roof but the room was a decent size so worth it. No restaurant on site but a Lawsons directly across the road which you could get convenience food heated for you.

The Ubell is a small hotel in a great location in Gion. The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. There are many restaurants close by and it’s not far to the metro. It is close to several popular sites and we found it a really good location to explore Kyoto from. Our favourite restaurant that we found was just up the road called Teppenyaki Manryu is definitely worth a visit. We went twice and absolutely loved the food, relaxed vive and friendly service. We needed to book though because it only seats 12.

Hotel is well maintained, clean and comfortable. Handy having Lawson across the road. Lots of restaurants nearby and easy walk to the train or bus. Great value, would stay again
