Bathroom had poor ventilation so the room also would become uncomfortable, potentially because it was older

Washing machine has not detergent, which is okay but in my experience in similar hotels they do. Used normal key not keycard and the replacement fee is 10,000 yen.

Our stay was fantastic, the location was perfect. It was so close to the shopping mall, I would say about a 10 minute walk.

The downside was only one washing machine was working. Over all no other problems.

A beautiful hotel with large rooms and great staff, all of whom spoke English. Location is close to everything with many restaurants nearby and a 7-11 less than a five minute walk. While on a tour, I broke a bone in my foot. The staff were genuinely worried about my condition. They gently urged me to seek medical attention and helped me find a place where I could be helped in English. The hotel is too small to have a restaurant, which it doesn't need, so the staff also made sure I didn't starve. Even walking to restaurants was a real challenge. Unfortunately, I did have to leave Japan early to return home. Although my hotel was prepaid, without my asking, they had refunded the last night of my stay, even before I had arrived back home. I am already planning another trip to Japan to pick up where I left off, and I will definitely return to the Rinn Gion Kenniji. Arigato Gozaimasu.

I wish the TV had streaming capability or apps built in so I could have watched Netflix, etc.

Comfortable room and great location. Close to everything.

The pillow was a bit stiff.

The rooms were clean and well outfitted. In particular, I found the bath with the view of Kenninji temple exceptional.

However, I see now that the prices have sky-rocketed sine I last stayed here. While I believe that these prices more accurately reflect the value of the hotel, it is a shame that it has gone out of mine, and may travelers' budget.

Good sized room for 2 people. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The hotel provided daily coffee pods and water. Other amenities could be picked up in the lobby. 2 washing machines in the main floor were great to use although drying took some time. All staff we encountered were excellent. 5 minutes walk to the train platform. 7-Eleven was just around the corner. Quiet at night. Lots of restaurant options in the area.

Room had 2 single beds as opposed to 1 large bed.

Incredible location, we swinged by the hotel in many occasions, to pick up a jumper or a power bank, without disrupting our itinerary at all. Close to several sights, convenience store, hip restaurants and public transport. Everything was clean and modern, very nice reception and halls too.

The laundry machine (combo washer and dryer) doesn’t work so well —everything came out damp after two cycles of drying, and there wasn’t space to hang things in the room. As in many Japanese hotels, the room was quite small, but this one felt a bit more cramped (perhaps due to big bed, big desk, 3 side tables)... We didn’t have a lot of luggage (two cabin bags) and it was pretty tight already. Perhaps they can let go of one of the side tables to free up some space.

Very good location, close to a good choice of restaurants and the indispensable 7/11 (or other Japanese convenience store). The hotel is modern and the staff competent.

There is no closet space, which may be OK for one night but is really inconvenient when you stay for seven and find yourself having to live out of your suitcases (and then only one stand is provided). Also, some features, while attractive, are not well thought out. For example, to get daylight into the room and open the very effective black-out curtain, one has to go through a fairly complicated manoeuvre to move the rigid inner curtains to one side because of the beds and the headboard. The rooms are not made up every day (twice during our stay), and, while fresh towels in between (there isn’t enough hanging space for the towels to dry) can be provided upon request, at least the small garbage can should be automatically emptied every day.

I liked the quaint feel of the place, and within walking distance to many shrines and temples, also super easy to visit other places with the train or bus.The staff like wherever I stay in Japan really helpful and friendly cannot fault them, and the room was super clean. Within walking distance to the best Chinese restaurant Minmin the food was the best. Also to many other restaurants, you are really in the best spot for everything.

Our stay in Gion, Kyoto, was one of the highlights of our trip. The location was absolutely perfect—right in the heart of the most picturesque area of the city. After a long, exhausting day exploring temples and sights, it was such a relief to be able to take a peaceful evening stroll without needing to deal with transportation or long walks.Being based right there meant we could soak in the beauty and atmosphere of Gion effortlessly, even after sunset. The charm of the neighborhood, combined with the convenience, made this stay truly special.
