- Someone either had recently been smoking in, or was currently smoking nearby, our non-smoking room. That was the final straw that forced us to check out just a few hours after checking in. But it wasn’t the only issue. Unfortunately this hotel is extremely dated. Despite spacious room pictures online, our room was so small that the bed was pushed up against the wall. The wall-to-wall carpeting will hold that cigarette smoke smell for a long time. There’s a gym, but only if you pay extra to use it. It’s well-located, but ultimately feels like a dull, giant business hotel — a huge let-down in a city with so much unique charm. This hotel needs serious improvements to bring it into this century. I can’t recommend it to anyone.

Location (proximity to important city points like Nishiki market). Cleanliness, very courteous staff, attention to detail, the shops and cafe at Lobby and basement level, 17th floor breakfast was definitely a delight. Convenience (e.g. the 7/11 ATM downstairs or the direct connection to the subway). Staff mostly spoke some English, and if they didn't, they tried hard to meet your needs. Within 5 minutes driving to Yasaka, Kyomizu-Dera, etc shrines.

Our only complaint is that the concierge service was not up to what an American traveler would find acceptable. It was not good and not very helpful and its closing hours were ridiculous.

I just list fact.1. Internet not working at all 80% time within one week no WIFI, the only place has Wi-Fi is downstair cafe or top floor breakfast room. But the staff told me even without room internet wifi, if we want to use wifi downstair inside cafe, we have to buy food there. (Ok, I did, as I have to work), and top floor kick me out after 10am as they said they are closing. 2. Bathroom is like container style inside baseroom of a cheap ship. 3. GYM need pay US$30 per visit 5 stars hotel? not even close.
