    • The shower/tub design in the rooms, the spaciousness, and the location.
    • The location
    • It was a great location.

    Cons -

    • The onsen was too hot when I tried it.
    • - only one washer dryer, and the second one being locked for men is stupid - average breakfast - our room was large, and had big windows, however, the windows could not be open and were completely opaque. Not sure why, as it was above street level.
    • The room was VERY small! the lobby/reception was underwhelming.

The Location is very good. It is near 2 subway station, very convenient to travel in Kyoto. Strongly recommend .

Our room was beautiful and well appointed. One of the very best lodging experiences we experienced on this trip.

Great location in the city, right by the river, and once inside it was wonderfully cool and peaceful. Breakfast buffet was also very good, variety of local specialties and western food which were really appreciated.

    10TomPosted on: 1-19-2026

The buffet breakfast was very good each morning with lots of various things we enjoy.

There wasn't an after hours coffee / tea machine service.

This hotel is ideally located near convenient metro access while still feeling pleasantly removed from the bustle and more tourist-heavy areas of Tokyo. I appreciate the experience of staying slightly off the beaten path—it encourages curiosity and discovery—and this neighborhood is perfectly suited for that. The hotel itself is exceptional: classic in style, beautifully refined, and thoughtfully designed. Our corner room featured full paneled windows on two sides, filling the space with light while maintaining a sense of calm and privacy. The room was quiet and luxurious, complete with a generous soaking tub and a comfortable lounging area that made it easy to fully unwind. What truly sets this hotel apart is its subtle, intentional approach to hospitality. The facilities are designed to make guests feel genuinely cared for without ever feeling intrusive. A beautifully curated library offering complimentary beverages and snacks was a particularly lovely touch. Toward the end of our journey, I was also able to arrange an in-room shiatsu massage—an incredibly welcome and restorative experience.I am genuinely in awe of this space and the atmosphere it offers, and I very much look forward to returning on our next trip to Tokyo.

Room was large. Had living sofa area and beds were big. And toilet and bathroom were separated. And location was 1 minute from ex12 of Sanjyo station. And there are many restaurants around hotel and Kamo river side.

    Nothing. Everything was good!!

Location, the quiet, the incredibly large shower/bath! The private women’s baths, the breakfast! Staff were so kind and helpful. Luggage forwarding service was available.

The attractive, consistent minimalist style; bed and bathroom very comfortable, pretty garden outside the window in our room, extra space for sofa, pleasant onsen, very nice breakfast with welcoming staff.

I wish there was an option for wine & snacks in the evening.

Convenient location. Room was comfortably spacious. Facilities on site including vending machines and laundry were appreciated. Staff very helpful.

Location was perfect, close to multiple train and bus lines and an easy walk to many lovely restaurants and shopping areas. The room was clean and very comfortable, and we loved the separate shower/bath area.

There were only a few washing machines and they were very slow, which wasn't great for a trip where we're trying to spend a lot of time out and about.

The location is very good, in walking distance or public transportsion near by.The breakfast is rich, as well as friendly staff.

Some of the reception staff are not friendly. We ordered a room with 'garden view', but it is a fake. The entire floor is a basement, and the room is facing a wall with some plants on it.There are no drinks or snacks to buy in the lobby.

Location along the kamo river and close to soja station allows for easy transfer to hotel once off Shinkansen as well as getting around some of kyoto. Also right next to the gion district. Onsen was nice. Rooms were decent size with tub. Staff were very friendly.

Breakfast was pricey and was just okay. Can be farther away than some tourist attractions and other subway lines.

    Location, provide crib, large room

We booked four nights at the property. We went with our baby and the hotel provided a crib free of charge. What turned into a nightmare was at around 3am, the power in the hotel went out. The emergency light came on in the room but luckily our baby didn’t wake up despite the light. At around 7/8am the power still didn’t come back so we had to go to the lobby to figure out. Reception couldn’t say when the power would come back so they said we should find a new hotel but they will help find one. While trying to figure this part out, light came back in the lobby. They then said everything should be ok now so we figured we would go out for early lunch and then come back. At around half past noon, reception changed its mind and the issue won’t be fixed that day, they also won’t help find a new hotel so we had to scramble to find a new one on our own. Now it’s figuring out refund procedure, the hotel will only refund 3 nights + breakfast for the first night, they also would provide some extra subsidy on top for the new booking we made, which wasn’t a lot given we had to book other places last minute. The process also took basically a few hours which also made us miss our paid ticket to teamlabs. To summarize what disappointed us:- charge full price for first night even though power went out at 3am- insufficient information which delayed our alternative planning process - no other compensation for the time loss dealing with the issue (our teamlabs tickets cost quite a bit) - no help finding alternative

The size and amenities of our room, compared to what we paid for a room in Tokyo (for a similar fare) were more valuable in our stay at the Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Kyoto Premier. In addition, the breakfast variety each day was both filling and diverse.

Our only issue with our stay was the number of laundry units available to guests. As there were only 3 units for everyone to use in the basement floor, we struggled to do our laundry at a decent hour. In this case, we were only able to do our laundry between 3-4am. I would suggest dedicated units for each floor (or every other floor) to minimize guest traffic and better accommodate everyone's laundry-related needs.

This is my favorite hotel to stay in while in Kyoto. The accomodations and location is perfect. The staff is always helpful and kind.

Unfortunately, while we were there they had a power outage which would take 2 days to resolve, so all hotel guests had to find other accomodations. We only got to spend 1 night there. I love this hotel and would stay there again. I have no negative remarks, only that I was sad that our stay was cut short.
