Pros +
- The staff were great. Very helpful and spoke English really well.
- The property was trendy, great ice cream choices, vinyl rentals to listen to in your room were a plus. Only suggestion for the rooms is an extra pillow.Travel advice from My experience: Kyoto is overrated, extremely crowded at all the areas you want to see and transportation takes longer as the lines don’t run as frequently as in other places in Japan. So it takes longer to get places and do things outside of shopping. I recommend day tripping to Kyoto and get a driver for the day and stay in Osaka or somewhere else.
- This is a boutique hotel. Not much luxury. It's clean, quite, far from tourist activities. Over all its easy to get to. We just needed a place to sleep for a few days to explore. This fit the bill. Room has a vinyl record player, but I don't think you come to Kyoto to loung and listen to music. After a busy day of exploring its comfortable to get cleaned up and sleep. No laundry. But we only stayed a few days.
Cons -
- The location is pretty far from most sites. It's about a 15 min. walk to Kyoto Station and a 2 minute walk to a subway station, but we would stay closer to the center of the city if/when we go back.
- Nothing really... it was easy to get to and comfortable.
- nothing to dislike, everything you need is available.

Amazing retro vibes in a convenient location, about 10 minutes walk from Kyoto station. Clean rooms with character and
there is a super chill atmosphere with a great staff, the lobby is the center of the hotel and the icecream is super fatastic. you can use the kitchenette in the lobby for heating your maals if you want. the collection of records/elpee you can borrow to play at your own turntable in the room is great. its is about 15 min walk away of downtown Kyoto and the central station. we hadden a wunderfull time
nothing to dislike, everything you need is available.
The rooms were clean, the hotel was a really cool place, and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Funky vibe hotel, room was very retro but nice, had a record player, we loved the free drinks/snacks and gelato every evening in the lobby during a certain time, the vibe was nice in the lobby too while having a glass of wine on the lounge. Carpark down the road, relatively cheap 700 yen during the day, 300 yen during the night. Staff were young and friendly. Overall, the hotel had a young vibe to it which we enjoyed. Location was good with rental car to certain sites, main shopping mall only a couple of minute's drive down the road. Quiet neighbourhood as expected for Kyoto.
Not a deal breaker but the room was a little dusty especially on the bedhead, desk and window seal upon checking in. Room slightly tight but it was no real issue. We managed with two large suitcases.
Loved the record player, the ice cream and free drinks! Excellent taste in art and design as well.
Bathroom didn’t have any space for personal items
The staff was excellent, the music in lobby and record player make this boutique special. Loved nightly ice cream & happy hour, kitchen and available washer/dryer very helpful. Laid back atmosphere! Kyoto station & kujo subway in walking distane
Only negative was size of room- too small for 2 women! Suggest cubbies or shelving on walls- no storage or room for 2 suitcases
Staff Free drinks and ice creamComfy bed and room
The employees and the vibe of the hotel are amazing! However, we had to keep our window open constantly because the room felt very humid. In addition, the bathroom had a weird smell. The location is okay if you like to stay close to the city centre, but not in it.
Though not located very close to the touristic areas, you are a 5 min walk away from the nearest subway station. Or a 10 minute walk from the central Kyoto station (bullet train). Compact but comfortable rooms Very helpful and nice staff
Breakfast is limited to 2 options (bagel and something else which i forgot). It was not an issue for us, but the main restaurant areas generally need you to take the subway.
Afternoon drinks and ice cream
Too loud, hostel atmosphere
Nice hotel with a differential approach. More lay back and moder design. Vinyl records are much better than LCD screens! Lovely evening lounge for drinks and even ce cream. I strongly recommend it!
We really liked the style of the hotel and the rooms, including the complimentary ice cream/snacks/drinks provided every day. The room were spacious enough for two people. The hotel is located approx. 10-15 min. walk from Kyoto station, metro station is a 5 min walk from the hotel.
We had a little bit of a draft through the windows, which was not comfortable during the night.
The hotel was in an incredible location - tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the busy districts and only a 10 minute walk from Kyoto station. It was in a really peaceful area with beautiful local restaurants. The staff were all absolutely amazing - really friendly and accomodating. Complimentary ice cream and drinks every day was a bonus too! Would definitely stay here again.
A great hotel in a quiet neighborhood, not far from the train station. Clean, peaceful, and cozy.
Free ice-cream and afternoon drinks, record player in the room were such nice details. It’s 10min. walking distance to the train station but the location is a bit far away from the center. Still I would stay here if I have a shinkansen ticket.
Good location as it was a walkable distance from the main train station. The hotel has a cool concept with the music and free ice-cream, and a very young and nice staff. However, the rooms were quite stuffy and moist, we had to have the windows open a lot of the time. Also, the breakfast is not good enough for the amount of people they serve: while the quality is good, they have very little options and the smallest portions I ever seen available in a hotel: if you happen to try and have breakfast at the same time as 2 or 3 more people, it is likely you won't have most of the topping options available, nor are they topped up frequently. For the price you are better off buying breakfast somewhere else.
