    Pros +

    • We enjoyed the jazz band and the Zen workshop. The kitchen was spotless. It was a great location.
    • One of the fanciest feeling capsule/bunk bed styled accommodations I have been privy to across my travels. Staff are excellent and free brekkie!
    • The staff were really friendly and the location is excellent. The basement also has a cool lounge as well, with live music going on certain days of the week. You can also store your luggage in a locker until 8pm after you check out.

    Cons -

    • I would have liked English breakfast tea and milk as an option in the kitchen.
    • The rooms were slightly lacking in amenities and the bathroom in the private double room had a high step that was east to trip on.
    • This is just a personal preference but a comfier bed would've made my experience a 10/10 but I will say the bed was still comfier than where I stayed after I checked out of here. Aside from this, everything was excellent.

Super cute and cozy room and really kind and friendly staff that will give you lovely recommendations! The location is wonderful and very walkable to many fun stores and shopping areas! Thank you!

Perfect location. Clean with decent public kitchen. Friendly atmosphere

It was extremely close to the market and the train station. I don't think I could've picked a better location. The entire staff was helpful, even the ones that weren't very fluent in English did their best! There was also many things available around the facility to use and was very user friendly. I would recommend to ANYONE visiting Kyoto.

This is just a personal preference but a comfier bed would've made my experience a 10/10 but I will say the bed was still comfier than where I stayed after I checked out of here. Aside from this, everything was excellent.

Location excellent. Loved the vibe of the place. Very clean. Love the downstairs area and the live music was great!

The lighting in the room could have been better. Low and warm lighting/lamps that are bedside would be much more appreciated vs the bright overhead lights directly above the bed.

Had a rooftop bar, really great location, nice facilities!

The dryer did not work well, ended up going to laundry mat to dry second load

I loved the common spaces and green wall. I loved the staff. The breakfast was super. The hostel made our stay above and beyond.

Room and beds is larger than other at the same level hotels in Japan. Very comfortable and well equipped, nice design hostel. Very friendly staff. Good location. My children loved this hotel.

This was quite a luxurious hostel. The amenities in the common areas were really nice. The showers, although shared, were very clean and well maintained. There was also a vanity room to get ready which was really nice. The hostel also organizes several events, which makes it easy to explore and participate in the culture. We attended a Geisha show and it was a really unique experience.

The room was very small, there's just enough space to sleep but it worked for us since we had really packed days.

The location, the staff was very attentive. The cleaningness of the hotel, beds were supper comfortable. Showers were very clean, loved the powder room for the girls.

great location, close to metro and a short walk to Gion, very chill common areas - nice to spend evenings after logging in 25+km walking around Kyoto, kitchen is fully equipped and they have a coffee station with hand grinder (wish the beans themselves were a bit better).

on a downside, the room is tiny and the no cleaning rule (till the 5th day of stay I think?) is totally not great - a fast vacuuming is absolutely not a problem to organize in my opinion

    9CatherinePosted on: 12-29-2025

Amazing hostel! Very close to Nishiki market and was very clean!

The room was very small and it was hard to open up my luggage.

    10NigamPosted on: 12-28-2025

The property is very well maintained, just a bit far from the station but that can be overlooked considering other good aspects of the hostel. The property was clean, the staff were kind, helpful and frinedly. The common area is pretty good to hangout, their common kitchen is fully equipped. I'd highly recommend it.

The only thing i did not like was the shower location. The shower was in on another floor altogether, i don't know if it was just for my floor or it is same for all the floor but i kind of expected the shower to be on the same floor if not ensuit.

The hostel is well laid out and in a great location close to public transportation. We especially liked the greenery and common space on the ground floor. We really enjoyed the jazz musicians who performed the first night of our stay!

The rooftop cafe was not open and the hostel was a bit more expensive than our other accommodations.

The interior was awesome! the lounge had a great vibe to it and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. Im very grateful they spoke english. The location is right in the middle of pretty much everything in Kyoto so transportation was fair to say the least.

Slightly small rooms but that might be normal in japan?

    9AnnaPosted on: 12-18-2025

Excellent amenities, friendly and accommodating staff, cooking facilities, nice common spaces, comfortable bed, air/heat I could control. Great for solo traveler.

The common space for eating was very cold so I ended up eating (when I ate in rather than out) in the area that didn’t have tables. This was fine, but it would’ve been nice to be more comfortable in the other room. Otherwise I really can’t think of any negatives! Maybe a tad far from bus/train stations, but overall a solid location and the ~10 min walks to my bus stops and train stations never felt super long.
