    • Located near good restaurants and convenience stores. Nice to have laundry easily accessbile.

    Cons -

    • wish it had bike parking
    • Location was ~20 minute walk from transit and a little further to the core downtown. It is in close proximity to Kiyomizu-Dera which is nice but is a very busy and touristed area. Facilities did not feel very clean.
    • the dormitories have insufficient ventilation, and the building is damp kinda

Clean, nice locker service, nice bed and small locker with bed.

Not Enough shower rooms, Even only in one floor. NO elevator.

    8WinifredPosted on: 6-3-2025

The location is great! Walking distance from kiyomizudera temple and the train station. Definitely a touristy area, but the hostel is a great deal! Also the staff were really friendly.

I personally don’t like how strict Japanese hostels are about noise levels and socializing. You weren’t allowed to talk in the room at any time of day so it made the vibe a little tense. Difficult to make new friends! I’m sure some people would really appreciate this though (we never had any trouble sleeping).

Beds were capsule-like, showers and toilets were clean and proper and complete.

Had to go to another floor to shower, and shower space was mixed.

    10MelaniePosted on: 5-3-2025

Capsules are really nice, with space for luggage and shelves. Kitchen was good. Location was good, close to bus station and 10 minute walk to Gion.

    5PhillipePosted on: 4-8-2025

Washrooms not clean at all , the staff looks like they are just go to work there , not much friendly. But the location is perfect , you can walk to the temples

    7MeganPosted on: 4-6-2025

The kitchen was large and have almost everything you needed to cook and there was plenty of room for guest food. And provided free slippers to use while you stayed. The location was also great

The showers are on the second floor so you have to walk down to shower. There is also only a small locker to put your items in. Everyone had to store their luggage in the common area where it was just in a giant line

    smelly and dirty

very dirty, had to pay extra fee upon arrival, a lot of loud snoring at night. smelled very bad, and there were so many hairs in the sink

The only thing good about this place was the area it’s located in. There is black mold on the 3rd floor the air conditioners have mold if you look closely. The staff was rude and didn’t give me a free cancellation because of the mold I had seen and wanted to leave. This place needs an inspection.

How dirty the place is. How pricey is the place is considering they have black mold on the 4th floor in back room

    3KathleenPosted on: 11-30-2024

    Location is near kiyumizudera

No elevators and you have to carry flights of stairs. Smelly beds, hard matress, dirty restrooms and common areas.

Overall it's not so bad, but comparing to other hostals in Kyoto it way worse.

The location is actually not good. There is no places to eat there. It's near the temple, which is small and i would recommend to stay elsewhere or coming to the naiborhood in the evening. The cleaning takes 5hours. And i can only live my bag in general area, without any kind of security. really don't like to worry about my staff. After all the have a lockers, but they doesn't say it and give u permission to keep you stuff there. Also, I don't like to play with my sheets..

The size of the bed area, the shower size, the staff, the pottery, the layout, the temperature in the bed area, and the lockers

The toilets smelled bad, and dirty tables

    8Xavier R.Posted on: 10-18-2024

Very good location, good bus connections. Plenty of showers, sink area a bit small. Comfortable beds.

The kitchen is smallish. The rooms sleep a lot of people. Ventilation of the rooms could improve.

It was very bougie for a hostel. Nice amenities and good atmosphere. The bunk beds were very nice with the multiple outlets, hanging rods, shelf, and enough storage under the shelf and bed (for bottom bunk) to be able to store all my luggage. I also appreciated the lockers for valuables, which fit about a regular school backpack.

The mini fridges on the dork doors were broken, so you had to go down to the kitchen to store food in a working refrigerator, which could be a tad inconvenient.

    4JohnstonPosted on: 9-19-2024

Lobby was air conditioned, and convenient access to kiyomizu.

The dorm room was incredibly hot all night long. In addition to it being packed with many people in one big space, it was not cooled properly. I could only sleep for a few hours before waking up soaked in sweat and being unable to sleep. There were also bright lights that would come from other beds and people coming in and out past midnight. So, the only way to sleep is with an eyemask and earplugs. There was no room to put big bags, so the kitchen room was full of bags and people. It was also 4 floors with no elevator. The bathroom toilets were stuffy, hot and stinky.
