    Pros +

    • Location, it?s clean, laundromat, and staff.
    • Location. Style close to great grocery & main shopping area
    • Great location and super walkable to everywhere in Kyoto. The room was spacious and clean!

    Cons -

    • It?s not sound proof. I can hear from neighbors talking when I walk on the hallway but most of the time tenniants are not in their room.
    • The only thing I didn’t like was that you couldn’t get coffee in the morning. The coffee place that’s downstairs in the lobby didn’t officially open until 08.30am. Sometimes they opened earlier, sometimes they didn’t.
    • AC in the elevators was not good. They were very hot and stuffy

Great place to stay in Kyoto. As a female solo traveler, I felt completely comfortable walking alone at night. Centrally located, easily walkable to downtown, river and Gion district. The staff at the front desk are ever so helpful. They even have umbrellas to borrow, bandaids if you have a minor injury, etc. Spacious and clean rooms. They have a good gym and laundry units, as well as some vibey cute gardens.

Wish they had an inclusive breakfast package, but really it encouraged me to try out more local spots. Not an awesome view out the window or anything, but it’s great value for money.

Staff were great, room very comfortable, their AC was the best. I forgot my jacket and they helped me with this matter right away, should be arriving home soon.

    Nothing to complain about.

    Location and facilities

We had to change rooms the first night because a light couldn't be switched off.

We first stayed at this hotel in 2023 and had a great experience which is why we booked this hotel again for this trip. We love so many things about it - the location, the staff, the rooms are spacious, bathroom/shower is amazing. The hotel is so clean, so efficient, beautiful interiors, great gym. Love that there is laundry and love how they set up the hotel to make all the amenities (toiletries, towel) accessible to guests. No long waits for housekeeping.

can't think of anything that we did not like about the hotel!

Excellent price for the location--super central to everything we wanted to see/do/eat and a short walk from the nearest train station (Kyoto-Kawaramachi). You can easily take the train straight to Osaka from there. The hotel was clean and comfortable--loved that they had an amenities bar on each floor so you could easily help yourself to clean towels, toilet paper, and tea anytime you wanted. Shower was excellent and beds comfortable. The room was quite roomy for Japanese hotel room sizes and we had room enough for our luggage. Staff were helpful and helped us call our next hotel about sending our luggage ahead of time and how to do so. Lots of restaurants nearby. Coin laundry easily useable through an app.

Sometimes could hear traffic noise from outside. Laundry room and machines could use some cleaning or maintenance--there was a lot of lint that was not easily removeable.

Kabin Taka was great for our visit to Kyoto with our adult children (3 rooms for 5 people). The Twin room has a small kitchenette and slightly larger than other rooms. Kabin Taka is in a handy location and it is easy to walk around Kyoto from there. Lots of great restaurants around this area as well. The electronic keys for three rooms would have been easier to access if I used the App to check-in, as most things with this hotel are self-service and catered for via the App. The staff were very helpful if we needed anything. The onsite cafe is a bonus along with the functional laundries & self serve towels/room accessories located on each floor.

Understanding check-in via App is best to be completed before onsite check in.

Staff was very friendly and helpful Location is nice about 10 from the central area if shops and restaurants rooms are good size and modern

The room didn’t have a window so it was very hot and stuffy in the room and as a result it was also dark and you couldn’t see the how’s weather outside They only clean the room once every 4 days

    6ChristinePosted on: 1-1-2026

    Good location with lots around.

There was room cleaning once every 2-3 days? The room was very dusty my eyes gets very itchy as soon as I go back to the hotel room.

    Spacious room and bathroom.

The hotel was adequate. The location was pretty good, 15 minutes walk to key places. The price would suggest a higher end hotel experience, complete with more services. The absence of a breakfast option and a poorly staffed coffeeshop proved to be a bit bothersome, especially because most of the cafés in the area didn’t open until 930 or 10 in the morning. The hotel keeps pretty bare-bones staffing, and very limited housekeeping. None of these items on their own or dealbreaker, but collectively, they would prompt us to look for a different hotel for a multi day stay in Kyoto.

The hotel’s design was very cool and interesting, with its mix of modern minimalism + fusion of Japanese and Scandinavian design. Room was very nice and surprisingly spacious. Amenities were great (washer/dryer services, luggage storage, public bathrooms, coin exchange machine, cafe, etc.)

The location was overall good (walk to Shijo main shopping street was short) but the walk to Shijo train station felt a little bit long.

Modern, clean and great location. Laundry facilities - tick! Great food options nearby - tick! Excellent size rooms and amenities - tick! Would definitely stay here again.

Firm beds. But I think this is everywhere in Japan.
