Pros +
- Atmosphere, food, great neighborhood
- We were very pleased with the room; thoughtfully designed and very comfortable. The hotel is an oasis of calm in the middle of the best area for seeing the city. The staff were accommodating and welcoming. We actually extended our stay by two days in order to better see this very special city. We had one minor miscommunication regarding the rate for our extension. This was due to linguistic difference no doubt. In all cases the manager was extremely helpful to resolve the issue and we left satisfied. I compliment the staff and in particular this manager, whose name I wish I could recall. I highly recommend this hotel.
- Breakfast was exceptional. The traditional Japanese meal was prepared with care, and we felt very lucky to experience such a special meal. The attendants were wonderful too. very helpful and accommodating. THANK YOU!

- Quiet location , comfort bed and clean room.
- Nothing, I liked everything about our stay.

This was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. Extremely great luxury and comfort. The room and property was beautiful. Loved the in-room onsen. I also really appreciated that the staff would come to your room and setup breakfast for you.

Very nice hotel
Quiet location , comfort bed and clean room.
In room snacks, tea service set, and in-hotel lounge-wear were exceptional. The grounds were beautiful.
Nothing, I liked everything about our stay.
Loved the private onsen and the garden view from the lounge and breakfast room. My husband really enjoyed the Japanese breakfast. Very nice staff and super clean, beautiful place.
The western breakfast could have more variety (same baked goods and salad each morning, eggs not very hot) BUT I appreciated their accommodating my inability to have seafood.
Room is good and food is excellent
Location is a bit far from main streets
The food at the restaurant was very good. The hotel itself is really pretty and has a stunning garden. The onsen in the room is a very nice touch.
The staff does not really speak English. They were not very friendly or helpful. We had issues scheduling breakfast at the time we wanted. Breakfast was also extremely slow.
Amazing place, we booked fufu for one night for our honeymoon and it is a perfect night. The dinner at fufu is just amazing and the hot tub is very nice and relaxing. Friendly staff. 10/10 recommend
Staff, environment, facility
The facilities were kept in great shape and everything was extremely clean. What we appreciated the most was the staff. Every staff member was kind and very considerate. Their service was exceptionally quick and it was a pleasure interacting with each and every one of them.
There wasn't a single thing we disliked about the property. Maybe that it ruins our future travel plans, because nothing else will be able to come close.
Beautiful hotel with an authentic Japanese feel and high attention to details. Huge breakfast with both Japanese and Western options. Attentive staff. Interesting optional activities. Great location.
The room entry and bathroom lights are on a sensor. There is no way to turn them off or disable them which means in the middle of the night, everyone in the room get a blast of light when anyone goes to the bathroom. This is very poor design.
Cleanliness, staff, food, location
Staff greeted us right away and gave us a lovely yuzu drink while we checked in. The location was beautiful and our room had a great view of the city and surrounding greenery. The room was gorgeous and we loved the onsen. The products smell great and we loved the rental system--we got to borrow a flat iron and steam iron, but they have tons of other options. The beds are ultra comfortable. The lounge area is gorgeous and the garden is stunning to look at/walk through.Since we were there for our first wedding anniversary, the staff added a white chocolate to our dessert with customized text written with dark chocolate. They also took a photo of us and gave us a printed version with a paper frame before we left. That was truly above and beyond--we will cherish it forever! They really helped make it even more special.
There was a salmon roe on the couch when we checked in, so the cleaning could have been more thorough, especially for the price. There was a towel with what looked like makeup marks on it, but they replaced it right away. Additionally, the plum syrup experience was way too expensive for what it was: you go into a room and are instructed to rip plastic bags open with syrup or candy in them. The plums are frozen. It felt like a craft activity for children. However, the staff member guiding us was very helpful, kind, and engaging. My husband nor I think the breakfast or dinner was worth the high cost. The breakfast is basically the same every day and you have limited time slots to choose from. We opted not to schedule breakfast for the second day and they wouldn't refund us. The dinner was okay, but overly expensive.
A beautiful hotel, Japanese style. The breakfast is great, we loved it so much. My mom especially enjoyed the hot spring every night.
Very clean and modern with warm dim lighting, added to the relaxing environment
Everything was excellent
Fu Fu Kyoto is an experience that words alone cannot capture. All senses are satisfied in a serene setting. The music and delicate fragrance immediately slows time. The garden and flower arrangements meet the eye. The textures of the materials in the lobby delight. The cuisine is a lesson in Japanese. Our room was our sanctuary.
Nothing—we were completely satisfied.
Fufu Kyoto was an absolute experience. The location was stunning, the facility was immaculate, and the staff was above and beyond friendly. We particularly loved the garden. Our room was unbelievably comfortable and relaxing. My husband and I have become two bed converts. It’s such a small thing, but I loved the different light settings. Our in-room onsen was amazing. I resent that I had to leave and will no longer be able to take daily soaks to unwind. We had been sore from doing so much walking, but I felt rejuvenated each morning from the hot baths and the comfortable beds. We got a lot of use out of the super soft robes. The slippers and zori were also more comfortable than those at other hotels we have been to. The yukata were high quality. My only complaints with the room were that there wasn’t a way (that we could find) to dim the light outside the toilet room, so it was very bright if we got up to use the toilet during the night. The other thing is that there was a small sink in the toilet room that made it very tight. Our knees would bump it when we were in there. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic. My husband really enjoyed the Japanese breakfast. I appreciated that the staff noticed I didn’t really eat mine and was able to accommodate me with a western breakfast for the rest of our stay since I do not eat fish. The service we received while dining was impeccable. I enjoyed speaking with the staff. They noticed that I was working really hard to speak in Japanese and made sure to speak slowly and clearly with me so I could practice. It was really appreciated! I seriously could not get over how kind everyone was. We ordered room service one night after a long day of exploring and found it to be delicious. They even brought us a table to eat at and set it up for us. We will definitely stay with Fufu again, both here and at their other locations.
Quite location close to some of Kyoto’s point of interests in the northeast.
Too small, no public onsen. Room with windows but no outside view as the glass was frosted.
