Very modern, smartly designed, and high tech. Basis toiletries provided (tooth brush, toothpaste, razor, lotion). Excellent free Japanese breakfast which can be taken to room. Delicious roasted tea at breakfast. Front desk spoke English, provided friendly service, and extra blankets and pillows. Late checkout only 1000 yen/hr until 2pm. Purchased cool collectable hotel enamel pin from Kyoto location!

Mattress was pretty hard and uncomfortable. Improved by folding comforter and sleeping on top of it with extra blanket from front desk. This was not the only hard mattress I encountered traveling through Tokyo and Kyoto, but it makes it uncomfortable to sleep on your side.

The room is very comfortable. Staff is nice and very helpful. They help me forward my luggage to my next hotel. There's lockers to drop luggage before chek in, which is convenient as I arrived early in Kyoto, so I could enjoy the city freely until check in. The hotel has great amenities, there's also a coin laundry. Breakfast was good and you can eat in your room which is great if there's no place in the breakfast room. Also there's coffee access until midnight which is nice!

However, when I arrived at the next hotel I saw my luggage broken. I contact the transport service and they told me I didn’t have a warranty, so I told them I didn’t know about any warranty and hotel didn’t talk about any warranty or let me sign anything about a warranty. But the man on the phone told me someone from staff at Toyoko Inn told them I didn’t want warranty. Which is false as I was not aware of any warranty. That is very disappointed, I try to contact Toyoko Inn through booking (as I did my reservation on it) to ask for explanation about their staff lying to Yamato Transport, but has no answer yet. Don’t know if I will have one. I am really disappointing as I enjoyed my stay, but I don’t think I would come back to this hotel because of the customer service I received… do not ignore your customers just because the stay has ended. That rude and do not give a good image of you.

Location is OK, bus stop close by, train station not. Staff are friendly eapecially dinning room staff. They lined up say welcome and thank you.

Room is very small but that might be Japan standard. There is no shuttle service not like the one in Tokyo I stayed.

The staffs were friendly and helpful . The room,shower were clean and bed was nice.

It’s licated in the downtown, so it’s easy to get to. Also it was a nice surprise ti discover that breakfast is icluded.

You should notice that if you are going with the baggage the transport can be overcrowded.

The location was okay—about a 15-minute walk from the train station—and the building was very clean, as you’d expect in Japan.

Compared to other Toyoko Inn hotels, the breakfast here was quite disappointing—repetitive and with limited options. The bed, especially the pillows, was very uncomfortable, and I barely slept. Additionally, the reception staff seemed a bit too interested in guests’ personal matters. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for more than one night.

Great location for getting around Kyoto. Breakfasts were excellent. Staff very helpful and accommodating.

A very international mix of guests, along with so many locals including school groups seem to enjoy staying here. All the staff are attentive and very polite, with quite good English. Best part of our stay was the sensational breakfasts!! A highlight, hands down. Train stops, buses and eateries all around, we really enjoyed.

The bedding was a little firm, but the quilts are superb.

its location was good near the Nijojo castle and train station.

the breakfast offer was an issue with my son and we opted to get breakfast outside the property.

Rooms were super big. Way bigger than in pictures. Didn't expect double bathrooms, baths and showers. Beds were so big you could easily fit 4 people on each bed. There's also a closet that the picture was missing which came extra convenient.

Great value for money and huge rooms considering it's Japan. We will definitely come back again

The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom, though small, was clean and equipped with everything needed.A bonus is the complimentary Japanese-style breakfast, which is simple but filling — a great way to start the day.Overall, excellent value for money, especially for travelers who prioritize location, cleanliness, and basic comforts. I’d happily stay here again on my next visit to Kyoto.

Pros were - free breakfast, nice firm mattress.

The biggest issue I had with the room was the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. It was incredibly strong—I initially assumed I’d been placed in a smoking room. I was shocked to find out that smoking wasn’t actually permitted. The beds seemed to have absorbed the smell deeply, and by the end of my second night, the odor had clung to my clothes, making me feel like I’d been smoking myself. It even seemed like the cleaners might have been smoking while working or during the laundry process, because after the sheets were changed, the smell returned, even though it had started to fade.
