    Pros +

    • Top class rated hotel
    • Very good
    • Amazing view, friendly staff, wonderful breakfast

    Cons -

    • The two room keys died on us the last day as we were having a special dinner. Personnel ran to us with replacements and the customer service specialist I discussed it with was very helpful, but apparently the problem may have been that when we checked in they got the check-out day wrong and the keys expired at 6p.m. It gave me a little concern. There must be some high turnover because some of the wonderfully friendly staff had not been there too long, and mistakes were made.
    • Very expensive but once in awhile gotta treat yourself
    • The bbq dinner buffet was average.

Fantastic view from both the room and the restaurants. Wonderful area for temples, museums and history without the crowds. It was hot, so as planned we mostly one to three nearby Kyoto Kyocera Museum, which was fantastic with the Kusama Yayoi exhibit. 8 min walk.

Upscale and away from the busy city. Most comfortable bed and bedding you will ever have. Beautiful facilities.

The amenities were great. The room, Onsen, breakfast, indoor swimming pool was exceptional!

The bbq dinner buffet was average.

The house keeping did good job every occasion. Good bed and pillows. The doorman gave us always great service.

Breakfast was poor. We stayed more than 10 days and we found that the menu was same every single day.And the taste of dishes were not so great. Each dood booth had more than 2 stuff and not so friendly. We stayed Okura Kyoto and Tokyo, Imperial Tokyo, Chinzanso Tokyo and Kyoto Higashiyama hotel and they were much better than this hotel even though we paid almost same amount of money. There were totally no gift shop or original bakery-cake shop at all. Why not? That was so inconvenient for us.

Amazing on site Spa, great and peaceful location. Super helpful concierge who booked us restaurants.

The most comfortable beds in Japan! The rooms are spacious and cozy. These beds were like heaven on Earth. The location was extremely convenient. Staff speaks English!

Excellent hotel, recently refurbished and much better quality than other Westins. We got upgraded to a Junior Suite which was huge and had fantastic amenities. The onsen area and gym/pool were great additions and worth going to. Good selections of restaurants and a nice bar (just note high costs below). Staff were friendly, rooms super clean and beds very comfortable. Great, quiet location but easily walkable into centre of Kyoto (20-25 min walk) or a metro station a couple of minutes away. Would definitely stay again.

Only complaint would be the prices in the bar and restaurant are expensive and very out of line with prices elsewhere in Japanese hotels. Not sure why there is such a mark up here.

facilities are excellent - room is comfy, onsen and gym are great, the onsen is a lovely treat when families arent acting like its a pool, staff was very nice once they realised i am from Japan and speak Japanese

no real business center,(no privacy, not a center - just a table in the lobby, most of the time people were just charging their phones) staff time and hospitality does not focus on customers needs i.e. too many staff willing to carry my day bag (no help needed for such a tiny bag) but not enough staff to do check in, wont honor bonvoy benefits without making a big deal of it, more information in languages other than English for people new to Japan would be helpful as some of the families had really bad manner in the onsen. all rooms should have desk for that price.

The breakfast was great with varieties of Japanese and western food choices. I especially like the fresh pressed orange juice as well as the ginger and carrot juice. We checked in at 11:30 pm, we were so tired but received great welcome by a Japanese staff (a gentleman possibly in his late 60’s) who was very helpful and escorted us to our room. He politely refused our tips, saying with a big smile, “it’s not needed in Japan”. We could feel his sincerity and professionalism indeed!

    9JimmyPosted on: 12-10-2024

Property was huge with plenty of F&B options and there always also onsen facilities. Staff were all knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Toiletries were thoughtful with mouth wash given (unusual and a winner in my view).

Location is far away from Kyoto Station. But this is mitigated by the availability of shuttle service except would be good if shuttle service starts earlier and ends later.

The SPA is exellent, concierge Kato San was extremely helpful, great location, we had beautiful view from our room, the private gardens are a wonderful experience. teppanyaki restaurant was great. Bathroom is nice. pajamas for the night and for the SPA ware great!

a receptionist on our arrival wasn't professional, the bed was very uncomfortable, small size and very closed to the wall from one side - impossible use for couple! Just 20 cm from the wall. The facilities in the room is more than modest, as a little table and no desk to put your computer or telephones. No any body cream.

We booked junior suite (King), we are super happy. The price is high for this room type, but it is super comfy, very clean and very spacious. Breakfast is excellent and all the staffs are one of the best staffs in Japan (based on what we have experienced). Location is great, near many historical sites e.g. Nanzenji and Eikando temples (7 min walking distance). We will definitely will come back to this hotel and Kyoto again ?.

    beautiful hotel

it was a little hard to communicate in English, but everything went well. I suggest an English speaking staff be present always. A bit expensive.

    10JianhePosted on: 10-19-2024

High quality pillows and duvet covers, very comfortable bed, superior equipped room, with sophisticated toilet and bathrooms, beautiful garden, large SPA bath.

Breakfast neither Japanese nor western, compromised choices and little variation.
