Smile Hotel Kyoto Karasuma Gojo

The location was excellent and was walking distance to many variety places, Subway with elevator was near hotel if traveling with suitcases. This hotel is very suitable for a younger generation. I am older and would have enjoyed a little more space.

The room was tiny. Although it was a little larger than APA Hotel. Bed was okay but not comfortable. Breakfast was average and could have been better. However, they did provide more than enough to eat for breakfast.

The location was perfect. Metro is in the building beside.

The rooms are small and quite used. The bathroom is like a wardrobe, too small and uncomfortable. More over it was cold without air conditioning and hot with it, as well as the windows are badly sealed.

convenient location, staff are nice and helpful, free drinks and 100yen laundry. they don’t clean your room every day and instead place clean towels in front of your room every morning which i really like because i don’t think daily housekeeping is necessary.

the room i was in was really tiny (even compared to other hotels in japan) i would rather have a smaller bed with more room for luggage and moving around

Hotel has stores and restaurants nearby, yukata and other amenities are nice touch as guest lounge has coffee and other drinks. Washing machine / drier was easily accessed and clean.

No place in room to keep luggage open, so constant opening and closing. Sofa bed not comfy, really hard to sleep on. Room photo is misleading

I love the breakfast food. Everything was so good. Location was really close to one of the subway stations.

The room was not cleaned well, there was some dust on the floor where the headboard is.

very nice staff. room was simple, but we were exploring kyoto all day, so it was a nice small home base to rest up at night. it had all the basic necessities we needed. nothing fancy but we weren't looking for that. good affordable home-base to explore kyoto. central location right next to a main bus line and 15 minute walk to the main kyoto train station. complimentary coffee was great too! I'd stay here again.

room is compact/on the smaller side, but that was fine. if you are going to spend a lot of time in your hotel room maybe it isn't the best fit for you, but for our needs it was fine, we were out exploring temples all day.

The location was close to a train station.

The room always smelled like cigarette smoke and it felt damn and the bathroom was extremely too small and uncomfortable to shower in. The bed had no frame it was just a spring box on the floor with a mattress. The pillows had this plastic inside of them that made it super uncomfortable.

Room walls were not clean. Upon request also room was not cleaned. Cost of room is too premium for the size they have given,it is congested. Bathroom is so small and congested.

The location of the hotel was very convenient being right next to the subway station. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating which made our stay more comfortable and enjoyable. The facilities were great too.

For a budget hotel, we appreciated the amenities — the complimentary drinks in the lobby and the laundry room were a nice touch. The front desk staff was helpful and professional, which we really valued.

The room was extremely small, dark, and had a depressing atmosphere. The bathroom was even tinier, making it nearly impossible to use comfortably. The bed was uncomfortable, and the pillows were as hard as stones, which made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep.

Dirty bathroom, not worth staying

I would not recommend this stay. The bathroom was moldy and needed a proper scrub. Our “non-smoking” room smelled like smoke as well as the entire floor. The daily breakfast tasted bad and they originally told my mother it was included then came back mid meal and told her she needed to pay. There are plenty of other same price range hotels/inns in the area, I do not recommend this one.

The room was a good size for 2 people, staff was amazing and the hotel offers breakfast for a reasonable price. Train station is nearby and close to downtown

The staff is very nice and helpful. The location is near a lot of convenience store and some public transport spots. The room is very spacy and comfortable, unlike other japanese hotels.

There is lady name MOEKA san was very kind and sweet and lm very appreciate it made our stay comfortably and l liked that’s is a Location / free hot , cold drink / no sounds from other rooms / laundry machine / very polite kind front desk , cleaning stuff nice toile , tub / mini mart right next door famous temple 2 min walk / we walked from main kyoto station to hotel took about 20 min walk passed long Ramen restaurant peoples was lined up waiting after the evening we went there and had great Ramen ?? next day we took subway from 10 step a way from hotel right by the side and made next day start very easy !

Too comfortable made me sleep in and missed free breakfast ?There is when you in shower you must close the door to void fire alarm to not link Room will pick dark when you shut the curtain so made me sleep in. need set timer alarm for your self bc l slept for first time in so good ? but missed breakfast we was excited to have them ?
