    Cons -

    • Seemed like they didn’t really like foreigners staff were a bit rude even though we tried our hardest to speak Japanese wasn’t our favourite hotel in Japan, we booked for 4 but beds/room were so tiny we had to book additional room beds when we got there so ended up not being great value also could only give us two tiny pillows even though we booked 4 people.

Had a public bath and the breakfast was really good

    Rooms too small

    8ShirleyPosted on: 12-7-2025

The breakfast was wonderful with both Japanese and Western cuisine selection. Thank you for the wonderful staff during breakfast.

The public bath could have an outdoor version as well? At 9pm, the place was completely packed with bathers and it was difficult to relax. Knowing this, in the future, I will bathe earlier or later.

Great breakfast with lots of choice. The onsen was lovely after walking all day. The location was convenient and it was nice to be out of the busy centre and near Sanjo-dori. It was close to the JR station, the metro and the bus as well as a supermarket and numerous restaurants and convenience stores.

My room could have been a little cleaner,

The hotel is very well located, just a few blocks from Nijo station and there is also a bus stop a few steps from the entrance. There is also a convenience store nearby and a Times parking garage. The room was very comfortable, a bit small but very Japanese standard. The bed and pillow were very comfortable and nice. The bathroom was clean but I missed some more amenities. There was an “amenity bar” on the first floor but it was a bit inconvenient. The hair conditioner smelled terrible, honestly I was afraid to use it. The shampoo and body soap also wasn’t good enough. But anyways, overall it was a good stay. The breakfast was great, with many options and a very friendly and polite staff. I would totally recommend and come back again!

The amenities, the “amenity bar” was a bit disappointing.

Location was close to Nijo Castle and the train station. The room was smaller than expected but it met our needs. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and went beyond our expectations.

Didn't like the glass door into the bathroom. We used the privacy blanket.

    8JemminaPosted on: 9-25-2025

Near Nijo station which is accessible and only a few stops away from Kyoto station.

Private bathroom with the glass door. Needing a screen curtain to have some privacy.

Lovely property, clean, lovely breakfast spread, walkable distance to the train station, had a wonderful time

Very clean, our trash was emptied and towels replaced everyday. Breakfast was worthwhile. So close to nijo station and theres a 7 eleven next door.

Wouldve loved there to be more room to open up suitcases in a double room, but still a great hotel

Easy check in, good amenities and comfortable bed. Central location and good access to public transport

    Spa is a bit small

    Location and WIFI

The room is extremely too small. The lift is super slow and sometimes we had to take the stairs. The hotel is overcrowded of groups of tourists, no recommended for couples or families

    8KendraPosted on: 4-19-2025

While this hotel isn't super close to any attractions, a bus line stops right out front and the small Nijo train station is a short walk away. There's lots of good food around and a convenience store next door. The staff are helpful and kind, there's plenty of amenities, and the building is nice and everything was very clean. The room is small, normal for Japan, but well equipped with a small desk and really nice bathroom. Also the onsen is a treat, and one of them also has cold soak and sauna (it alternates for men vs women). Finally, having laundry available is also great.

The train line is right out back and was a frequent background noise, and the window looked right out onto a walkway of another structure - yikes, no privacy!

    10CatherinePosted on: 4-15-2025

The hotel was very clean and modern. Needs were anticipated before we arrived such as the privacy screens for the bathroom and hot water kettles available in the hallways. Loved the onsen on the top floor and the pajamas in the room.

Room was a bit small but clean.

    9LidiaPosted on: 4-12-2025

The room was very tiny therefore not too much space for luggage which is known for Japan. Location is good, but the room expensive.

    9AlexanderPosted on: 4-11-2025

The pillows we got were very uncomfortable, and only having one pillow, where most hotels give two, made the nights a little uncomfortable for me.

    6ClPosted on: 4-3-2025

It felt like the hotel staff were overworked and the least hospitable of all 5 locations (Osaka, Okayama, Hiroshima, Kasai/Himeji) on our trip. The room was adequate but facilities obviously not as well kept as the other places we stayed at. The public bath is far too small for peak season Kyoto.
