    Pros +

    • Horrible check in experience. Room was OK
    • I liked The lounge, bookstore and room.
    • It was a short walk from Kyoto Station which we absolutely loved. Food around the area is abundant. There’s even a little restaurant at the corner of the street and across it, FamilyMart. The hotel itself was incredible. The facilities were so stylish. There’s even a 24-hour bookstore where you can also lounge around. The two different lounges at the Hideout building were also so cool. We made sure to make full use of the coffee machine and the snack bar. Our suite was so clean, comfortable, and absolutely beautiful. We plan on coming back!

    Cons -

    • Reservation was wrong. Children somehow were not listed on both of reservations. Hotel was not willing to work with customer. Ended up paying double the amount. Overall horrible experience. Would never come back here
    • I wish the gym next door belonged to the hotel. We weren't able to workout but thought we could.
    • Nothing. It was a fantastic stay.

Great hotel for the price! Kyoto is a little spread out, so the location was ok, but not easily walkable. We took Ubers that we’re abundantly available and short rides to most places.

I didn’t realize that I had specified a Japanese style room. It was nice, just not what I had expected.

This is our fourth time at Hideout and it remains the best hotel in Asia in our option. The junior suit is the best bang for your buck. Thank you again for an amazing trip.

Would like to see more amenities for the bath tub offered to the guest. I think they would enjoy bath bombs or onsen powders if they were available.

The apartment was HUGE. Great setup in the kitchen plus a dining table. Bathroom and bedrooms were great. Beds were firm. Extra toilet was a huge bonus and you could close off the space if someone was sleeping. Access to snacks and drinks in the lounge just for the apartment guests, which was lovely. Hotel had a great vibe. Walk to Kyoto station. Some good restaurants close by so you could walk to dinner. We wanted a quieter area away from the main shops and it was good for that. Would recommend for size, quiet and convenience, but not for comfort or local vibe. Beds were firm, pilows were great. There's a 7-11 and Donki within 5 mins so easy to get quick meals and snacks.

The lounges were very uncomfortable. We chose this apartment for the lounge area so we could relax at night but they were very hard, too high and fixed so you couldn't enjoy the view. A couple of occasional chairs would have fixed that so it's a shame. We also expected a tower view but it was just a view of the local buildings, although you could see the lovely hills in the background. Toiletries and slippers should have been better quality for such an expensive place - they were pretty basic.

The "apartment" was very nice and spacious.

It was odd that you had to enter/check-in at a low-end hotel (almost hostel-like) and the general area was not the best. While the apartment (v. hotel room) was clean & spacious, the "snack lounge" was lacking. Having just stayed at the Intercontinental in Tokyo, Club Level (for less $), this was a definite downgrade.

Room was spacious with a view of Kyoto tower. Location was excellent--close to the train station, making it easy to catch a train and/or bus around the city. Hideout was quiet and set a bit away from the main building so it felt really secluded and peaceful. We really enjoyed the lounge areas and the refreshments--it was nice to come back after a long day of sight seeing and unwind with a drink and snack.

Amazing place to stay in Kyoto. The staff is really welcoming and accommodating. The location is perfect. I would definitely stay there for my next trip.

    10JuantaePosted on: 10-19-2025

The space for three individuals was better than expected. The location was a short walk to Kyoto station, which made it very easy to get everywhere.

    10NaveedPosted on: 10-18-2025

Aesthetic was nice. Shower space and amenities were well laid out. Access to snack / drink bar was great. Very close to transport which was great and room was very sound proof. Laundry facilities and common kitchen in the basement were very helpful. Room had aircon in each room which was worthwhile. Amazing room and we had a great time!

Housekeeping could be improved i.e. the shower/bathrooms were not cleaned well and amenities not refreshed until requested.

We ate breakfast only one morning, as we had early train rides on other days and it was delicious!! Also, loved the little bar area where we caught a couple of games of Uno over drinks!!

Amazing room, very friendly staff, lots of freebies

Location is ok but could be better.

8 min walk from Kyoto station, located near many restaurants, cafes, family mart. Great amenities, we booked a room for 3 people, it was a mini suite, fridge, small stove, sink. The lounge on the 9th floor had complimentary snacks, coffee bar, ice machine, water bottles, wine bar, sodas and alcoholic beverages. Room was great, modern showers, very nice.

    Everything was great

The amount of space is amazing, especially in urban Kyoto. The view is beautiful, and there are so many amenities: free snacks, free drinks, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, stove top. They could easily charge more for all they're offering.

Low clearance at the main entrance. Watch your head even if you're under 6' tall.

    9VickiPosted on: 9-4-2025

Beautiful comfortable room with extra comforts near Kyoto station

Finding the place initially was difficult, not clearly marked from the outside. Hideout is an annex of Tunestay, which was not mentioned in our arrival instructions.

    10StevePosted on: 7-9-2025

With a family of four, having the separate beds but also the dining area allowed us to spread out a bit more. Plus separation of the toilet to the shower also made mornings easier.

    9SoendaPosted on: 7-5-2025

Great space! Great lounge and amenities like games, movies, popcorn and records! Free wine was a plus and enjoyed gin and tonic! Spacious room with attractive modern decor.

Neighborhood was ok. View not so great. No outdoor seating/space.

    10JenniferPosted on: 6-26-2025

The Hideout was probably one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. it was an incredible location that is close to transit, and so many fun things to do. Our room in the Hideout was exceptional!! We almost didn't want to explore the city because our room was so cool! The in-room amenities were outstanding, and the lounge was the best amenity we have ever had. It was so nice to pop up after a long day of sightseeing and grab a fun drink and snack before dinner.

    10MelissaPosted on: 6-23-2025

Close to the train station, restaurants, a Don Quiote about 2 blocks away, very clean, great amenities. Staff was very nice. Their lounge had great snacks, wine beer, soda’s.

    Nothing. Everything was great!
