    • Great place to stay for Shabbat in Kyoto. Across the street from the Beit Chabad. Almost no Shabbat issues. All the other hotels in the area are impossible to stay for Shabbat.
    • I liked the restaurant that was attached to the hotel which had very good food there. They offer a free shuttle bus that got us to Kyoto Station from the hotel.

    Cons -

    • Very outdated (and the price reflect it)Parking is complicated
    • The beds were a little hard. There was no American tv.

Very convenient location, bus stop right outside with lots of buses that go all over the city. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Black out curtains so got a good night sleep. Comfortable room and very clean. Picked the random room option and got a twin.

    All fine

    - They have some staff who speak decent English, and if they don't have staff at the desk who can speak English they have a translating device they can use for English and other languages. I saw said device be used for English and French- There's an onsen(?)/communal bath, so there are no baths in the rooms. I was a bit too shy and self conscious about my body/weight to use the communal bath, though I realllly wanted to!- They have food services, but as a coeliac I didn't use them- It is easy to get your luggage to the elevator- I love the shower. It feels luxurious. The shampoo makes my hair super shiny but not in a greasy way. By pressing down on the button for the shower temperature thing, you can make it even hotter which I loooove- They offer pyjamas, which are comfortable. They have a stretchy waistband for the trouser part, and the top is nice and baggy and can fit a variety of sizes. I imagine the trousers won't fit people very well if they're over 160 pounds (I'm 150 pounds), and are taller than 5'5 (my height)- It also comes with hangers and shoe shiners and fabric freshener for clothes- There's a mini fridge to put food and drinks in- There's also a large TV, though I didn't use it- You can't request them to hire a taxi in advance, but you can ask them to call a taxi for you as you leave the building. If you're going to Kyoto Train station, they offer a free shuttle that allows even large luggage. It was so helpful!

    - They offered a large man to take his luggage off him, he had two small cases, but they didn't offer me (a woman) to take my two very large luggage for me. I would have said no as I don't like burdening others, but I dislike that they didn't even offer me that option for either of my stays (I stayed once back in March, and again this September). I don't really understand why they didn't offer to take my luggage when they offered a man twice my size with smaller and lighter luggage than my own.- There are drink vending machines on floors 6 and 7, but you still have to pay for the drinks. They're not free with your stay which I've seen some places offer.- When I returned one afternoon to my room, they said I had to wait for my room to be cleaned even though I put up the do-not-disturb sign, which I disliked- My room had traditional two prong Japanese outlets, so make sure to bring a converter if you have a 3-prong American plug (like for laptop charger), or another converter if from another country. I was fortunate that I thought to bring one, even though I almost didn't

I was there 6 nights for a conference near Heian shrine. Location was reasonably convenient for my conference. The hotel is not fancy, and the staff only speak a little english (but we got by OK). My room although small and with a view of a carpark was comfortable and had everything I needed. There's a supermarket over the road and a Lawson's convenience store less than 5 mins walk to your right as you go out the entrance (good option for an ATM). I didn't use the restaurant, or the public bath house (my Japanese friend said the bath house was fine except that the lights were too bright). Aircon and wifi were fine unlike the reports from other reviewers.

It would have been nice to have other drink options than green tea in the room. There's not many local dining options nearby. To avoid searching further I got food from the supermarket.

    The room was big.

Bad smell. Dusty and moldy ventilation. Old carpets and linen. I have asked the staff to clean the bathroom ventilation shaft and it was done immediately. But regardless of the responsiveness, I wouldn't stay here again because of the bad air.

The Japanese room.Nice sitting area. Close to public transportation and philosophers path

Bathroom and shower pretty small although adequate. No coffee in room or available after breakfast Not all staff speak english- however they were ALL very helpful and made the stay more authentic.

The location is wonderful and the hotel has a nice traditional ambiance. Many temples and shrines are nearby. It is also near to Kyoto University. The hotel staff are friendly and courteous. The rooms are clean and have the necessary amenities.

There were two big issues I faced during my stay in the hotel; otherwise, it could have been a great stay. 1. The Wi-Fi was terribly slow in the room, while it was perfect in the lobby. I guess there are not sufficient routers/Wi-Fi extenders all across the hotel. IMO, this issue could be easily fixed.2. My room was on the 7th floor, facing the main road. The soundproofing of the windows was non-existent. It was nearly as noisy as the nearby road. This is a real deal breaker.

Hotel actually is in an easy to access location, within walking distance of Nanzenji Temple

Hotel itself like lobby and reception seemed clean, but there was something off about the room. Bathroom seemed clean. But the room had a odd smell to it, as if it had never been ventilated. There is no temperature control. Luckily I stayed in Autumn so it was warm inside, but it must get really hot in summer. There is definetely an issue with the ventilation, I started getting a cough. Okay, but definetely dont stay if you have asthma, or might be sensitive to dust. They need to clean their rooms properly. Reception staff could have been a bit more polite.

The staff are great. The price is reasonable

The air conditioner is not powerful enough. And the WiFi is quite unstable.

Very clean and not too small rooms. Sento was nice too.

Reception staff was not friendly in English but ok in Japanese.

The room was clean, large and comfortable.

The area is 'deadsville' - no bars, shops or bustle
