Kyoto Plaza Hotel

excellent value & location to central RR. Knowledge that the hotel basically caters to Japanese tourists - i.e. limited English spoken and/or understood (see second part of following comment).

Staff reluctant to check into the rooms we reserved (bed was too narrow, room very small). Bed suited our needs & room was on the small size but as well suited our needs. Staff gave directions/bus route info that was totally in error-double travel time!!

Location

No proper cleaning service, hotel policy for cleaning rooms sucks. Room was tiny, bathroom was pathetic and super tiny.

The value of the daily rate was worth it, the breakfast was good, location is across shopping mall. If you are driving car make sure to reserve parking in advance or plenty of coin parking nearby.

Stayed for 5 nights. Great location, walkable to the Kyoto station south exit thru the shopping mall. Close to supermarket, restaurants, and a few bus stop. It's just next to a main driveway but the sound proof was great. Quiet and rest well at night. Staff were friendly and took care of my luggage before check-in and after check-out.

Sometimes there was cigarette smell in the corridor at night, probably from some other guest. Usually disappeared in the morning when cleaning started so not a big deal.

Location was in a good distance to Kyoto station and the room was clean.

Additional fees were charged before getting access to the room.Breakfast was lousy and too many persons in the room.No access to the bath with tattoos,Very small room and uncomfortable bed.No daily room service, no water availability.Smoke smell on the corridor.

Good place, stuff and beautiful view on 8th floor.

Internet was not working at evenings.

Location is really convenient, just 10 min walking from Kyoto station.

I came to check in the room and suddenly I was asked to pay around 400 yen for "reservation fee", which I couldn't find any information before booking the hotel. Eventhough it's just small cash but I felt like I got scammed, since it was extremely rare in Japan that I have to pay extra fee after payment. The room was somewhat clean but it was clear to see that the furniture was pretty old, i can even see the mold in the lamp.

Good value that compromises location and a bit of comfort for affordability. No issues with cleanliness or amenities though it is a bit strange that they ask guests to leave behind the key when leaving the hotel? However, at the price point I would stay again.

The staff was very nice. The room i received was on highest floor, and the view was awesome. Breakfast was ok. There are computers in lobby for guests to use.

check-out at 10 is generaly a bit early for my style of traveling

Rather cheap and very centrally located. Staff were excellent and helpful.

There was a little bit of dirt and mould in the bathroom, though other than that it was clean. (Just in hard to reach or notice places). The bed was quite hard and springs made it uncomfortable unless in specific positions

Like the public bath in new building with password locked door for W’s.

In some inconspicuous places, there are dust and spider webs.

When arriving they gave us a leaflet stating that the breakfast buffet was free. That was not true.

We liked the fact that this hotel is at the center and had a mall nearbyAnd the staff was helpful

We ordered rooms with ability to smoke which was a mistake. Was very smellyThe beds were super uncomfortable and the parking lot was a HUGE problem, we didn't find any parking anywhere next to the hotel and we had to park at the mall and pay ¥11,200 for just one night.

Location

Hard to find the reason why the light wasn’t turned on. It was just because the push I made to the plug was not good enough, but with the push, one light was on, but didn’t work any for the others. It was confusing.

Staff were great and helpful! Ample parking.

Toilet was small and squeezy and had a high step to get into - potentially dangerous for older folks.

It has everything and is close to the main station. It is about walking distance to many shops and supermarkets. There are many bus stops just in front of the hotel. It is very convenient.

It is a small room, so it is only good for I guess younger generations.

Great location, few minutes from the Kyoto train station. Also a big shopping mall is just around the corner. Very friendly stuff.

Room was pretty small but it seems to be a standard size in Japan. Bathroom and the bed were not clean. We asked the stuff for a new room and received it immediately. The new room was clean.

The location is excellent. I did not take the breakfast. Staff was nice and helpful.

The room is super small. when booking 2 bedrooms, I could not choose 1 room with double bed and 1 room with twin beds. Bathrooms very old compared to other hotels of same level visited. Not all staff spoke English

Staff (generally) were enthusiastic to help with queries. English support was also very good.

The bed was extremely hard, our sleep was not restful. While Japan hotel rooms are generally small, this was the SMALLEST we experienced and was generally not very pleasant. We were allocated a room in the main building, assume the new annex building had more modern rooms. The fixtures in the bathroom were disgusting, cracked and caked with rust. Also, every time you leave the hotel you have to leave your room key with front desk, and Housekeeping could not attend to your room without the key, its so old fashioned.

it is near to temple and 10 away from kyoto station the staff was all accommodating
