Pros +
- The staff and clean
- Quiet and private, not crowded.
- The design, architecture, spacious and modern rooms, with great amenities and service.
Cons -
- The noise of the street and the bad isolation of noise. I woke up a lot of times. There was just one restaurant. You cannot eat in the lobby your own food.
- Food outlet limited.
- The gym and location leave a bit to be desired as the gym is a small compact room with dumbbells and a treadmill, and the location is a bit far away from Kyoto’s main shopping street by walking.

Very elegant and stylish hotelSpacious triple room, modern, clean, warm atmosphere, Quiet not crowded lobby ,Staff was very polite tried always to help
I knew the hotel wasn’t very central, but I was looking forward to a quiet stay the beautiful garden I saw in the photos. Instead, our room faced the street with cars passing early in the morning and a big transformer right in front of the window. It was really disappointing.Breakfast limited and too expensive
Although the breakfast is Western-style, I really like how it incorporates Japanese flavors.
I really appreciate that the hotel staff can speak some English, and their service attitude is exceptionally good.
Facilities were great, room is big and comfortable.
Location is a bit difficult but manageable with a bus stop right in front of the hotel.Front desk staff should advise guests that the door is going to be locked at 10 PM and there is a way to enter with the card. I didn’t know that and there are no signs indicating that. Also, Front desk staff forgot about some fee changes for shipping luggage, and advised me about it AFTER a day when the luggage is already shipped and I got the receipt after paying. They decided to charge me for the fee differences at checkout due to their mistake.I don’t mind paying for a service but I just think it is not professional. I could easily decide to ship my luggage another way.
I was impress by its well thought architectural design. The factI that it’s part of the Okura Hotel Group,It still exceeded beyond my expectation. The Dolby Atmos was an added bonus! It made me feel like I was in a movie theater.I think I have found what I usually call a home away from home.❤️
No enough variety of choices for the i room dining service. I am hoping that one day they will add a Spa to the hotel to make it perfect.

- Bed is too soft- Breakfast does not meet 5-star hotel standards
The continental breakfast was excellent with lots of fresh fruits, veggies, and breads. We had orange juice, coffee/tea, and you had the option to add on french toast. This is NOT your American Continental breakfast at all - it was amazing!!
I wished they could have changed the room from a triple to a double when one of our family members was unable to come. They could not accomodate this request.
Beautiful hotel, next door to the most beautiful temple and garden. Very modern architecture. Provided drinks, pajamas, toothbrush, etc.
The beds were super hard. Pillows were not comfortable either.
Although there were only two breakfast options, the service was amazing, and the omelette was soft, layered, and delicious. Starting the morning with a view of the garden was simply the best. The location is wonderful, nestled among quiet temples and within walking distance of Kyoto’s cultural centers.
I kinda wish it had a spa or onsen… but honestly, the bathtub in the room was spacious enough to soak and relax. I absolutely loved the decor just like the rest of Okura, every detail was so thoughtfully designed. The whole place felt safe, luxurious, comfortable, and incredibly zen.
We likes truly everything. The staff, the serene energy in the hotel, the garden that was accessible. And the bed was so comfortable
The place is nice and in a cosy area in kyoto with a small garden outside, the rooms are big and clean, the services were overall good. A place mainly to relax in the hotel
The value for the amount we paid was not worth the stay maybe because its because of the high season, the breakfast was very tasty but limited to 2 options sometimes if available they offer a 3rd option, eating the same thing everyday was not my thing so i had breakfast outside at times. the hotel was far from the centre of kyoto and the only transportation available was the bus, i would avoid if you like to walk to certain attractions and shops. About 20-30 min walk to a subway station
Very good service , good served breakfast ,nice room ,very supportive team
Beautiful hotel. Very clean and comfortable with free drinks in the minibar and also during ‘Happy Hour’ in the lounge area( red/ white wine, tea and soft drink)
This property is so peaceful and nice, I left this morning and wish I could go back. They don’t skip any details or cut any corners, everything is thought through and incredibly high quality. It’s not just surface level aesthetics, it’s truly a high craft and well designed property and room. The only possible “negative” could be that its location is a bit of a walk to the over touristy areas of Kyoto (Gion, main River, etc), regardless, it’s still pretty close to the Philosophers path. If you’re looking for something quiet, not touristy, but very very high quality (at a very very reasonable price), this is by far the place. Our stay here cost us well less than half of what we paid for “luxury” properties in Tokyo and Osaka, but Okura was by far nicer.
Upscale architecture and facilities.
The lights were a bit too bright everywhere, most noticeable at night. A bit more mood lighting would be welcome but this is something we observed in many places in Japan so not a fault of the hotel, likely just a cultural difference/preference
Service, room, Japanese breakfast and dinner were excellent. My wife mentioned that it was my birthday and I was left a very sweet message in my room. We purposely chose this location to be away from the more busy areas of Kyoto. Logistically, it worked perfect. There is a grocery store across the street. Taxis were easy and convenient and we were also able to walk to the Philosopher’s Path and other areas easily.
No kids below 12 years old. Nice Kyoto breakfast and quiet accommodations.
NA
I think the rooms were very nice and service excellent
Breakfast was only adequate. Juices should have been a full glass and not half a glass.Guests should have been offered extra bread/ croissant/ eggs/fruit if they had finished what was provided.
