Pros +
- We loved this hotel, the style of the property, the staff was really nice and the location also great i think 10 to 12 minutes walk from Kyoto station.Around there are family marts and really good bars. They also offer 24/7 water and tea in the lobby.
- The location is great, close to the subway line. The hotel is exceptionally clean, cosy, and comfy. The staff is super friendly and always try to communicate with you even if some of them don't speak as much English.
- Having YouTube tv, separated bathroom and shower are. Close to train stations, very close to food markets!
Cons -
- The breakfast system was quite confusing in the beginning. Essentially, if you pay breakfast, you get served a set meal in addition to the continental buffet options that seem to be available to everyone. The set menu can either be Asian or Western set menu; but they seem to default to giving you Western set menu, unless you ask. So, make sure you ask for the Asian set menu (comes with rice and miso soup); if you prefer that instead.a
- Very disappointing stay. The room was dirty, worn-out and poorly maintained, with obvious signs of heavy use and paint spots. It looked nothing like the photos online — not even close. This is not a 4-star hotel experience. See attached photos showing dirt and the poor condition of the room. Would not recommend and would not stay again.
- Although the room did have a window, it faced directly onto another building, which meant the room was quite dark throughout the day. The window was also frosted, so there was no outlook or natural light coming in, which was a bit disappointing.

Agora Karasuma was our absolute favourite hotel during our trip to Japan. The room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. We really appreciated the complimentary toast and drinks offered for breakfast. The location was excellent, with a short walk to the bus stop, as well as plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby, making it very convenient for getting around Kyoto.

Best hotel I’ve stayed at. Hot tea, matcha, and water, right at the front door always waiting for you. Helpful and polite staff and an extremely efficient and cozy room.
This time, a welcom service was suitable as new year celebration.A room plan was good. The entrance and utility space was separated to bed space.
Breakfast was not smart. The staffs was too busy to serve both breakfast and checkout, but they gave us courteous service.
Rooms are quiet bigger than usual in japan and staff are nice.
All is good.
Awesome location close to the metro/train stop and shopping locations. Room was confortable and I appreciated the fact that you can regulate the room temperature. Staff was amazing and kind.
Great location, Family Mart is nearby. There’s also a supermarket not far away. Good distance to the subway station. There’s also a bus stop nearby. The ambience of the hotel is really nice.
The pillow was hard.
I was disappointed. By the photos, hotel is nice. But in real life it’s quite old, uncomfortable. I stayed one night instead of three and moved out to another hotel even without refund
It’s very uncomfortable and small
Location wasnt bad
Room size was too small. Breakfast was limiting.
Rooms are top, Washbasins and bathroom incl. Shower s are top!
Lobby area could be more comfortable.
The location was on point. The hotel was small but it was nice too. The bathroom had a separate door which provided us some privacy. We had a nice view and they always had tea and water for you.
I didnt care for the breakfast. Felt like it was worth the cost and it was a little cold. The beds were really hard, felt like we were sleeping on the floor.
Very comfortable room with lots of space.
Little natural light
Rooms have a traditional feel, which is nice (but please note problems indicated below). Location is quite good.
The floor by the shower cubicle/ toilet/ washbasin was some kind of rubber (no problem with that, practical), but it was badly stained. Important to know that rooms in this hotel HAVE NO NATURAL LIGHT. There is a large 'window' but no light - electric light needed at all times.
They offered free tea at the lobby and during Halloween they offered little presents/treats. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately,our room window didn't open.
The location!Near main street of Kyoto, but not so close of all the fuzziness and noise. It was a really nice place to come and rest after a long day
Our window was cover with some kind of protector, we did have blinds and curtains but when we opened, there was still this film, we weren't able to see outside. It kinda gaves us some claustrophobic feeling.s
It was clean and spacious. The bathroom was big.
Design and location
Breakfast, room cleaning, not big enough for the number of guests, staff playing ignorance and don’t speak English
